Hello! While I wait for the arrival of my realpuki papilio I've decided to prepare a Roombox steampunk style for him. First, I've been calculated measures and I opted for a 3 pieces room: base (35 x 35 cm) and two walls (30 x 30). These pieces have commissioned a carpenter. The remaining materials will be things that I have at home, extept paint. First presentation of the basic elements, supported with erasers and little things, hehehe. I've started the ground: medical sticks that have cut the tips and then I sanded. For the wall, initially I wanted to use only paper (scrapbooking, Gorjuss of DoCrafts). In this photocan appreciate the first presentation of how it would be seen ... not like it and decided to prepare a brick wall that will go under the decorated paper, as if it were old and broken. For brick wall I used foam board. I penciled in the form of bricks and, with a scalpel, I've been tearing the parties that would be like cement, making sure it is quite textured. With modeling tools I've spotted a little more textures and have given white glue to prevent react with acrylic paint. And that's all for now I hope you enjoy
This is very cute. Awesome idea for the ground panels. Curious to see what it will look like when finished. Keep us updated.
Thanks for your answers! At the moment I've only made something in the computer: I share a couple of pictures with color proofs, yet to decide what will be at the end ... I accept suggestions
I would go with the third one as the lighter background will be easier to photograph and not lose props or the doll in from people focussing on the darker colours.
Plucifer, Sprinkles, CBeck1: so many thanks for your answers I'm very happy to see people help me to choose and decide @jabberwocky92: thanks so much for your answer. I didn't though about photos... and your comment has very helpful This weekend was quite productive. As you can see (and sorry for the photos, I know you are very bad, but I can only do with the phone, for the moment) the project progresses ... The pipeline, only primer and a first layer of paint ... at this point I freaked out ... but finally with 5 layers, has been all covered part, as you can see in the picture below. The wall is also painted in the absence of a dry brush to give a little light ... In this photo you see how it is becoming. But there is still much work! That's all for now. See you soon and thanks for seeing!
I love how this is coming along. The brick wall looks great, especially with the red pipe, and I love the idea of having some wallpaper over the bricks, too. There will be plenty of visual interest when you have finished. I can't wait to see more.
Thanks for your support! It really helps me to continue the work I've been a few days away and I have not made much progress but something I could do: you're all stuck and varnished. What's next? Distressing old door, piping, wall paper ... painting kitchen and something more... I leave some photos
This looks totally amazing so far. I'd like to make some props for my Realpuki and a room set but I'm still at the idea stage! Did you use the tongue sticks fir your shelves too? Apologies if you've already stated what you've used.
@ smudge: hello!I hope you will be encouraged to make your project: it is challenging and worthwhile. For shelves I used 2mm modeling wood (often used for ship models and dollhouses), glued with liquid silicone If you have any question, do not hesitate to ask
Love the steampunk vibe and your detailed sketches. It's very inspiring to see the mixture of materials you used to create a one of a kind piece for your dolls. They are lucky!
Thank you - I would never have thought to try silicone glue. I was thinking I'd have to use wood glue.
Oh it's looking gorgeous this far! I love the pipe and the walls, this little room is going to be amazing when you're finished!
Ooooooh its so cute! That's such a neat way to make brick paneling. Is he going to get a little bed? or is this more of a "living room"? I cant wait to see more, and I bet your dolly will be super excited too!
@ Ellidyr. I wan't to do a bed (maybe just a japanese bed) on the second floor. I need more time to do the details
This looks great so far! Just yesterday I was looking at this tutorial for pipes out of drinking straws. Have you seen it before?
@thessalyrose. I didn't knew about that tutorial but it's very interesting I've been into warhammer and 28-32mm miniatures hobby and there I painted dioramas If you search warhammer tutorials sure you'll find lot's of interesting things to use for your dioramas
I could already tell you've made plenty of dioramas before! I haven't made one yet, because I collect larger dolls, but I like to make props and I love watching people like you build tiny stuff.
Hi people! I take my time to do it but... the kitchen is finally done! Now, I just have to decorate the upper floor and everything will be done I hope you enjoy
I love this @Mardala! Everything looks great, and your puki likes perfectly at home and sized well for the space! Are you planning some other steampunk elements, like a basket on a pulley system from the upstairs, or some gears or a clock? I just want to see you do more and more because you are so good at this! My tinies wish they lived there!!
Thanks everyone for your comments @whisperwolf: Yes, I hope do more steampunk accesories. But I need much more time. It's for that I use my re-ments to show you how it can be, once it's completed I wish I could have more hours at day!!!
I love everything about this project. It’s perfect. Thank you for sharing how you did everything. The bricks look realistic because of the way you painted them. They have that lovely almost soft look old bricks get. The pipe turned out wonderful too. Your little realpuki is lucky to have such a space.
I just had to comment on this lovely project. It was interesting to see the idea and the final form of the he roombox. This gave me a little motivation to continue to make my own roombox.
