I just placed my order with HLJ. Then it occurred to me to check the MediaWorks site, which I probably should have done first.^^; It looks as though this book will be printed only to fill preorders. I do not think it will be available on the shelf later. There is an order form on the site that I could have taken to the local Kinokuniya, so I didn't need to go through HLJ... oh well. Just as a reminder, the deadline for ordering is Aug. 27. As a matter of curiosity, is anyone here planning on sending in the card for a chance at Noel? This is an odd way of marketing a doll, but leave it to Volks to ratchet up interest in a limited edition. Noel is limited to 200 pieces, buyers to be selected from those who send in the card included in the SD Bible. So in essence, by preordering the SD Bible, you're paying for a chance at the right to buy Noel.^^;;;
I think they limit that "chance" though to residents of Japan. That's what they did with the last time they did this (the Carte book had a beauty white sleeping nono in it that you could send the card in for, but only if you lived in japan... :\
Oh, that makes sense. Thanks for the info! So it's also possible that it's only the version of the book with the card that will be limited to preorders. There could still be a mass printing without the chance card, I guess.
Noel is the last doll pictured on MediaWorks' page about the book: http://www.mediaworks.co.jp/topics/040804_superdollfie/index.php The text says "MSD boy", despite the hair; I was a bit surprised.
gosh...seems i'm getting too late for everything...besides i don't understand japanese/korean or any other asian languages and i find hard to follow all the links and all... i reallly wanted the Super Dollfie Bible. :cry:
You don't need to know a foreign language to enjoy the photos in the book...! If you decide to, you can order it directly from Japan from this English-only site: http://www.hlj.com/ and here is a direct link to the actual page: http://www.hlj.com/scripts/hljpage.cgi?MDW22591
I would go ahead and preorder it but... ::winces:: $43 USD? That's quite a lot for a book. I'm trying to decide if I should go ahead and get because MOST of the dolls that I want aren't Volks, they're Luts. Hmm... decisions! ;O; Nevermind, I preordered it. It was the first time I used my new check card too. Woo! xD;;
thank you! i just preordered it. reading the posts here i assumed it was too late for preordering it. and i didn't see the link of the english site so i was a bit confused. lol
Oh, CRAP. ><;; I just actually read the first post of this thread, and it looks like I was too late to order it. ::cringes:: Ah, well... I guess that's $47 that won't be taken out of my account, eh?
Actually, the finally cost came out to $47.43, with shipping and handling, I assume. I'm just worried about it being too late to preorder... it's almost NOT a preorder anymore, since from what I've read the book officially comes out on the 30th. @_@;; Scratch the money thing, that's 4743 YEN. D'oh.
Actually...statistically speaking...$43 for an "art book" as this technically will be is *quite* good...you should see the cost of some books out there, it truly boggles the mind. I think this is def one of those "you'll be sorry" situations if you don't pre-order it as it will likely be WAY more than $43 once it hits Y!J and/or eB.
are they preorder only? Or will they be available in a volks store? I'm going to try to get my friend living in japan to pick me up a copy when it gets printed at the volks store in Kobe, IF theyre going to be sold there. If theyre just preorder I might have to preorder mine too XD Does anyone have a pic of the cover so I can show her what to look for??
As far as I can tell, the final artwork for the cover hasn't been released yet. HLJ has a copy of the flyer on their site, but there is not an actual photo of the actual cover yet. http://www.hlj.com/scripts/hljpage.cgi?MDW22591 BTW, if you notice on the flyer, the regular retail price is about 4900yen and HLJ is still offering the book at the pre-order pirce of about 4700yen.
yeah, but itll be cheaper for me regardless because she can ship it together with the rest of my stuff instead of sending one book on it's own. but will it be sold at stores? or is it preorder only?
Did anyone else get this email from HLJ today????? "Thank you for your order from HLJ. We have received the information from Media Works that the item you ordered and that its price was changed as follows; Correct Info.: Media Works Super Dollfie Bible (MDW22591) 4743JPY (Early Bird Price JPY) As we will not be processing this order for a while, please cancel or reduce the qty on your order via our on-line status system if the correct price is not acceptable to you. If there is any problem about this matter, please contact at the E-mail address ([email protected]). Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in this matter. HobbyLink Japan http://www.hlj.com Tomonori Ozawa"
Price drop? CLEARLY THAT IS UNACCEPTABLE. They must've gotten enough preorders to qualify for a bulk discount from the printer. I love it when that happens! Their page still says September release. What does "a while" mean?
I thought it was always that price? Appx $43? I don't care either way, I just want it to come out soon.
just FYI, those of you who are ordering or are thinking of ordering the Super Dollfie bible, the official release date is Sept 30th from Volks. Those who ordered from Domuya.net will be getting theirs in early october. If you havent ordered yours yet, now is probably the time to do so! (hopefully the release date won't get pushed back again!)
