Special event / Pet Dolls

I ordered a Dream Valley Kiki which is a seahorse/dragon pet doll. She's adorable, but probably paid too much for her lol. I have a DV Gary and Cary. Cary was 'free' because I managed to order enough to get her for free and Gary was maybe $150 full set. They are cute, but pricey.

 

I have DZ’s Big Brother (odd looking monkey) and Aileendoll Ricota. Both are treasured as they are unusual and were lucky finds. I’ve never participated in an event to qualify for a pet. I usually just want the pet, lol.

 

I'm really fond of odd little creatures. I've ended up collecting a fair few of them over the years.

My absolute favorites weren't event-gift pets, though. They were just non-human sculpts made for regular purchase... A Black Box Mochi fox and a pair of Cuarto's Darkhorn dragons. I'm really fond of my Eve Studio Tarantula, too.

Of the event gift types... I'm a fan of my Dream Valley Foxy and little Doll Chateau Emi ant. They're cute and fun to play around with.

 

I'm waiting on one of Dollzone's little tempura cats, and I think I'm going order the cactus bear from Dream valley. I'm not super-into event pet dolls (there have been a few I've missed that I would have liked to own), but these two totally have my heart.

If you're already getting a doll it's worth it, even if you have to wait a bit longer to make the cut. I just had to add some shoes and wigs to a Yo-sd size order and she came with an 11cm to be her own doll.

 

Oh no I just grabbed another one. I don't know where this sudden new addiction came from, but now I have a mushroom/rabbit/ghost looking thing with one eye on the way. I think this might be the last one...I've managed to avoid buying up a bunch of rando pet event dolls all these years, hopefully I can go back to not buying them again. But these were so cute!!! And Jeeryama keeps putting up the ones I happen to want as separate orders vs making me spend hundreds on dolls I don't want just to bring home a tiny cat dressed like a shrimp.

 

I wasn’t sure where to share but I got a new hamster pet for my dolls from Alice collections today and thought it was so cute I wanted to show him off (Xiao CangCang) - 6cm Pet doll from Sakura & Paper Studio bought via Alice collections absolutely adorable just need to get him some eyes. Anyone else love pet bjd’s? Which ones do you have if any or want? I also have some mystic kids bunnies Snowy and Pinky

easy angela dollzone, i really like her but i don't like how the horn is sculpted and i dont think it goes well with her overall aesthetic so i unfortunately wont be getting her even if i see her on the second hand market witch is a shame since i am a big fan of fantasy pets, i tend to be very picky with my doll collection because of the region i live in, i need to be very tight with money to survive

 

So... As a crazy cat lady, any recommendations for realistic looking BJD cats? I've seen cat-shaped figures (standing on 2 feet), but I would love a posable 1/4 scale kitty.

 

Eve the cat dolls has some really cute poseable kitties-- I don't have one yet, but I've been lucky enough to handle one, and they're so expressive!

 

Lessee, I have Peanut and Gru from Dream Valley on order and I REALLY want a Tea from their current spring event (yay for Jeeryama/Clover Singing offering them separately!) so I guess I'm well and truly bitten by the Dream Valley bug. I'm also intrigued by their mushroom event dolls (like the one VampireAngel13 mentioned above), I hope to one day get my hands on one or both of those. Also, they're not event dolls and I personally count them as one step above pet dolls, but I adore the Bigmouths from the Islanddoll Magic Island line. I have the long armed version in both white and black resin and the short armed one in black, only need a white short arm to complete the set.

 

Oh, I Googled. And I squee'd. And then I died from the cute. AMAZING.

 

I didn't realize I had so many special event anthros until I looked through my records.
My first was the Doll Chateau Snowman, then the Sakura & Paper Studio Xiao Jiu (a little bird), and
next was Doll Family-A Pan Pan (a penguin),
I'm currently waiting for Dream Valley Peanut, the cyclops kitty, I missed him the first time around, and I'm getting Fairyland's Absolem in a split (caterpillar).

I love anthros in general. I have other dolls, but I think if I could only have one kind I'd stick with the critters. And their eggs.

 

I just collected all of mine and...I have a lot. And most of them are blank!! Do all of you with pet dolls blush them yourselves? I need motivation. I have several 3D printed ones purchased from artists and I'm afraid to even try to paint them.

@VampireAngel13 Why thank you, it's adorable^^. I'm still on the fence about blushing my pet dolls. I don't have much experience doing body blushing so I ordered my Peanut and Gru with blushing, but now I'm eyeing Dream Valley Tea (Venus Flytrap dolls are another of my weaknesses it seems, next to pumpkins and cyclops...) and on the one hand I love his blushing but there's parts of it I don't like at all, so I'm still waffling about that one. An extra thing holding me back is that apparently Dream Valley dolls come strung REALLY tightly so I don't know if I'd be able to unstring and restring them>.>;;. At least with blushing you can remove it and start over as often as your can of MSC allows.

 

@ShuriTigerH I tend to buy blank automatically, but I kind of regret that with some of my pet dolls. And I have three black ones (and other on the way), and no idea where to even begin!

I'm probably making too big a deal out of it...but it really seems like a task, and I don't know where to begin. I sort of regret getting my DV cactus bear blank now. But the blushing was so much extra!! D:

 

I've got a little Sakura & Paper kitty that I haven't painted yet... not sure what the paint job will be, just that it will probably be a little companion to Marigold when I do.

