Since Spiritdoll has released a second 1/2 scale girl, I thought it was time for a discussion thread! The first was the LE Alice: The Alice -- 2013 limited 1/2 doll (sold out)_Dolce (1/2 size)_Dolls_Spirit Doll The 1/2 scale full dolls are here: Dolce (1/2 size)_Dolls_Spirit Doll The 1/2 scale heads are here: Dolce_Heads_Parts_Spirit Doll The 1/2 scale body and parts are here: Dolce_Body_Parts_Spirit Doll
Spiritdoll 1/2 scale dolls have also been discussed the the Lusion Companion Dolls thread: http://www.denofangels.com/forums/s...usion-Companion-Dolls&p=10049349#post10049349
I'm loving the body but I kind of wish the head was bigger.. Perhaps I'm just used to my Volks girls' big noggins!XD
We do get used to the larger heads on dolls, but I also like the dolls with more realistic proportions. You can make the head look a bit bigger with a fluffy wig!
I asked on their guest board if they would be releasing a blank head photo of Gardenia's head, and they wrote back and said to watch their website for one. I think she's lovely, I actually like this one much better than the Alice -- is it just me or is Gardenia's head a little bigger than Alice's? Maybe it's just the wig, but hope we can tell better with a blank shot. In any case I'm pretty smitten, it's the nose I think, but in their bright and dreamy photos it's really hard to see how much of the eye sculpt detail is in the mold and how much of it is in the faceup so I'm really looking forward to seeing the blank shot. If all goes well with some sales and some other things, I want to bring home a Gardenia sometime this fall/winter. There's a balance and delicacy to Spirit Doll's 1/2 girls that there just isn't with the Lusions, as much as I love my Eugenie. the only thing that bugs me is the non-jointed torso. On the other hand the price is much nicer than Dollmore's .
Great! I was going to ask for a blank picture, but I never got around to it. Alice is much prettier blank than she is with the company faceup, at least in my opinion. I like the shape of the Spirit Doll torso. I haven't played with her enough yet to know how well she poses.
Soooo.... pretty much... DITTO on everything Lirin said. I also asked a few questions on Spirit Doll's guest board - and thought I should post the answers here for others to see. I asked if Gardenia could be ordered in Tan skin, if I could order the Elegance (SDGirl) sized 'Ivy' outfit set made 1/2 sized, and if they could post some photos of the Gardenia head on the nude body, so we could see the proportions a little bit better. Here's what they had to say: Pretty good news, I'd say. Although, I don't think my wallet sees it that way - - Looks like it's time to start saving up!
There is an announcement of their 5th anniversary event here: http://www.spiritdoll.net/node/237 You can get the Gardenia dress for free.
Eeeep! Thanks for posting that - I hadn't noticed that announcement! Looks like it runs until the end of June - which pushes my 'need to order by' date forward by quite a bit. Darn you, Spirit Doll! I just posted a few more questions on their Guest Board, but probably won't hear back until after the weekend. I asked them if they plan to make a jointed torso for the 1/2 Dolce body, if they'll release photos of the blank head on the nude body before the Anniversary Event is over, and if they would consider a slightly longer layaway for an order for Gardenia plus some clothing/accessories. We shall see.... EDIT: Just got a reply - that was fast:
Excellent! Hopefully, they'll post some photos of the head on the body without any wig or outfit - so we can get a better idea of proportions. But so far, so good!
I never, ever, wanted a doll this size, but for some reason Gardenia is haunting. Does anyone actually have owner photos of her?
Gardenia was only released a few days ago, so there aren't any owner photos of her yet. I've seen one person's owner photos of the Limited 1/2 Alice - which is on the same body as Gardenia - but none of Gardenia herself.
Awwww.... I just looked at my message on Spirit's Q&A board, and the answer to my question about seeing photos of the Gardenia head on the nude body has been edited: While the circumference of the head is the same as Alice's - it still seems like the Gardenia head looks a little more proportional to the body. Perhaps the jaw is wider? Hmmmm....
I have Alice and I am hoping to get some better pictures to compare to Gardenia. This is a picture of Alice with Lusion. She is leaning back so it may be making her head look smaller. I'll replace the picture when I get a better one.
I've found a few owner photos of the Alice doll on flickr, and thought I'd share the links (not my photos): http://www.flickr.com/photos/aeldredolls/sets/72157633042582085/with/8574615355/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/sour_dotz/8572970432/in/photostream/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/sour_dotz/8572970300/in/photostream/
Thanks for posting the links to those great photos! My poor Alice is still blank! I did get her out of her hiding place place today!
I really don't like the body. It's so thick and large compared to Garedenia's head. And there is NOTHING to hybrid her with...
The shoulders are fine. Her hips are large. You could consider her to be an "art" doll like some of the Leeke bodies, or you can dress her in things that hide her hip size.
The arms did look very thick in that photo set.. But then again, she was leaned slightly backwards. Hm. Still not sure if she's won me over!>_>;;
It's frustrating - the head-to-body proportions look just fine in some photos - but awful in others. I know it's a pain - but I would really love to see ANY other photos you'd care to share with us, Nancy. No need for fancy backdrops or poses - just some straightforward shots would be SO appreciated!
Here is a combined picture of Alice. I put a wig on her this time. She is sitting on a human bar stool. She sits very nicely. I think she looks much better with a wig. On clothes and shoes, I don't think it's going to be too bad. I have found a pair of ballet style baby shoes in size 1 that fit her very nicely. I haven't gotten my box of baby shoes out yet to see what else fits. Clothes made for some of the vinyl dolls may work.
hi im searching for a large girl and i found this thread! i was thinking of maybe a dm lusion but i really like the look of the spirit doll body as it has less joints than dm lusion. does any one know how much spirit doll charge for shipping? im in the uk but it would be great to have an idea. also how long they take to ship the doll? is there a production time wait? ive looked at their webpage but cant find the answers thanks in advance for any help
Shipping for my This Alice was $89.50 to the USA. They will want 4% fees if you don't pay from your Paypal balance. She took about two months without faceup. A faceup adds another month from what I've heard. The shipping time was very close to what people had said it would be.
thank you so much nancy_schroeder_ca for all your help and info, that was so helpful. i will be seriously looking into getting garedenia
hi sorry to double post! i just wanted to share that ive ordered gardenia! i cant wait to see her, i ordered normal skin with no face up. i paid and emailed them that i had paid. does anyone know if they email thanking for payment or do they just continue with the order? im so happy i ordered her!
No, they don't send another email, but you can sign onto their site and check the order status to see if it has been marked paid. They don't seem to mark orders as shipped or complete though! They do email you when it ships.
thats great thank you so much for your help i really cant wait till she arrives! i will share photos when she is here
Hi I just found Gardenia via a blog and am head over heels in love with her. Please post more pics, lol! I really think I have to have this big girl.
I definitely second this. I have been waiting for Spirit Doll to release their Dolce line and have been in love with Gardenia since I saw her, but I haven't seen any owner pictures yet. I'm guessing she hasn't made it home to many yet, since she was only released about a month ago. This girl is definitely at the top of my wishlist though.
Gardenia was just released in late May, so I doubt if anyone has one yet. I was planning to order one on the June event, but their site was down for a few days. Now I will wait until my This Alice returns from the spa.
mine is in production so as soon as she arrives i will share photos. its been 3 weeks since i ordered and i didnt do a lay away service so she shouldnt be too long
Invie sent me final pictures of the new faceup on my This Alice! I love her! There are more pictures in the gallery here!
I think shes sold me. I dont like the way the lusions look and I have owned 3 spirit dolls (currently have 2) and i can attest their joints and posability are always rock solid. I wonder what she would look like with a dollmore trinity! my only peeve is if you look at the company head photos you can see her eyes are REALLY uneven ;-;... Im a stickler for that sort of thing therefore I will wait until they release another sculpt/ fix the current one/ re release alice. Its a shame because shes so pretty! Maybe I could get over it. To owners of her; how bad is it?
iplemons, in person you really dont notice any eye uneven-ness, im not sure if its the angle i had her at in the photos as in person her eyes look all ok to me. today i am waiting for the arrival of my dollmore lusion! its on the van and out for delivery, i had to buy her friend!
I received my Spiritdoll Dolce Camellia yesterday. She's white skin with company face up. Here's a picture. She was packed extremely well! Also, for those wondering about shoes for the Dolce girls, today I got her a pair of baby sandals from Carter's in size 1 (0-3 months) and another pair of baby slip on flats from H&M with cute panda faces in size 14-15, which I believe is the European size equivalent to the North American infant size 1.
She is lovely! I got my geta feet and geta. I wish I could get a whole doll, but not until I get organized! I would love to see a close-up of her face!
I have a Camellia incoming. Wondering if anyone has found good patterns that can be made to fit these lovelies. Tip about the size one baby shoes is great. I was sitting across from Spiritdoll at Dollism and they "grew on me". And then someone came over with their Camellia...
I am interested in any of you have one of these girls to help us with info on clothes that might fit. I will probably sew for her but wondered if there were any ready made clothes that would work as well. I have a Nymphaea on order and did see about the size one baby shoes working for them. Anybody have info for us? Please?
Hello everyone! I have a question to those of you who own SpiritDoll Dolce dolls already, please. Do they hold the pose OK without sueding? Can they stand unsupported for a minute under owner's supervision or collapse like DollsTown 18yrs girls? Thanks in advance!
Those of you with Lusions and Dolces both, would you be able to post more comparison pictures? I'm wondering if they work as companions to Lusions. Thanks in advance!
My Camellia is here. Haven't had time to make her anything to wear yet. More photos in the arrival/box opening gallery: http://www.denofangels.com/forums/s...tet-(NWS-Doll-Nudity)?p=11441457#post11441457
Lyrajean, she is beautiful! Camellia would have been my second choice, my first was Nymphaea. Is that a face up from Spiritdoll? It looks real good! Grats to your new big girl
It's a Bravot human hair wig. I think I bought it on ebay. It was a least a size too big but it looks good on her. They are pricey, but very nice! Here's their site: http://www.georgettebravot.com/contents/en-us/d4.html Here's a US seller, but I have never bought from her. http://www.thedollladyinc.com/index.html Correction, I found the wig and it is mohair.
The infant shoes that fit are more consistantly size 3 than size 1, I have discovered. This may vary due to the fact that her foot is a more mature shape than an actual infant's foot. Newborn size socks usually work however. Leeke size 11 wigs fit. I just got one off ebay 2nd hand. They are under the wigs etc tab: http://www.leekeworld.com/En/Produc...catalog_num=134&M_catalog_num=135&order_list= item_end, it_code &desc=asc The one I have is LB-012.
Thank you very much for your reply! I used to be a synthetic / kanekalon girl myself, however I found that most of the times the whole look of it on bjd is not what I wanted. Will check your referred websites!
I'm adding Gardenia to my holy grail list. I really like the big dolls. I hope to get the MA Iris and use her as my store's mannequin.
