I've been trying to reshell my primary boy into a Granado Noah (he was originally a Granado Michael), thinking that with all the measurement cross-referencing research I did, the sculpt will work just fine on the preexisting Impldoll body he's using. Oh boy, was I wrong. In the end, I had to place an order for an actual Granado body for him. But until said body arrives, he's stuck with the old one. Thankfully, the girls are more than happy to show their support, and I made a spoof movie poster to make things better. Because hey, if life gives you failed hybrids, might as well pile the other dolls around them for MOAR visual illusions until you get their issues sorted out, right? Spoof Movie Poster by Yela Gatchalian-David, on Flickr Both the faceup artist and I agreed that his makeup hadn't quite hit the mark yet (almost there, but still not quite there), so he'll have a second run at the studio once he finally gets the 75Adagio body. I laughed so hard at the poster Failing hybrids it's the scariest thing ever for me! I hope your new body comes soon.
He's gorgeous regardless I love the spoof movie poster, hahaha. Very creative! Hopefully his new body comes in pretty speedy. The faceup is some great work as well!
Oh man that's a well done movie poster spoof! I think that should be a trend that takes off, seems like a fun editing project. Hope your new body arrives in the mail quickly!
Haha, love the movie poster! Girls do make everything better! He does have a gorgeous face though, hope his real body arrives soon. I'm definitely feeling the hybrid woes, myself. I bought an allegedly MSD sized head recently, and it's the tiniest thing ever compared to my other dolls and doesn't look right proportionally on any of the bodies I own.
@Rurimas Even though I've made several successful hybrids before, there is still no tried-and-tested method to guarantee that a hybrid won't fail. Sometimes, one just has to cross the fingers and hope the various companies are taking their measurements from the same places! @soulofeden I really hope the artist will be able to replicate the scarring properly once he's ready to go back. That part was def nailed down, imo. @moonlightnocturne Awww, thank you! I just completely paid off his body's layaway (sounds so wrong when taken out of context), so hopefully by February he'll be complete. @Magnus Vale Oh, the pinhead syndrome! I so feel your pain, because my boy had a slight case of that in his old shell. Unfortunately, his problem is now the opposite end of the spectrum, and there's almost no way to fix a pin- or bobble-head except to go back to the drawing board. @Vindalootoo They ladies are just as excited as I am to see that Granado body for themselves. It's not everyday that there is an addition to the dollie "pickle jar," for lack of better term.
bwahahahahaha!!!! Both my boys ended up with mismatched heads. They weren't offering many options when I ordered the bodies, so I got both the 75 and 70 Noah, figuring I could mod them into my boys (it's got fabulous, as they say, Bone Stucshuh.) Then the MP came up with perfect heads, so I wound up with at least one extra Noah. I'll still use Noah for young Wesley, I'm just not sure which size. The nice thing about the 70Adagio is you get an option for the neck size, which is REALLY convenient to accomodate personal aesthetics.. I think I'll suggest that they give an option to get both chest pieces. I had a Soom Lazule I wanted for it and I think he was on 65-70, so I got the smaller neck and it's really quite a smooth mix. I personally feel the 70 Noah is a little small for it, so I might have to do some modding to use the 75 Noah head on that body when I'm doing young Wesley and JP. Fortunately, his hair is midlength and shaggy, which covers a multitude of bobbles. The R. Dean heads are, I think, wonderful on the vigor, which is 74-75. Which...is TMI. Sorry.
It was a Rosen Garden Rin Oni head, and I tried it on every MSD boy body I own, including a minifee, Myou Doll Type II, Doll Leaves Type II, Magic Time...they all looked way out of proportion. I even tried it on Doll Family H's new 1/5 body, but the neck hole is ridiculously oversized for it.
Ohhhh I had to look again at the 70Adagio's page and that's indeed awesome you could swap neck sizes. I was waffling a bit between waiting until Granado re-releases 70cm Noah and buying the 75Adagio, but I ended up choosing the latter. Does 75Noah not look too bad on it? The primary reason why I decided to go bigger is because my boy's female partner could potentially reach 68-69cm if she's on killer heels, and I wanted him to still be taller than that.
I'll get a pic of him with both Noah heads tomorrow. Took them quick tonight. Tried to get one straight on and one from slightly overhead on each. Sorry the pics aren't better. 70 Noah head on 70 body 75 Noah head on 70 Adagio And with simulated larger neck I think either one works very nicely. 70 looks about 7.5 heads tall, 75 about 7. Either is within the realm of realistic proportions.
Your movie poster is hilarious (and beautifully done)! I'm looking forward to seeing your lad with his new body and face-up when they're complete. Wishing you speedy and safe shipping!
Love the photos, the poster and the boy. That face is wonderful and I hope he is all you want him to be.
@Vindalootoo Thanks so much for the comparison photos! Looking at them, it seems I made the right choice to go with the 75Adagio instead. While the 70cm is indeed still within the realm of realistic proportions, I'd still want him taller.
