You should try writing to Volks International and see if since your party are VolksUSA members if they would be willing to give you an invite for Saturday the 10th. Depending on how popular the releases are some things will sell out on Saturday. Usually on the first day of the event everyone lines up to draw lottery numbers and then gets to see how they do.

I've gone to two or three Sato events depending on how you want to count them. (Since the Oct 2007 Sato event last for 2 week ends and I went both week ends.)

I sent in my application for the cruise. So now it is just waiting and hoping. ^^;

 

I've not seen any announcements at all for a Fall Sato event...?

 

I'm not sure it has been officially announced yet. But since Volks has been doing October events for several years now it is most likely to be that week end as Sato is closed on Saturday which is usually the best signal something special is going on.

I adore Volks, but if you're planning to attend their events from another country you often have to learn to check elsewhere or read hints when trying to figure out when something will occur if you want to try to time for it.

For example, Volks certainly hasn't officially announced when the Winter Tokyo Dolpa is, but if you check Tokyo Big Sight's website it will be December 6, 2009.

 

A miracle happened! *rejoyce!* Now just bitting nails and anticipation for me... do we know when will be the winners of the cruise notified? I think I have not been so hyped about an event / doll in years X_D. Ah, the expectations... how hard is to try to remain calm and not to grow hopes, isn't it? ;_____;!!!

 

The application form said they'd start letting people know by early September. So we don't have too long to wait.

In the meantime, Volks have posted more photos of Williams' pistol to the Dollfie Members' Blog here (English at the bottom)

I think this might be the end of the people who entered through VolksUSA? I don't know for sure since I don't know who or how many entered and how many are following this thread. ^^;;;

The VolksUSA lottery was held earlier than the VS/VIP lottery since those of us in the US need time to buy our airfare and make travel plans. ^^;;;

VS/VIP members (i.e. the people who live in Japan and applied) won't be finding out whether they got in until the first week of September I believe since travel within Japan is a lot less complicated.

So assuming you commissioned someone to apply for you, if they applied through VolksUSA they should have heard already. If they applied as a VS/VIP member they won't be hearing for another 2 weeks or so.

Congrats, you guys! I haven't heard yet, although I'm in an area where mailings from Volks take just a bit longer. I'm not 100% sure I even mailed mine in time to beat the deadline though ^^; so my expectations aren't particularly high anyways.

 

The letter is just a standard white one with the Volks emblem on the bottom right corner. There were a lot of papers, but the main one I got was a mustard yellow colour.

However! There is a consolation game!!!!! (I just knew it by that DM.) Volks will have a private party on 10th Oct, which sells SD17 Williams (dresses are not sold this time) to all of 120 attenders. Only losers of this event can entry this lottery.

I felt that way about the Sato event last March. I got an email and was so excited and then as the translation program ran through it, it was like... oh.......

Uh... those items weren't limited or part of any raffle as far as I know? If you win a spot on the cruise, you get everything you opted for on the entry form.

And I believe in the English information I was sent via VolksUSA it was said that the outfits, eye and sword hand were lottery. That could be true for US applicants only, I don't know. It certainly seemed to be lottery for me, since I am pretty sure I did not get the outfits which I put in for.

It'll be a lottery in the case that too many applications were submitted, I think. That's what it also says on the event website.

 

When has that ever NOT been the case though? Pretty sure the outfits are raffle items just like they have always ended up in the past, and I do know for the VolksUSA members, their sheets outright stated those items were by lottery.

I think Volks may even write that their Dolpa dolls will only be a lottery in the case that there are too many applicants.

 

In any case, yes, I got them Only one of them's staying, though. I think I'm also gonna apply for those photo sets - they're too much

 

Well, it's official. I won't be on the boat. Maa, ii ka . . . I'll probably give the Sato event a shot, and accept how that goes as the final word from the lottery gods *L*.

It's too bad they aren't offering the outfits from the cruise, I like one of them; I expect they'll show up on the after market one way or the other, though.
