Hahah I am just like you there... in fact I thought that he was quite... ugly when he was first released... now I am in love with Williams.

I am too, looking for someone to commission to get this lovely boy for me.... anyone else will be going?

Btw, I took everyone's advise and emailed volks about how the US member could attend the event a week ago. I still haven't heard anything from volks. So I guess my trip to Kobe can be rescheduled to a different time..?

 

So I got a confirmation from Volks about this LE

As we know, he will be SD17 Version

This Williams is supposed to be the older version from the original release. (plus the head is supposed to fit on SD17) Thus this is actually a new head mold of Williams - not just a new face up







I think the eyes and the nose are slightly narrower.....

 

This makes me hold out hope for an SD17 Tsukasa release if they made a new Williams head to fit the body. It would be fantastic to see this Williams and the original Williams side by side.

 

I know. Hearing this, it really make me think about that Tsukasa featured with Ryoya..... He may be a new head mold like someone has suggested back then.... so maybe there will be another release of SD17 Tsukasa in the upcoming DP

I thought he looks a different but I thought it was just because of the new face up.
But today at Volks USA, they confirmed that he was indeed with a new head mold.... Yes, Izam, you need one too

Oh, he is so going to be the demon-summoner in my crew (yes he will rule over all of my mythical MD kekeekeeeeee I cannot believe that one day I will end up making Megaten crew in resin )

I would only be interested in Tsukasa to make him a girl, so I guess if the head is made for an SD17 boy neck there's no hope of it fitting on a girl one without looking funny.

 

Actually, the Tsukasa is modelling an SD17 outfit. If you look at the description underneath the Silver Hawk set, it says 'Model: SD17 Konoe Tsukasa'. Ryoya next to him is on the SDGr body though

Volks also had an SD17 Tsukasa modelling the Edgy Tokyo set from Dolpa 21. I nearly had a heart attack when I saw him

 

They list the model as SD17B Konoe Tsukasa - I think that SD17 version is just getting around a lot ^^;.

It's such a tease that they keep using him in pics though *L*.

I didn't even notice that the Williams head was different O_o. I just thought I liked this faceup a lot better ^^;;.

 

Also, to me it seems his jaw is a little more square & his cheeks less full... Wow, I never expected Volks to actually make a new sculpt for him!

I guess it makes sense, since they'd have to reshape the bottom of the head to fit the SD17 neck anyway - why not tweak the features a little and make him look older while they're at it? It's certainly noticeable with SD17 Tsukasa - it looks like they've made similar adjustments, strengthened his jawline and cheekbones, and narrowed his eyes a little. (Not to mention making the head bigger overall. Even on the SD13 body, the original Tsukasa head is tiny. )

It'll certainly be interesting seeing the two Williams' side by side.

 

Ooh! I'd love to see a Williams 1st blank head next to a Williams 2nd blank head... honestly, I can't see a difference in the actual facial features from those photos... maybe my eyes aren't as sharp as the rest of you, hehe ^^;

Reisner fits on the SD13 boy and SD16 girl bodies just fine, and since Tsukasa has always been more a DD size head, I'm sure a reworked one would look fine too.

If they do do SD17 Tsukasa it's splitsville for me, no desire for him on anything but the SD13 body.

 

Friends-of-friends aren't always the most accurate sources of information. In her post above, anavel said she got confirmation directly from Volks, so I'd be more inclined to believe that SD17 Williams is, as she says, a slightly different mould from the original.

 

Short of Volks posting publicly whether it is or is not the same head mould, until someone gets the two heads side by side we're probably not going to know for sure.

Just from looking at the photos though, I agree, they do appear to be slightly different.

 

I got my information from Volks USA (I went there to buy elastics - which I forgot to buy last week.)

Since they know how crazy I am about Williams, they told me about it. So we had some discussion about it.

From what they told me, it sounds like this information was confirmed from the headquarter.

At this point, it does not really matter to me. I am saving up money for him either way - I love him as he is or grown up.

Hopefully, we will see actual comparison pictures from Japan once Volks starts to ship him

Speaking of Volks Japan, so can people outside of Japan apply for a space on the cruise or no?

I'm sort of curious. ^^;

 

I was at Volks USA yesterday and was told by the staff that this is a slightly matured version of Williams and a new head mold. I also asked about the cruise and only VS/VIP members in Japan can apply for the cruise, but if you are interested I would send an email to Volks Japan.

 

If I was going to be in Japan then, I technically have VS membership so I would just apply that way.

I'm curious if the people who wrote into Volks about whether other people would be able to apply have heard back yet.

 

This is very intriguing, but Williams is gorgeous either way.

