    2. There are some of us in Kentucky considering a road trip for this Con. Is this just for one day or the weekend? I have to schedule my vacation time way in advance, so I need to know if it's just one day or three? Also, is there an estimated time the hotel site might be announced? This way, we can know when we should make up our collective mind.
      Thanks!

    3. Hey Molly!

It is a weekend-long convention (we had contemplated going to a one day con this year but then changed our minds, so I'll fix that in a sec ;) ). We'll have our standard format of programming/workshops/events on Friday and Saturday, and a field trip to a photogenic location in St. Louis on Sunday.

As for hotels, the contract and details have generally been finalized in the summer in previous years. We'll announce it on our webpage as soon as we have it, or if you sign up for the mailing list we can email you as soon as we have the details :)

If you've got any other questions, let us know! :D

    4. Thanks for the link to the mailing list.

    5. I am pretty new the the community. I am excited that there is a convention so close to me :D
      I have my calender marked!

    6. Awesome Kaytee! We're always excited to meet new people! :D

    7. Already bought my ticket for it this year. :)

    8. I want to go so much!

    9. I just moved to the area, so I'm pretty excited to go and finally meet some people. Though a little sad because I only plan on going one day and it feels like such a waste to pay for the whole weekend.

    10. I'm getting more and more excited the closer the date. I am really hoping to book a hotel soon, I'm waiting for the hotel to be announced. We are hopeful it has an indoor pool. ;)

    11. BJD noob from Champaign-Urbana area signed up and hotel booked. This will be fun.

    12. Just a quick reminder to everyone that August 31st is the last day for the $30 regstration. We will also need to close pre-orders at the same time for our exclusive (award winning!) convention doll, Ginger.

Check out our website for more details :)

    13. Yay! I have registered and bought my banquet ticket. I am so excited to meet everyone. :)

    14. Quick reminder that preregistration goes up on Tuesday! The exclusive convention doll and pirate clothing preorder also ends at the end of the month! Stlbjdcon.com for more info :)

    15. I keep checking the website every few days to see if there's any news for the programming..... I'm getting more and more anxious and excited. I've never been to StL before!

    16. Awesome! I'm not sure when the next meeting is scheduled yet for official news, but let me go poke our programming coordinator and see what I can shake out of her ;) I know there were a bunch of new things scheduled (I'm hosting a pirate hat workshop! Tiny pirate hats! Yes!)

    17. Okay, that sounds cool! I'm trying to get an idea of how much $ to bring, so that would be great. Oh, tiny pirate hats!!! That's great, I have nothing that's for the con theme, my dolls and I and just coming as we are. ;) I'm not good at costumes.

    18. Sorry for the post delay everyone, we're having some life issues at the moment (who isn't, really? XD ), our next committee meeting will be around the 24th after some of our committee members are wrapping up a house move, whew!

Here's some of the information I've got at the moment for Workshops - once we finalize specific times we'll open up the website for people to register for these. We thought about doing it sooner, but we want to make sure the scheduling won't conflict (like if two workshops have to be scheduled at the same time and someone signs up for both). We've got over 15 hours of panels and workshops with more to come, just need to finish up arranging it all ;)

      Confirmed Workshops:
Our Guest of Honor, Mary West, is hosting a workshop to create a special doll stand with a pirate/nautical theme. The fee will be $25, the workshop is limited to 12 participants, 6 for SD and 6 for MSD.

Donnell Wisniewski, Regional Director for Illinois and Wisconsin region of the United Federation of Doll Clubs, will be hosting a wig-making workshop teaching how to create doll-sized wigs using human-sized wigs. Workshop price TBD.

Local sewing instructor Tricia Overkamp, aka our chairwoman, is hosting a workshop to make a pair of Pirate/ninja trousers using a cotton fat quarter. Class fee is $15.

And I'm doing my pirate hat workshop, the class fee is $10 and advanced sewing skills are most definitely not required :D

One of the cool things about the convention is that we bring in professional sewing machines and show you how to use them, so even if you've never touched one before that's part of the workshop fun in the clothing workshops :3

Other programming we're working on includes faceup panels, doll candy making, doll wings, and many other things I haven't been informed about yet ;)

We also have local and national vendors coming in from all over, it's a really good opportunity to see dolls and (try on!) clothes before you purchase.

    19. Oh, one other note, you'll be able to register for the workshops online but also at the convention if there are still slots available. Registration forms will be at the registration desk when you walk in :)

    20. Oh, my, now I need to decide on which workshops to attend. What a fun exercise!

    21. Okay! Sometimes I almost talk myself out of going, but this sounds great. I'm waiting for my published work schedule, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the weather cooperates for travel. I don't think it's usually too harsh in early November there, but I'm sure it's at least a bit colder there than in good old Kentucky. I'm really looking forward to meeting the whole St. Louis gang!

    22. Hey everyone!

So we're busy wrapping up last minute details for the convention, but I wanted to let you know we're running a special offer on our convention doll, Ginger! We have just a few left, but we'd like to send all the little ones to a good home. If you're interested in the doll, we're waiving the Supporting Membership Fee to get one - more details are here: SS Dolly Roger Pirate Special

In the meantime, our final list of panels and workshops are now on the website: Programming
And the official vendor list is also up: Vending

Woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo gonna work on printing the badges now XD
