SoulDoll Zenith Discussion ~ Part II

Nov 11, 2014

    1. Jio is my favourite too - I already have currently two layaways going on, so can't justify getting another doll for some time, but I'm glad someone is getting him.

BTW I see Souldoll is getting on that trend on slender male hands and fingers - really like how they are looking, definitely better suited for their younger-looking head sculpts.

    2. @SolInvictus : I agree. I remember when they made the first version of the Zenith body and the hands were so huge in comparison to their faces. I very much like the proportions of their recent creations.

Although, I know for those who are ordering during their launch event, you get 2 types of new hands... but I'm having trouble seeing the differences?! They both look like they can interlace together.... Not sure how they differ, but I suppose I'll know 6 months from now. :XD:

    3. I really like Bin's outfit. :D
Unfortunately, there are no dress measurements on the Souldoll website. (I asked for it by email today.)
Because I would love to have this outfit for one of my dolls (= 71 cm). However, the Zenith dolls are only 65.5 cm tall ... :sweat:eusa_pray

    4. @dragoneye1300 if you scroll down towards the bottom on Bin or Jio's page, the measurements are listed for the zenith boy body.

      NEW Zenith boy body INFO
      >Height : 65.5 cm
      >Head : 22.5 cm
      >Neck : 12 cm
      >Shoulder width(including arm) :16 cm
      >Chest : 29 cm
      >Waist : 20.5 cm
      >Hips : 27 cm
      >Arm (to wrist from shoulder) : 20.5 cm
      >Leg (to ankle from waist) : 41.5 cm
      >Feet length :8 cm
      >Feet width : 3.2 cm

    5. If it helps, just in my experience the Souldoll clothing is very tailored and fitted to their dolls. So unless the doll is nearly identical in measurements, it might be a risk. Especially the pants lol. I think you would have better luck for a Tera Zenith outfit to fit your 71cm.

      • x 2
    6. @Suindo
Thank you very much for listing the doll body measurements! :kitty2

      @Dybbuk
That really helps me to know that the Souldoll clothing is very tailored to their own dolls. :kitty2
Maybe I'll be lucky after all. Because my desired outfit set does not include any pants. ;)
      Only these things:
I'm just a little insecure because of these two small differences. :sweat
My SD doll: Waist: 22 cm (Zenith boy doll has 20.5 cm.) / Hip: 28 cm (Zenith boy doll has 27 cm.)
After I have compared the outfit measurements, I think that the rest should work without problems. :kitty2

At the moment Souldoll is not offfering any other SD clothing that I like this much. And unfortunately this outfit is only available in this size. :blush

    7. @dragoneye1300 Worst case scenario, if you purchase and find it won't work, every Souldoll outfit I've ever purchased I've been able to sell 2nd hand quickly and the price I paid. Also, for one doll I just got a different pair of pants from another set and combined it with the other fitting pieces.

I agree though, their outfits are lovely. And you're still in the winter discount period to get 7% off the price!

      • x 1
    8. Oh yeah, I wish I was into buying outfits in the past as I am now because there are so many made by Souldoll I missed that I would love to find now... I'm pretty sure they are made in quite a limited quantity because they don't show often in 2nd hand market too...

I agree with @Dybbuk that they are tailored close to fit. I only just managed to stuff my soom supergem (2012 body) in one of souldoll dresses and I could barely close it even though their measurements are very similar. As long as there are no slim pants, there is hope, and I'm sure you would be able to find a buyer if it didn't fit!