I sent my info to preorder the book a few weeks ago but i haven't heard anything from them ever since. what shall i do now? any suggestions? i really want to buy it!
The order for the "Super Dollfie Bible" that I preordered about 6 months ago is finally in payment processing at HLJ.com... which means they should be shipping any day. They list it as IN STOCK! http://www.hlj.com/scripts/hljpage.cgi?MDW22591
Wow, 1700 yen for shipping seems high, especially since I could swear I asked for the least expensive rate... Is that in line with everyone else's shipping charges?
its a big book and yes, their shipping prices are very competitive and accurate. they charge less than Volks on similar items!
they're charging me 4150 yen. almost as much as the book itself... :S is there anyone from Europe who ordered the SD Bible that's been charged as much as me? i haven't paid yet...so if i find some cheaper place i'd go ahead and order elsewhere... ops:
They charged me 4150 yens too -_-U. I was thinking on change it to a SAL but it maybe took months to arrive (bad experience with a SAL package that never arrive *T_T*). At least we can buy the book without the high fees... I'll pay for mine tomorrow and hope to have it for next week >.<
okay...so it's the fare for Europe. geez... it's okay i guess. the book is well worth the $$. thanks for letting me know. ^____^ PS oh gosh i don't even wanna think about my mail getting lost AGAIN, had that way too many times in the past... :cry:
My friend went to the volks showroom in Osaka and picked me up a bible ^_^ Yaay! Now I just gotta pay her on Friday to mail that baby out.
there was one on Ebay the other night , it Looks fantastic! cant wait for mine , I also paid for it last week . :grin:
Glossy, boxed, hard cover. Very nice! Mine arrived today - only about 6 months since I ordered it!! Some shots in it are fantastic, and some (not many) suffer from "Volks Photography" if you know what I mean. Ken
I also received mine today - it's hardcover and comes in a cardboard presentation box, which explains the mailing cost right there. It has a lot of lovely pictures of all the standard models and a number of one offs - it's sort of a document of all the dolls available before the grand switch on 10/23. However, the one offs with optional heads have them numbered in the new system, not the old. There is also a pictorial tutorial on face ups using a colored pencil, and how they took the pictures of the dolls (after seeing their photography set up, I understand why my pictures are hit and miss - when you have a studio like that, half the battle is already won!). There are also pictures of Tenshi no Sato, a map of the compound, and what looks like a description of how to order FCS. However, there are not photographs of all the FCS parts available. They just have a distance shot of the glass case in which there are all the heads in all the skin tones. Inserted into the book are the postcard and flyer for the chance to buy Noel. It's all in Japanese, and I'll bet that it's limited to Japan only. This isn't a problem for me, since I really don't need another doll right now! All in all, it's a nicely done book, and a good reference for what's come before in Super Dollfie development. Marcia.
wow, I'm dissappointed, then! A big reason for the delay supposedly was because they SAID they were adding new fcs stuff! that's not much about it, huh? oh well... I'm sure I'll love the book anyway
Hi yes im in the UK and got charged the same... it is EMS so should only take a few says to arrive... cross fingers.... cant wait for it to arrive should be worth the long wait.. months lol :wink: Just thought I would add this link incase anyone wants to buy it... or look at it http://www.hlj.com/scripts/hljpage.cgi?MDW22591
Hi! thanks for letting me know. i should have figured it was because of EMS. oh well, it'll be well worth it i'm sure. and EMS is fast so only few more days patiently waiting.
Mine arrived this morning (on a Sunday, how weird?) and it was totally worth the wait. Such a beautiful book! There's some really nice photos of some of the new FCS heads -they really bring them to life. Definately worth getting! I'm glad I ordered it when I did. ^^
yeah, it's really lovely! I got mine too! I like how the presented it, and I REALLY like that the pictures of all the dolls are HUGE and highres and gorgeous!
I got mine this morning, and I am delighted. It doesn't have a complete reference of FCS heads, which is a shame, but I'm glad that they at least got some of the Mini SD FCS heads in there... very exciting!!! I hope that a 'new testament' comes out in the next year or so.
I got mine today, and it's INCREDIBLE!!!! I love pics, and these are clear, beautiful, and gorgeously costumed. I seriously wish I could read Japanese, though, as I'd love to know details on some of these dolls. If Noel was a girl, I'd try to get one from Japan....would be the perfect little sister for my Anais girl. Thanks Maz, for sending me the link! Michelle
I have had this question for awhile - does anyone provide translations of the Japanese text for books like this or the Carte d'un Ange?
not a problem......... its a brilliant book and so love the pics...... gosh I wish I could read it to... but the pics lovelyyyyyyyy..... :grin:
I don't know of any but it sounds like a fun project. If I can make time this winter perhaps I'll give it a shot. Best way to learn is to do, right? ^-^
