Super happy to be here!

Dec 26, 2022

    1. Hi all!

Den of Angels recommended introducing myself. I hope this is the correct way to do that. When I first made an account, I read the rules and, to be honest, it made me a little nervous that I'd do something wrong. LOL I'm like, "Dang this place is cutthroat!" But, after digging in a little more, I realize that as long as I'm not promoting, selling, or talking about recasts, I'm pretty safe, right?

Anyway, my name is Deanna, but all of my social media handles is "Juliya and Gray". Of course that is because my favorite BJD is named Juliya after my late mother-in-law. Juliya has a pet mouse that never leaves her side named Gray. Hense Juliya and Gray!

Juliya is a OOAK Blythe. I did not customize her but I've customized one other Blythe doll and I've also done about 5 faceups. However, customizing is not really where my interest lies. I'm more about making clothes, photographing the dolls, and finding ways to express comedy through their eyes. My dolls call us humans "Behemans." We live in their world, not the other way around.

    2. Hello Deanna!

First of all, welcome to this small corner of the internet!

I've been here for about 7 years (recently getting back into my dolls), and let me tell you, I felt the EXACT same way about joining Den of Angels when I first signed up. It's not as cutthroat as the rules make it out to be. I also would say it's mellowed out over the years. You've pretty much got the gist of it though. Recasts is no bueno. And listen to the mods, they were really helpful to me when I started out.

There's a ton of resources for all of those things in the workshop forums. I myself have been using some of those tutorials from almost a decade ago and they still hold value. Don't be shy to share your work or ask for advice in there. A lot of people here put their dolls' stories in the gallery section so it's always interesting to see the different ways people express themselves.

Hope to see more of your creativity!

    3. Welcome! :) check out the styling and crafting forum for info on making clothing! Lots of sewing patterns and sewing threads on there

    4. Thank you so much for replying! Your comment makes me feel less nervous. I'm trying to find some sort of list of banned and off topic dolls (so I don't get in trouble here) LMAO! Still reading through all the "newbie" stuff and trying to keep it all straight. I do really appreciate you writing me back!!!!!!!

    5. Oh, that is so right up my ally! My dolls dress soooo much better than I ever have! I always wanted to be a fashion designer, so the doll clothes are my creative outlet. See you in the forum!

    6. Hi Deanna !
I’m pretty much a newbie too to DOA. I was avid collector years ago. I left the hobby and now I’m back again. I’m excited to look at all the pics. I actually have a few dolls myself. I’m a super Iplehouse fan. I love SartoriaJ and Supiadoll too. Welcome to the group.

    7. Thank you so much Cutelajuan!! I truly appreciate the welcome. I can't really tell where I fit in to all of this because, I have a couple BJDs, but I don't know if having 2 dolls qualifies me as a "collector". Even though I "play" with those dolls on a regular basis, I still feel kind of like an outsider because I don't have a ton of dolls. Know what I mean?

By the way, when I say "play" with the dolls, I mean I dress them and photograph them doing fun things. My dolls have a better wardrobe than I do! LMAO not kidding!
