Shopping Stands for 1/3 Dolls

    1. I searched the DOA database but all the threads were years old, so I thought I would start a new one for this topic!

      I'm looking for a solid stand for my 57cm doll and would love recommendations! I think I prefer the "saddle" style to the "around the waist pinch" style, but I don't have any actual experience, I'm just basing this off the idea of security and the fact that the doll wears dresses most of the time.

      I'll take ideas for 1/4 and 1/6 dolls as well, but since they are lighter I'm less concerned with a sturdy stand for them. But for my 57cm doll I would like to be able to set her up and adjust clothes, test the fit of outfits I'm sewing, etc. without fear (or less fear) of her falling over.

    2. I find the affordable stands from Dollspart to be fine for keeping my dolls upright while I'm sewing for them. I like them because the base is thin so it doesn't add height to the dolls.
      In other cases I use the coolcat stands with thick acrylic bases. And if you're willing to pay a bit more the Volks metal stands are nice but the thicker metal saddle part has to be taken into consideration if planning on close fitting dresses. ;}

      I definitely like saddle style stands when possible. For one of my 1/4 boys I wrapped a white metal stand with black tape to make it less visible. With the painted metal stands it would also be an option to spray paint them for a more neutral color.

    3. All six of my big guys use Ringdoll saddle stands. I don't sew for my dolls, so I can't speak to how well they'll hold up against that kind of poking and prodding, but they've been great for displaying! My only gripe is that, since they're adjustable height, sometimes they slip down when I'm yoinking dolls off them. But this would probably be solved if I tightened the screw with an actual screwdriver instead of insisting on just using my fingers, ha!

    4. I have several of the super cheap stands which can be found from Chinese sellers on eBay, aliexpress, taobao, etc. Mine cost around £4 including shipping (nb as I am in the UK I auto pay 20% vat, so your price will be cheaper ;) )

      I'll look into those Dollspart and Coolcat stands (and Volks too - although I fear that might lead to ordering dresses at the same time haha).

    7. Absolutely agree, I had my DDY, my SDGr and my MDD on these until Volks finally came back in stock with their metal ones! These cheap ones worked great, which i definitely didnt expect when i bought cheap xD!

      I also actually like the lower visibility on the cheap bike saddle one more than the large metal saddle one of the volks stands, but i do love the very firm stability of the volks stands >w<