    9. Wowza, I just paid off my Souldoll Jio (from layaway) and Souldoll sent me the pricing estimates to ship assembled to the states:

      EMS: $251.60
      UPS: $169.70
      DHL: $155.36

I have never paid that much for shipping a doll! x__x; The EMS shipping is almost half of what I paid for the doll! Luckily they offered to ship him disassembled to cut down the cost so I'm paying ~$78 for UPS, but wow. I couldn't believe it! Now to wait the long wait for my Jio to come home to me ToT

    10. @Dybbuk & @SolInvictus
Thank you for your encouragement! :kitty2
Souldoll has already replied to my request about the clothing measurements.
Unfortunately, I only received the Zenith boy measurements.:sweat
I'm not quite sure yet, but I might try my luck. If necessary, I can sell the outfit again.
And as you said, if the chances are good to sell it second hand quickly, so much the better. :kitty2

      Edit:
After sleeping over it for a few nights, I came to the conclusion that I should not order the outfit. It's just way too expensive. Especially when I'm not 100% sure that one of my dolls will fit.

    11. OMG!!! The shipping cost is downright terrifying! Sometimes it makes me think that EMS in Korea is doing something illegal by raising the shipping cost so high and it is trying to use covid as an excuse! For example, if I want to ship a 3 kg box to Korea using EMS from Greece, I will have to pay 59 euros! That's around 70$ to 75$. So what is happening in the Korean EMS? I can ship to them paying a reasonable fee but when they ship to me I have to sell a kidney?

      • x 2
    12. That is downright terrifying. I am kinda hoping my order from December will get delayed for a bit and for shipping prices to go down again until then. But realistically I know it isn't happening.

On another note they are aiming straight for my heart (and wallet) with Judith. I gotta stay strong and resist her. And she'll be available in tan skin too :love. But the shipping quotes are definitely helping me to be responsible.

    13. @darkangelxix : I'm extremely shocked too...and the doll companies are just stuck trying to accomodate their customers. I was so happy Souldoll let me do disassembled packaging.

@laquaza : Uwaaaaa yes! The Judith version in the red is freaking GORGEOUS. I love how Souldoll makes every fullset so complimentary of the doll. <3

    14. How is their waiting time guys?

    15. From what I've seen, buying direct and no layaway, it looks like roughly four months?

    16. Thats not horrible. Its quite alright.

    17. Yeah I was expecting much longer and was pleasantly surprised when I looked through the waiting room. :)

    18. 4 months?! That's pretty dang good for Souldoll. Some time ago I think it was more like 6 months... *_* Looks like my Jio won't deliver till end of April or early May. T_T Waiting is so hard.

    19. Does anyone have a Federer they can share? I’d love to see some owner photos! Kicking myself for missing his head in the sales event they recently had

    20. He looks amazing as both!! Wow so gorgeous! Thank you!

      • x 1
    21. Thank you and you are welcome!

    22. So I'd really like a Souldoll Lena in NS, but I'm not 100% sold on the Zenith body, mostly because the bust is a little... silly. Are there any viable hybrid options, or would it be better to just have her breasts modded to be smaller and more realistic?

    23. That's a great question. I love SD sculpts but the new Zenith bodies aren't to my taste. I personally was looking at IMPL star scale bodies but hopefully someone pops in here with more suggestions :o

    24. Female Zeniths have a small neck size of ~9cm. They fit well on Dollmore model bodies, and the color match is also pretty good. I used to have a Stella/model hybrid a few years ago.

      • x 3
    25. That doesn't look bad! Still not the ideal proportions I picture my girl with, but definitely better than than the Zenith by far.

    26. Just curious, have you looked at the old zenith body? Or are both bodies misaligned with the aesthetic you want?

    27. I do wish the Zenith girls had an option for a slightly smaller bust like the vito and kid girls do

      • x 1
    28. Just to chip into the hybrid discussion, I spent a loooong time looking for a good body to hybrid my Swinte head with, because I was also looking for something with a small bust. In the end, I went for Senior Delf Luts body (ver.7) in Peach resin (better match with more pink-based normal skin than Luts' standard normal, which is more yellowish). Looks good in my opinion if you are looking for younger-looking character. Head is 4 years old, so expected it being a bit paler - I'm certain it will match perfectly once I blush it.

