@SophieSinister, I'm sure he's out there somewhere! As for body reviews, he's on the Proud body, so you may check Youtube for posing ability. I wasn't able to find any decent ones on Google.
I'm really in love with their Fantasy dolls. They really remind of Doll Chateau, but with smaller hips. They have definitely made my list.
I have received my Sequoia head. Very nice sculpt. Normal resin. Doing the face-up myself. The head itself has some nice weight to it. Takes an 18mm eye. Like that very much!!!
Hello guys, I just happened to discover Spiritdoll and I'm definitely smitten by Proud Olea could anyone point me in the direction of photos of her or another one of the proud ladies? I really like their bodies and is now trying to figure out if they might fit in together with my Ringdolls.
@Charadas, there's a flickr group here with a bunch of photos! I already have a Spiritdoll Atropa and I hope they go well with other Ringdoll girls; I plan on getting a couple myself.
@Praesagium thank you for the tip, I haven't checked all the images (soo many!) but it seems like the boys are definitely more popular than the girls. Atropa is cute, I like that she looks a bit Russian, at least in the promo pictures
@Charadas, yeah that is true If I do see any of Olea, I'll be sure to follow up with them. And that's actually funny, because my Spiritdoll girl's character is Russian. Good to know I chose the right face!
@Charadas ooh Olea is so beautiful! O was supposed to order her with my Nymphaea and Hibiscus, but ended up not doing it. I just saw some pics of her from the doll show in Shanghai. Maybe take a look?
I'm so in love with the new fantasy doll "Little Mermaid", but there's no way I can afford that full set. (No matter how badly I want it.) If only they sold her blank. On a brighter note, I'm totally gonna keep checking the website for any new releases in the fantasy doll line. I absolutely LOVE the aesthetic!!
Late to the party, as usual... but there aren't many Oleas around, it seems like. I've taken very few pictures of mine, I'm afraid, so not a lot of spam to share. For some reason Adanna is just very, very hard for me to photograph well. She's a gorgeous sculpt in-person, but in a way that doesn't seem to translate well into a flat image. It's... odd. I don't have nearly as much trouble with Islyn (The only other Spirit Doll sculpt in the house-).
@Brightfires, Olea is beautiful! It looks like she has some blue blushing around her eyes. The wig my be bringing it out more. Have you tried a brown wig on her?
She looks awful in anything lighter than black thanks to the colors in her faceup... And yes, she actually does have teal blue highlighting under her eyes. (That was a bit of a surprise when I got her, since it doesn't seem quite so SERIOUSLY BLUE in Spirit Doll's own pictures, but it seems to suit her so I haven't had her repainted.) It's actually the physical details of the sculpt that don't translate well in two dimensions, I think, not a matter of the way the she's painted or the color of her hair. Depth matters when it comes to her features.
I have seen sculpts that do not photograph well. I do like your picture of Olea, so she must be even more beautiful in person!
I am so in love with Arrowroot But I realized I do not like the proud body at all, anyone have any 65+ body recs that'd work?
@echotexture , I do! It's a very old photo so I don't remember if they're 12 or 14mm, but I know it's one of them. Spiritdoll Snowdrop 2014 by Twa Corbies, on Flickr
Hello! To revive the thread a little, I just placed an order for Spiritdoll's new Proud girl, Dahlia. I'm incredibly excited because of how much I love her sculpt and how affordable she was for her size, and feel quite satisfied with my choice for the character she'll be. The body looks amazing! Anyone else seen this lovely girl?
Edit: I got choosy again and cancelled the order, lol. I'm still thinking about her, though, and am curious if anyone else felt the same way about her. Her sculpt is so intriguing.
Always look at the Spirit Dolls. The New 10 year Anniversary girl is up my alley. A skull face!!!! Her outfit is gorgeous! My only complaint is I love the freckles but... Her normal head has none. I am still tempted by her. Anyone else looking at the Anniversary girls?
Hello everybody! I have a favorite doll from Spirit Doll on the Proud body 1st version. I know that she can be dressed on the old body of Soom Super Gem clothes, one dress from Iplehouse Sid came up. I recently returned to the hobby and want to find out what else can come up. What do your girls wear? Especially interested in the outfits from Iplhouse. Can I have a photo? And a photo of my Karoline
My Olea is on the 2nd version of the body rather than the 1st, but that's an Iple SID outfit she has on in the picture I posted up-thread. She has several of the pirate/historical-style Iple dress sets and so far they've all fit.
Thank you very much! I saw your girl, she's beautiful. Maybe someday I'll also order Olea and Karoline will have a sister.
The light isn't doing justice to his skin, he really has a natural dark complexion, not just a yellowy tan. I'd say there's some burnt orange/reddish undertones. It's a great colour, very deep and rich. Makes a nice contrast to pale colours and creams and would really pop with vibrant jewel tones.
This is really good to know. May I ask how long it took for you to receive your doll/dolls from the company?
Oooh, yikes, my boy is second-hand, from the original 2009-2011 batch. His tan has really held up so I think it should be the same as the company's current one, even if they've changed formulae. He hasn't really changed or yellowed or much of anything in the areas where he's been exposed to light. Also, no sanding or seam marks on him, despite the darker resin. I have no idea about current wait times, sorry.
