SoulDoll Zenith Discussion Thread - Part 1

he's more cute than the others but i think i'll never buy a souldoll until they wont do better bodies for their dolls.
i wonder if they sell his clothes separately.

 

maybe you know, which size of souldoll clothes its better for a SD17/supergem body? zenith or souldouble? i always wondered but i never found an answer

 

I looked at the new doll and have to say he is "plain looking" compared to some of their other sculpts that are more creative.
The only interesting doll I would consider is Sydee and they are going to stop making him soon.
Not sure why they would offer "plain" dolls and stop making their most creative sculpts?
Clothing is another issue.
I find their lack of clothing for the dolls annoying at best. I still scratch my head over the lack of clothing and the sales they could generate from them alone.

 

I don't know if I want Kagel or not, because SoulDoll is the worst offender for arty looking pictures and weird face-ups that don't let you see the real doll. I want a blank head photo and a profile photo, or at the very least some pictures without all the hair in his face! Every time they do stuff like this (taking lots of pictures from the same angle, and pictures that are sideways or from weird angles) it makes me suspicious that they're hiding something about the sculpt. And I hate that I've-been-eating-chocolate-and-I-didn't-wipe-my-mouth thing they're doing with the lips right now.

I'd like a Soudoll Zenith boy, but I'll wait for someone else to take the leap and see some owner photos first.

 

Definitely Zenith. Double bodies are way too small, and my husband has both a Chiron and a Euclase and there's minimal differences in measurements between the two - mainly that super gem has wider shoulders and chest, and zenith has wider hips. We've tried Zenith clothes on the super gem and the only issue has been the pants, because super gem are so tiny in the hips.

Manscan - I think you'll find in the doll hobby that those things which are limited sell a lot better than those which are not, because people can always justify waiting for those things. Hence why souldoll only do limited runs of clothing - it ensures that it will almost always sell out. Their stuff goes so fast you have no time to mull over if you want it or not.

Quoted for emphasis. I usually don't even see they have made more clothing options until they are already sold out -- it can happen within minutes of them being added to the site. I was lucky enough to snare one of their ornamented wigs once, and that's purely because I happened to be looking at the site while things were being added. I have a feeling the quantities are very, very small -- which is really a shame with Souldoll especially, since so often their clothing designs are incredible, and the production quality and attention to detail is excellent.

I quite like this new Zenith boy, but I like his suit more And for a moment (just like with Soom Onyx the other night until I stepped away from my laptop and really tried to focus on my doll budget plans) I was really tempted to get him (just so I can get his clothes).

I found that the only thing I don't really like about the Zenith male body is the neck.

 

Hmm. I like him. For some reason he reminds me of a grown-up Lev (completely not based on any real facts whatsoever).
They make gorgeous clothes though.

 

Wow he's amazing! That face. I'm like seconds from buying him lolz but I need to calm down first. XD I think he has the most stunning face out of all them imo. *toddles off to toss him on layaway* I'm really hopeless...and broke.

 

Just stuck him on layaway. Don't think I've EVER bought a doll that fast when released. XD But he called to me and going to make him my dhampir Aramis or better known as "Cross". XD He's a readhead and Cross would totally wear that outfit too. Woah haven't been this excited in a really long time. And he totally destroyed my resolve to downsize my collection. XD;

 

Just when I was considering getting Chiron, they had to go and put Kagel up! Just a question though, I saw previous posts that their male bodies need better work done on it, can I know specifically what's wrong with their current zenith body?

 

Curious about this myself. I do know that one person's flawed body is just fine for someone else, but could someone who actually has one of these boys weigh in on the poseability of the body?

 

I don't think there's anything wrong with the poseability of the bodies. They come very tightly strung, which restricts some movements, but once you restring them they're fine. The only issue I have with them is that I don't think they're the nicest looking bodies aesthetically - their pecs sit rather low, and I've never really liked the look of souldoll elbow and knee joints.

I'd really like to see a lot of the dolls I want in person!
Though I doubt that would make me not want them any less.^^

My husband (prophetek here on DoA) has a Chiron, so yes I have one in the house. I think those kinds of things are just a personal preference really, there seemed to be this big gap of nothingness between his shoulders and pecs. XD Ours now has a scar on his chest so it kind of fills up the gap and doesn't look so odd any more.

 

I saw him last night. Me want. Me want now. And yes, the clothes. Heck, forget the doll; I want them in my size. The lips are a bit weird, but not so much that it's distracting.

So erm, other than pecs, are there any other "flaws"? like body-ratio proportion or etc?

 

I have the Centaur ver of Chiron and I love him. I was able at our local dollar store to get t shirts for him and I'm making him greek amour out of Alligator skin I got a Tandy leather. I should have his armour now this week. I got him a few shirts -elfdoll business style shirts fit him as well as dollmore pirate style shirts. I really like how he is put together and I'm glad i got him. He's been fun to sew for and I just ordered him jointed hands so he can hold his bow and arrow.

 

If money were no object, I'd have a room-sized closet filled with historical costumes, cosplay and gothy fashion wear. Dolls have all the fun.

Speaking of, I've noticed not only SD but other companies beign limited in quantity on clothing items. Boo hiss. To answer someone else's question, the Kagel outift isn't on sale seperately. I also found in SoulDoll's FAQ that, alas, once their clothes and wigs are gone, they're gone for good.

@Enzyme, wow! that's an awesome comparison! the FL-CL body is really hot (and to my type!!) Wished fairyland released them in 70cm too. zenith's arms do really look kinda short as well. I don't know if I should just buy chiron in set or get his head and make a hybrid (and I want Kagel's hair!! lol). I do remember someone mentioning elsewhere that all doll companies' bodies have their quirks, and I do agree that even humans have different shapes and size. But i'm just surprised that for that amount of money they charged, you would expect their body to be slightly more "proportionate". Still, I like some of their sculpting details (like veins on hands! @_@).

 

My friends and I just hit on KAGEL, so i get in here to find some information. Although I want to see a blank head as well, but this commend suprised me. I think Souldoll is not the only one that has many special make up on dolls. Soom makes a lot of special make up, too. but most of owners get their dolls exactly the same with the picture. Does it means that Souldoll's doll is always not as gorgeous as we see on the website?

 

The Zenith hands end where my hands end on my body, so I don't think that's disproportionate in overall length. They do have very large hands though, larger than their head, which may have been made to make up the length.
And irl with a wig the neck isn't long, it's the very small head which makes it seem that way in the pictures. Then again I own Soom and Dollmore dolls, so they're the standard of long necked to me. XD
Then again, I look at proportions from an art and patternmaking perspective, and only consider something disproportionate when my human patternmaking methods don't match up with a doll.

Edit: One thing I forgot to mention is that Chirons have a very flat head in comparison to other dolls. They just have their forehead and that's it. More realistic in comparison to humans, but finding a wig that doesn't look strange on him can be quite a challenge.

 

I'm super duper wanting Chiron, human version out of all the Souldoll dolls. I'm so picky about dolls. ._. His body is a little urk, but... Meh. The beautiful face makes up for it, and the body isn't that bad to be honest.
I dunno, from what I've seen, I like most of Souldoll's stuff. At least they don't have retarded joints. From what I seen, I mean.
Kagel is pretty handsome too, at least in his pictures.
I'd just wait a while and see user pictures first. ._. That's what I'm trying to do with Luts Super Senior delf Avalanche.

 

@kawaii_mon, thanks for the heads up~ since you mentioned that Chiron has small head, will he be able to fit in 9-10inch wigs? or will the wig "look" too big (or just nice) for him? I have a specific wig in mind for him (if I ever get around to actually place my order lol) but that wig and color only comes in size 9-10 inch

@Harlebist, I also want Chiron~ XD I love his face sculpt. But I wish they had a body with wider shoulders for him.

 

Okay, so there are other dolls with small heads other than Crobi?
CD Mikhail's head is so weirdly small that when I took my Leekeworld wig to
it is just kinda sat flat. @@
He's a 66cm doll so maybe it's the larger ones.

 

He will definitely not fit a 9-10. An 8-9 fits with a silicone headcap, but there isn't much forehead left, you have to sit it in a particular way. To get a 9-10 to fit you'd probably have to pad it out with velcro or something, even then I'm not sure how it would look.

I think of Crobidoll heads to be in the larger category personally. Not as huge as Volks and old Delfs can get, but certainly not small.

 

Yes, Chiron has the most gorgeous face I've ever seen. His face is absolutely spiffin for my OC Xalvox- all he needs is a purple fluffy, feathery wig and green pupil-less eyes.
My issue with the body is how much you pay for it to come so -plain-. Like, I dunno- he has the most plain body of any doll I've seen when it's not painted up really nice. I just don't know what it is.
I guess I don't mind though- not like he's always gonna be naked. xD

 

I'm loving Key the new boy. I've been a good girl but I don't think Santa will bring him to me this year.

 

I feel your pain, girl. I'm like, how can I get him? But I just put BH Logan on reserve and whatever $$ comes in from Santa will be funneled into other hobbies in 2011. There are anime cons, and JASNA is coming to my homwtown so I have to get a new Regency gown for the ball. LOL. I'm nosing about for possible solutions, but likely any Key purchase will have to wait for a basic version.

It seems that I'm not the only one in love with Key.

Anyone knows if the new dolls is only for the XMas promo or will they still be available after the event (sans the free event head). Key looks great~ but I kind of like Yurr more~ XD But still, Chiron beats them all, at least for me XD

Celina is no longer available as male I know, I pouted a LOT too and posted on their Q&A about it. They won't be offering him anymore, nor will they special-order him. If you're as bummed as I am, you should write them too! Maybe it'll convince them to bring him back.

I love the new boys Kei and Yurr in particular but I am not terribly thrilled bout the bodies. I am further seeing a female Yurr. I hope that after the holidays they release the heads solo. I noticed someone asked awhile ago about Lampard and they still havn't released just HIS head yet. It looks like I'm stuck if I really want one of these beauties. Souldoll's site is a dangerous place to play.

 

For people in here who own Zenith Boys, I have a question...

How dark is their NS skin tone compaired to other dolls? Ex: Iplehouse.
In Chiron's photos, at the bottom it shows his head in NS and WS. His NS looks so dark! I just want to know, because a doll I might use him for is pale, but not WS pale. If Souldoll's NS is too dark, then I'll look for another doll.

 

The normal skin has to be the prettiest ns shade on a doll I've seen. It's not too dark and not too light. Perfect in my opinion. I think its a better match for Luts normal skin and might get away with their real skin. Souldoll's white skin is paper white and matches some Soom resin batches.

 

My Key came arrived today. He's so big. I don't get to play with him until after Christmas (he's my present) but I at least got to open him to check for damages. They're not double jointed, correct?

 

How good is the poseability of the Zenith boy body? Any opinions and/or pictures would be appreciated . Thanks!

 

I'm in love with Key. He's so beautiful, I definitely want one, he shall be my Alair...but I already have 2 other dolls on my wish-list of dolls...and no money.../sigh.

 

I want to buy Hewer's head in future, what doll body matches him?
I checked on their Zenith's neck circumference, which is 12.5cm. Kinda big to me.... And I prefer 62cm and below boys.
I hope to seek some help here~ =)

 

Mazelord, I think the new Souldoll Souldouble boy body would also work for him, and is under 62cm.

 

I somehow just stumbled upon Kagel last night, and I think he may be the one...the one who makes me decide to buy a boy doll! o_O

I also find the Zenith body to be very aesthetically pleasing A good combo of muscle-y and lanky deliciousness.

But I have yet to get a confirmation on how close are their resin match.
I'm currently looking for a body to better suit my Souldoll Zenith Kagel ^^

Hi All!! I have looked around at various places for clothing for my Chiron doll, but I have not really found anything that I want yet, or that I know will definitely fit his proportions.

I am rather picky about my clothing, and just when I think that I have a pair of leather pants, for example, that I wish to purchase, I get worried that perhaps they might not fit him, since I have heard that this doll's proportions are a bit different than some other dolls the same size as he is. Is this right?

I was wondering if anyone who has this doll and has found clothing from different sites other than SoulDoll, since you can never get clothing there that has not already been Sold Out, can you please, leave me a message as to where you have bought your clothing and how they fit on him afterward.

I would really appreciate any help on this. Thanks!!

 

Okay, I'm new to this thread . . . but Chu, the Zenith lad they just released, is of made teh awesome. It's really too bad he doesn't seem to be a fullset, because I think that outfit, staff and wig are amazing!