And did anyone ask at VolksUSA what we can do to get an SD17 Williams for the North American fans? And has anyone heard anything about whether VolksUSA will have a Dolpa event this year -- either on-line or in person? I hope that there will be another Dolpa, and I would love to see SD17 Williams as the limited doll.

 

The Owners Appreciation Fair dolls are for attendees of the event only so we won't get Williams unless he is released at our fall Dolpa. As for the fall Dolpa, no news at Volks USA yet about the details.

 

The hopeless EU fans should recieve a bit more love ;______;. Aah, this is such an impossible wish! To me, the differences are pretty subtle... I thought that it was all about the face up and customization? But this boy is terribly gorgeous, I hope that more cruise atendees will open spots to get him, because he is 100% made of dream matherial. Ah, the agony X_____D.

 

I emailed Volks' International customer service just to confirm, and the reply I got was that yes, SD17 Williams is a different head mould. They said he had been resculpted to appear more mature and to fit better on the SD17 body.

Izayoi - I honestly thought I was safe, but... the more I look at the "mature" version, the more I am tempted. Crap, my Sard may just have to go after all. You know this is all your fault right? Stupid Volks just HAD to release a slightly different/mature/yummy sculpt. *headdesk*

 

They know what gets you, don't they? I think I like this version of Williams even more than the original but thankfully I am safe. I hope you can bring this guy home and that I get a chance to see him in person!

 

You know this is actually your fault? If you hadn't gotten Reisner, I would not have wanted an SD17 seafaring boy that comes with a weapon. And don't even get me started on Toki...

 

Thanks for the link Izam You know, I always thought that pistole looked a little funny FREAKIN AWESOME!!!! But I kept thinking about Resiner's sword, and how that was actually made out of metal But Resin on Resin makes more sense. And color treated resin to top it all off... I'm sure with the right metallic paints and finish that pistol will be one gorgeous piece of weaponry... I wonder if their are any "wood stain" like acrylic paints out there.... Ohhh I'm in Love Love I tell you... And yeah, we are in A HECK OF A LOT of trouble here red rosin... Once again for Williams

You could probably use acrylic with one of those texturize brushes to give it a wood finish. That doll is very you

Ahh Anavel. I am crazy about Williams too. I just don't have a character for a 2nd one. He seems to be pretty hard to get. I am going to pass on this one, my triplet is trying to go to the cruise though, so she may get him. I hope she does get him since she always wanted a Will. He looks like a Williams to me, slightly modded perhaps, but the original is also one of my favs. I hoipe you get him Anavel! He is perfect on the SD17 body. Hugs, ~Gus

I didn't realize that attendance for just the actual cruise was so inexpensive! I can't decide whether to apply or not. It would depend on all three of us getting invitations and then swapping our flights around and begging all of the ryokans we're staying in to give us rooms for a different week...if they even have rooms then. Plus the seasickness and fear of the ocean? And yet I'm considering it.

Well, I sent my application in . . . so I'll leave it to the gods of the lottery (and of Canada Post, as I have my doubts that I sent it in time >_<;;. For my pocket book's sake, not going is definitely smarter, but going and getting me a Williams would be *_______*.

Will attendees actually get this item on the cruise if their names get drawn in the lottery? Or will Williams be shipped?
And is the cruise like a regular dolpa where prizes and tenshis are given out?

I was under the impression that if you land a spot on the cruise you pretty much just submit your order for the Williams. There is no lottery for Williams just a lottery to get on the cruise. Then the Williams gets shipped out. Someone correct me if i'm wrong. Not sure about prizes and tenshis though.

 

For people in Japan at least, I believe cruise attendees will have their dolls sent to them about 3-4 weeks after the cruise is over. Pithetaphish mentioned that was how it was done when she went on the Tokyo Cruise.

It won't be like a regular Japanese Dolpa as there will be no dealer's room and the dealer's room really is a major component of a Japanese Dolpa. ^^;

 

However, there will probably be prizes and gifts.

 

Alas, itinerary cannot be rearranged! We'll just have to resign ourselves to lounging around in the nice empty Sato the following weekend and eating all of the "Mango Moose Cake." I suppose that if any of us were actually after an SD17 Williams sacrifices would have been made. Good luck everyone!!

Is it?? Perhaps that was why they were only taking reservations for Sunday and Monday? Well then.

 

On the Tokyo cruise, and on previous cruises, there was a raffle towards the end of the night - you're given a number as you board the ship and then Mr. Shigeta will pull numbers for wig sets and outfit sets and such. I honestly can't remember if there were Tenshi given out, but it wouldn't surprise me.