Is anyone waiting for Spirit Doll orders from December 2017 or earlier? I've read the spotty reviews about the their communication but just want to see if everyone is getting their dolls. I inquired about my order about a month ago and haven't heard back. I guess I'm just hoping for a, "Don't worry, I've got mine. Yours will probably ship soon." Kinda reassurance.
@RedYume I ordered back in September and my girl just shipped a few days ago. She was expected to ship after 6 months but took 8. I wasn't really worried, but I did ask for an update in April through the order site and they replied within a few days that they expected to ship her in May (which they did). Now I am just looking forward to receiving her (she is in the country but looks to be stuck in customs atm)
@Prinsessen Thank you for updating me. I feel better already and will try to continue to be patient. I'm so excited for your girl to arrive!!!! May she fly through customs.
@RedYume It is no problem She has arrived now and with no custom fees. Guess she just took a visit to the custom guys and went “nah, not gonna happen”. She arrived with a broken ankle, so I wrote to Spiritdoll to ask for a replacement and they wrote back and promised to make a new part.
Hello! I was just wondering if anyone knew if Spiritdoll and Dollmore were a resin match? I know they can do resin matching, but I would be wry to send even a part so far away. I just love their fantasy body so much and would love to hybrid it. C:
Someone in another thread got a paint color chip that matched her doll and sent that instead of a part. It's much cheaper to mail also! The white skins might match but both of my samples are a few years old. It would be a couple days before I could compare them. Maybe someone else can help sooner. .
I think I saw in an older thread white skin could match with Dollmore. And I've looked at resin photos to try and compare them best I can. And they do seem like they would match. I'm not in a hurry to find out. I would not mind waiting a few days to get comparison pics at all! Thank you so much!
Has anyone here ordered from Spiritdoll's taobao shop via an agent? I know that some shops won't sell to agents but couldn't find anything confirming whether or not Spiritdoll does.
After waiting a couple of months to decide if I really liked her, I took the plunge and ordered Physalia with her pretty skull face and ordered the skeleton hands from AOD to match it with her I really wish she was a full skeleton but this is also good. I laughed quite a bit looking at her in her full set with the skull face and ample cleavage XD Im trying to not think much. I know the wait is long but maybe she will arrive just in time for my birthday next january Did anyone else order her also?
@GreenTeaSlug Congrats! I didn't get her, but I really like her skull face, but I also wished the body was more skelety than just a normal body. Maybe, if you are lucky she will arrive before your birthday. My Little Mermaid took just over 8 months before she shipped.
Yes, via TaobaoRing. No dolls, but clothes. Atm I am waiting for an outfit. Spirits own shipping costs to Europe are so high that ordering via Taobao is much much cheaper. Also they use Airmail (with smaller things), which further reduces costs enormously. I would always prefer ordering via Taobao now.
Just a heads up/update on my spirit doll order. I ordered in December, paid off my layaway in January- approximately 1 month later. Waited several months for a ship notice (because these things take time). I asked about a ship date end of April, no reply. Asked again in May- no reply. Asked a few days ago by sending an email, a Facebook message, and posting to their website. I'm VERY glad I checked again. The reply was that their records showed I still owed $299 on my order. I received no notice and had I not checked, they wouldn't have ever shipped. I had to go dig through all my PayPal transactions to PROVE my layaway was paid off and had been paid off since January. If you are waiting for orders, I highly suggest you check on them. I tried the "patience" approach and have come to realize, they don't keep very good records. I may not have ever gotten my order and they would have gladly kept my money (which is a hefty four digit sum) without any notice of what they thought I still owed. We'll see how it plays out, but I can't believe how incredibly disappointed I am in their lack of communication, despite my repeated attempts to ask for updates and extremely communicative emails about payments I made, when I made them.
I had a pretty similar experience as well, with spiritdoll "losing" my payments which ended up delaying my doll being shipped. Definitely try to keep in contact with them if you have a layaway, whether it's "completed" or still active. Just to put in that @RedYume 's experience wasn't an isolated one
That sounds awful! I never bought by layaway from Spiritdoll, so I have no experience with it. Does Spiritdoll not send an email to confirm every payment?
@Prinsessen They do not confirm anything. After you send payment, YOU confirm It. Which I did, each time. It also seems the burden of proof is also on the buyer if it comes up that money is still owed, when it's been paid. If I ever buy from them again, I think it'll have to be full payment up front. Then again, there's nothing to say they can't lose my whole purchase payment. It is rather disappointing that this doesn't seem to be a completely isolated incident. I've got some Dolce heads that need bodies, lol. Not a lot of those floating on the second hand market.
Yup, when my payments were "lost" I had sent emails to confirm them and they still ended up saying "You still owe 235$" and I had to track back through paypal and my emails to prove I sent them and confirmed them I'll definitely never do another layaway through them, either. I'll pay in full, but not another layaway. It's easier to prove a full payment than it was to prove a few separate ones.
You could always order through a dealer instead I wasnt satisfied with getting an answer from them so I went through a dealer instead and Im very happy I did I only know that SD is difficult to deal with because I read about someone getting a different skin color doll from what they ordered and they wanted the person to cover the shipping for them to fix their mistake I wish the feedback on service / product forum was updated, there is nothing about the difficult service or mistakes there, you have to comb through the threads here or search it on social media
@NamelessPierrot That is exactly what I'll be doing in the future, if I order from them again. @GreenTeaSlug I've peeked around for dealers for them. Do you know if any off the top of your head? That may be a far better option. I just hope the order comes through safely and correctly.