 

Well, I just bit the bullet and ordered Dream Valley Tea from Clover-Singing (together with the chomper arm body for my flytrap girl), blank. I just know those few things I don't like about the default blushing would start to annoy me and shelling out 50+ extra dollars for body blushing I will end up wiping seems a waste of money. So here's a few more for the "need to blush/faceup" group^^;;.

@VampireAngel13 Ooh, black dolls? I love black resin I have a few of those, so far I like them just the way they are, might end up giving one of the blank ones (my Islanddoll Bigmouth) a bit more definition in his face at some point. May I ask what black dolls you're expecting?

 

The majority of my collection is anthro and pet dolls XD so I have a lot! Just on the pet side though, I recently got Dream Valley Kiki (seahorse) and wow that is a pretty doll! I have Gem of Doll Dommy too, but haven't done an unboxing for her so have no photos (she was a gift from my partner, who has to suffer all my doll waffle). I picked up Indy and Shifty (deer) from Cocoriang, and off the top of my head I can't remember which is the anthro and which is the pet. XD I also managed to get Dream Valley Loxy the last time they did foxes, and a Dumpling for good measure. And then there's the Sakura and Paper dolls - I have the bird, the hamster, and the fox anthro. I really want to pick up more of their dolls, maybe even another of the birds, because I just really like tiny birds. :3 Lastly I'm waiting on a Blackbox Mochi. I'm going to decorate it in pink and green and call it 'Dango' XD

I've missed out on a couple that I regret. I was into the Dream Valley giraffes from a few events back, just because they were so unusual. But I spent too long thinking about it, and they were gone. I also regret missing Blackbox Fou Dou. I came back on to the scene just a little after the preorder ended ;_; so I really hope they'll make more one day, because that is one gorgeously crafted doll!

Whew, that was a lot. XD Just be glad I'm not listing all my anthros! (Pipos, Doll Factory, and Cocoriang own my soul now.) I think the best thing is most of these dolls are so small, they're easy to collect and find room for. I really have to get around to doing the faceup/painting on my dolls though... ^^;

Aaaand I just remembered all the Aileendoll plapico dragon kits I bought... oh god, what is my life!

Edit: forgot my Loongsoul Poi, which is a sweet little dragon :3 so tiny and cute!

Edit edit: Forgot about Doll Chateau Emi and Eco. Yup, I said I had a lot! I couldn't say no to those cute little ant faces XD

 

@ShuriTigerH Of course! I have a little transparent black crow on the way from Miss Nekotaku on Etsy, I have one of the Sakura cats (I have the white one too, also blank), Nevermore, a raven made by the Mushroom Peddlar for as a convention doll several years ago, and then a kayke dolls raven, who is 3D printed, but still black.

I'd like to do something with them...maybe just gloss on the birds beaks or something. I don't know. Black resin (or 3D print plastic) is intimidating. I don't even know how to begin.

 

@VampireAngel13 Wow, that sounds like a wonderful collection, I'd love to see pics some time^^. My black resin crew currently consists of two Islanddoll Bigmouths (long arm and short arm) and a Dearmine Lupin bat. I saw Miss Nekotaku's little raven, it's adorable, I'm still debating getting one of her spiders (with the skull face on the body) at some point. She makes such original dolls^^. When you say raven doll I can't help think of Le Mouton En Sucre's magnificent Cachou, maybe you could check her site for inspiration on how to blush a black raven doll, the default photos have him blushed with subtle shades of blue, green and purple like the iridescence of real life corvid feathers, but she also has some very creative customs I think. Good luck figuring out how you want them!

Edit: I googled all the raven dolls you mentioned and oh my goodness, they're amazing, I had no idea so many wonderful dolls existed. I keep finding new ones every day it seems

 

Reviving this thread, cuz I just discovered that Angel of Dream makes pets. Specifically, they make a bunny and a turtle.

I am a little flabbergasted. How did I never see these before?

I have a Lati rabbit, I think pet dolls are worth the cost because they fit in with a collection and look like they come from the same world so to speak.

 

@NineOneThree , Adorable!! I ordered a Tokissi Blume (bunny) that is currently on his way, so many cute rabbits out there.

Alice's Collection had a deal on Kazari by Sakura & Paper during DollZone's discontinuation event last month, so my MiYou's gonna be coming with a cat. XD I kinda wish I had shelled out for the black version but money was already tight due to a convention that was coming up so I just got the white version.

 

I'm a sucker for anything catlike. Which, of course—extends to the pet dolls. Currently I've got a DV Moon who I'm infatuated with, and have a custom ordered Evedoll British cat based off my feline companion. In general I just love the creative ventures Evedoll has taken with their jointed creature collection. Their kittens are just adorbs, and the mer-kitten is absolutely the cutest thing ever.

Technically they're not string jointed, but Aaru Garden recently put out some hinge-jointed Egyptian themed and winged kitty dolls that I'm in love with. I have a soft spot for both winged cats and Ancient Egypt. It's a potent combo, for sure

 

I fell for another Lati pet. The head, legs, and tail are all held on by magnets, I didn’t try removing the arms but now I need to check my rabbit and see how the arms attach. So you can probably pretty much stick them anywhere with all the magnets in them, lol!
