This head started out as a Resinsoul Long, modded into a Puppet Master Jester head. He ended up sitting in my closet for years because he just gave me the heebie jeebies I have decided to revive this guy and turn him into my chaos entity Azranox! I've started with a huge amount of sanding: Then I did a mock-up of what I plan to do. This seems do-able! The only thing is the mouth sculpting is super intimidating.
I congratulate you! I'm not easily spooked, but your original puppet master gave me the heebie jeebies as well! I look forward to seeing what you turn him into.
Oh wow, that's going to look awesome! What a creative concept, I love it! I can't wait to see how you'll be doing the second set of eyes. Will they be inset or will you sculpt them on? Good luck with the project, and may I suggest watching mouth sculpting tutorials on youtube to help you tackle that part (if you haven't already of course)^^.
Haha it's nice to know it's not just me! I plan on dremeling the eyes out so I can put four equal glass/acrylic eyes in. Watching tutorials on youtube is a great idea! Thanks, I hadn't even thought of that!
UPDATE! I have done a lot of work on the eyes! The main two eyes have been enlarged and rounded (though one eye needs putty to even it out with the other one). For the secondary eyes I drilled a hole in the center of each marked area and sanded out from there. I can't decide if I want to enlarge the secondary eyes, bring in the main eyes a little to make them closer in size to the secondary ones, or leave it as is. The whole thing is still really rough. I'm going to eventually smooth everything out. I've marked out a rough place where the mouth will go, and a circle where the peak of the nose mound should be. Additional update: I put the goal image over the updated face and mapped out what needs changing. Turns out the secondary eyes are higher up than I had intended, but they're good otherwise.
UPDATE 2: I've done a lot of work on him! I've sanded a lot of the lumps out, but I need to go in with a finer sandpaper to finish. I've fixed up his ears (his previous owner had cut off a chunk of each ear), evened out his main eyes, added rough lips and teeth, and fixed up the nose mound. I've also updated my end goal mockup (with an added faceup):
UPDATE: He's as finished as I'm going to get him, I think! He doesn't have eyes yet, but so far here he is:
