Summerbird Mini Discussion - Viola

I ADORE her body and face so much! I really want to order one because she's SUCH a cutie and I have a really good idea of the character I'd shell for her.

 

She is so pretty! I've been following the making of Viola on Instagram and I can't wait to save enough money to order her!

 

It's so exciting to see a beautiful, curvy doll! I personally haven't seen a curvy doll made as well as Viola. She has the perfect proportions and a super sweet face.

I'm crossing my fingers that I'll have enough money to purchase her during her 2018 preorder.

 

I’m so excited for Viola!! I just missed her first preorder by a day or two, but I haven’t been able to stop thinking about her ever since! I’m currently working on a layaway for another doll, but I should be done with him by the time the new year rolls around. I seriously cannot wait for her next availability aaah! I hope she ships soon, I’m starving for owner photos!! Specifically if anyone gives her a stronger faceup. ohhh I can’t wait to do one for mine!

 

I've been following Viola's process on YouTube and on Instagram. She's a beautiful sculpt! I love her curves, and that sweet face. The chest pieces are nice, too, for when you want either a busty, voluptuous vixen or a cute, curvy little guy (the add on private parts are a nice bonus). I'd really love to own one myself!

 

Can’t wait to get mine. Just wish I had ordered her in tan.

 

I ordered just her head this time but i hope i can get a full doll at some point. It's so nice to see a doll that has a body like mine!

Me too! And I feel like I’m in a BJD ground hog day buying the same dolls, clothes etc over and over. And Viola is 100% gonna change it up!

 

I think Viola will help. All I’ve bought are unoa and well... as much as I love them, I need something new. Viola will be a challenge and I think she’ll be fun to paint and hopefully photograph . I feel like my photos are just meh now. I think she’ll bring back that spark.

 

I may have a character who needs this body. She's too cute! And her proportions are realistic enough to fit in with my crew.

I regret so much that I missed her pre-order
It was only by a few hours, as I didn't think they would sell out so fast. I wanted her so badly, I even got a bunch of clothes and items in anticipation of purchasing her, my heart aches knowing i'll have to wait till next years pre-order to try and get another chance. But if there's one thing this hobby has taught me, its patience. Hopefully January will be in full swing soon.

 

She's so lovely! She's definitely on my wish list now. Congratulations to everyone who was able to order her!

 

I started following her because I was looking up doll mod videos, then she started posting videos creating her own bjd. I have been following her ever since and HAD to have her creation as one of my first resin BJDs. I never really found any that really grabbed my eye creatively. I have her coming in chocolate and I am beyond excited! I have so many ideas for her character I will be creating. I look forward to making custom,clothes and shoes for her, as well doing my doll photography.

 

Been drooling over Viola since I saw her progress photos and I am SO HAPPY to see the love the sculpt has received. She's on my wishlist, for sure. Can't wait to see owner photos!

 

I've been watching the vids related to the making of Viola and am super glad I'll finally be able to get a doll to shell my character. I didn't even realize the pre-order was happening when it was so I missed it by like a week haha. Oh well ill get the next pre-order. I hope she'll offer both pairs of hands next time, because I want them both and more if there are more made.

 

I'm very much looking forward to the next preorder. I hope the male version will still be available.

 

I simply love the sculpt, the body is amazing both proportion wise but I think it's very unique compared to what you usually see. I just love how chubby and morbid she is, though sweet thanks to the face you gave her.
Couldn't afford to pre-order one but I look foreword to future project you'll make

P.S.: Just for personal interest, have you consider make a SD sized doll, similar to her?

Just popping in to say that she's gorgeous and I'm happy you created her! I'm new to BJDs and was very much on the fence about even bothering with the hobby, since the dolls I was seeing at the start were all quite similar in terms of body type, expression, etc. I saw one of your YT videos about creating Viola and suddenly my eyes were opened to the other body type options out there! I'll be watching her preorders and your future dolls as well ~

 

I was so in love with her body that I set an alarm for her preorder time while I was at work. Hilariously it went off while I was stuck away from my work station and a co-worker had to let me know that they'd turned it off for me. I panicked about it causing a disruption and fibbed and said it was to remember to take a medication.

I finished paying off my layaway last month for a café au lait small bust body with heel feet and now I'm trying to figure out how to acquire a MiniFee Mio head for her.

I think I'm most excited about the fact that while I could do some digging for clothes for her and come up with some cute stuff, I'd spend just as much time searching for them as I likely would making them for her, so it'll definitely push me to be more creative again. I've already started crocheting a sweater for her!

 

Maybe Nixie, for the sake of another creature with an X in the name?

@mokarran you have created an amazing work of art! I saw a picture of Viola for the first time today and my immediate reaction was, "That's MY body shape!" I was beyond excited to see myself in doll form. Unexpectedly, I felt validated to see a beautiful body that looked like me available to others, not just a one-off sculpture. Needless to say, I will also be anxiously awaiting the next pre-order. Thank you for doing all this work in your "leisure" time. You are making a lot of people very happy.

 

She has arrived! Viola dolls have arrived in the United States! Yay Jess received the first 15 Violas dolls Saturday! There is information on her Instagram. I am so excited I ordered one and I hope I get an email that my doll was among the first 15 to ship from beers crossed!

As for the medium bust...I like the idea of 'Nixie' or just 'Nyx' to keep that x in there, like @tako-chan said.

 

As excited as I am to order a Viola for myself, I want to see what kind of changes you make! Viola is such a beautiful doll, and frankly you’ve inspired me to start building dolls myself. It’s always been a dream of mine, but the idea of sculpting (when I’ve never worked with the medium before) just seems so daunting. But I’m never going to be able to achieve my dream if I don’t try!! Has anyone gotten shipping notifications? I don't want to bother Jess about this lol. I saw in her instagram stories that dolls are ready to be shipped! I'm excited either way for those of you who will receive your girls soon

 

I was wondering about the shipping and wanted an update but she is busy trying to get them out. I have to wait because I am getting a face up and stuff. I am so excited!

Are you planning on making more option parts such as hands? Or more dolls? Any chubby males in Summerbird's future?

 

I would love to see more beautiful curvy bjd and a Boyfriend and Children that are curvy. I hope more artist will create more diverse bjd's.

 

Has anyone received their Viola doll yet?

 

Got my girl after she bounced around my city for a while. I ordered a body and added a head layer.

 

I received my shipping notice that my Viola has shipped! "Happy Dance" Jess did a beautiful job on her face up and she is just as beautiful as I pictured her to be! I can't wait for her to arrive to see her in person! Hope everyone else will be getting their dolls soon! Best Wishes Viola Fans!

 

This is such - SUCH - a beautiful and unique body sculpt. I'm coming up with character ideas to give me a reason to jump on the next preorder... if the Mystique head is available then, I'll never be able to resist.

I got mine the other day!!! I got a lovely body inclusive of phallus, and I've popped an Iplehouse Violet head on top.



His name is Mudawar. The tan match, Summerbird Cafe Au Lait to Iplehouse tan isn't great - Iplehouse's is much darker and yellower, but nothing you can't blush to fix. The facial proportions are a little larger than the Summerbird body wants, too, but it doesn't bother me, and it's not very perceptible with a good fluffy wig.

Honestly, this is one of my favourite bodies of all time, really topping out the list on first play. It's so poseable, stands without help (even in heel feet), and incredibly tactile and handleable. I just have absolutely no idea how to dress him!

what were you thinking of clothing-wise? I've tried a few things on mine, and currently Suvi (f) is wearing a Dollmore SD skirt with an SD tank top (as advised, the straps are a bit long so I have them pinned in the back). Shasta (m) is wearing Dollmore Mokashura leggings (a bit short in the leg, but with high boots it wouldn't show) and an SD shirt in FID/SD13 size which actually fits pretty well - it's not hugely long on him like the other SD shirt I had him in originally.

 

He looks incredible! What great body blushing, too! I'm definitely going to have to start saving for one of these; they're so distinct from other bodies available.

 

He's a lot heavier than my other two MSDs (a Dollzone Mo on the discontinued bw008-45 and a Souldoll Crispin on their double jointed 45cm body) as you'd expect and absolutely poses better. He's very softly strung, (nothing a bit of wiring couldn't take care of if I found it bothersome, which I don't) and has absolutely spectacular knees.

Well, I don't really want to cover up the blushing work I did as it took me so long! I've made him a burned velvet kimono and some panties, though, because #summergoth amirite

Thank you! I mean, all body blushing is fated to scrape off at the joints and I've sort of accepted that...

 

I'm waiting for the next pre-order myself. I'm so excited. I am trying to subscribe to every thing about Summer Bird and Momoni. They are my grails. I like the Momonita but she is a little small. I like to stick between 35-45 CM.

 

My Viola arrived this weekend. She's wearing an SD13 size romper and has the Vixen bust.

I heard that the new pre-order date is set. I'm so excited I could cry. I'm going to start saving now. I hope she has a few more slots than last time. I get paid on the 20th so if I'm super super lucky I can buy her right off!! I want all the options, extra feet/male options. I'm hoping to get her in the Violet. Fingers crossed. I have so much anxiety that I'm going to miss it or not get a doll!

 

Bump! I'm so interested in hearing more about her, but there so little info out there. Surely someone wants to show off their beautiful doll? Maybe even review it a little? I've heard plenty of good things, but I'd love to hear even more. (And bad things, if there are any!)

@Colorblindcrayons I know how you feel! She's so unique and lovely. I really hope the artist has enough success with this doll to do multiple rounds. I can only afford to buy one right now, but I'd love to have two just for the wonderful hybriding options she'd provide.

 

I don't know if I'd be getting the full doll or hybrid. I do know I will be getting both male and female parts and both feet. This will be my first doll where I have to WAIT. ACTUALLY do the dreaded waiting game. Heck.