    29. That does look very nice! An easily blushed resin match, too.

I've just secured a doll I was long resigned to considering an Impossible Grail- a "Human" version Shiva!
She's on the "Old" body, and quite age mellowed, but she's gorgeous.

      • x 5
    30. It's much better, but still taller and bustier than I'd like, and I'm not sure how much luck I'd have finding one these days. I'd like for her to be smaller than my Iplehouse SID Stella.

If this had slightly fuller hips, it'd be EXACTLY what I'm looking for. I'm trying to put together a 20-something transgender Korean girl for a character of mine; a soft, delicate, feminine, and coveted operatic vocalist trapped in a controlling relationship with her mildly abusive manager. Having her stand taller than the doll I'd like to have represent her newfound love and protector seems... awkward, I guess? I don't know; maybe I'm just being silly.

Anyway, both Lena and SeoA come close to my reference face, but finding the right body to suit my vision has been such a nightmare that it's sucking up all of my enthusiasm. :(

    31. @ChristinasDream Yeah, the hips on Luts body are not very wide. I can sympathize with the troubles in finding a perfect body matching the character - I was searching for it for a few years, and only last year Luts created the one that I bought. Companies do new bodies all the time, so there is hope that some would eventually do the right one.

Have you checked out by any chance the Dollzone 58cm body? It is very pear-shaped. It has a smaller bust option too, although slightly bigger than the luts body. Not sure if the aesthetic would be what you are looking for though...

    32. Hi all, has anyone done a hybrid with the Zenith boys? The new zenith body has a neck measurement of 12cm, is that what I need to use as comparison to other bodies? I have never hybrid a doll before, but I find myself liking a head sculpt (Izen) but not loving the body he's supposed to come with. He'd be coupled to an Impldoll Star girl, if that helps?

    33. Maybe this thread here will help you, @ryuunohime. The body I have mine on has a neck of 12.5mm, and to my liking it's too narrow for the jawline to look realistic (or healthy, or youthful). I would love a body with a bigger neck for a few of my heads, but I know that it doesn't bother most and a lot of people seem to prefer much thinner necks when hybridizing. It can be done, you just might need a silicone disk for the head not to bobble around. Hope that helps and good luck. (:

    34. Oh, thank you!! <3 I did a search in this thread but didn't think to look elsewhere.

    35. So! Jumping in here because I recently acquired a Chriron centaur head in gray skin, and I was hoping someone might know of a company that would have a good match for gray resin. He needs a body, and on the chance I'm unable to find him a gray Souldoll body, I'll need other options. I do have a B&G gray body but the resin might be a little darker than his head. I'm a bit fussy about color matching. And if I could get him something smaller than 70cm, that'd be even better! I'm just so thrilled I was able to get his head, which is currently with AngelToast getting a faceup. He was the inspiration for a very special character of mine.

    36. What do you think of Aspa?

I am in love :...(:D. She looks gorgeous and I am really curious about their dark sandy brown skin.

If only I liked their Zenith girl bodies better. But maybe it's better that way ;).

    37. Where are you seeing her?

    38. They posted her on their IG and their rep made a thread here on DoA.

    39. HOLY SMOKES! What a costume! I'm not a fan of the new Zenith girl body either >.<

    40. Oh no she's gorgeous!! I love the look. And that new skin is really pretty. I wasn't going to buy another souldoll back to back (I just bought Angel in December) but now I'm tempted. At least I have until June 30th to make a decision...

    41. Haha I think we got similar taste. I just received my angel :love. And now I got until June to convince myself I don't need Aspa ;).

    42. I just want the outfit more than anything--- it'll look amazing on my Shiva body :love

    43. I want that outfit for one of my girls so much! But they aren't selling it separately. :atremblin

I...think I will be annoying and beg anyway  Surely I can't be the only one to do it!

    44. If you ask them, let us know what they say! I've been tempted to ask, as well.

    45. That makes three of us ;).

    46. I'm totally going to ask. Maybe if enough of us ask they might consider it?

      :XD:

Edit: okay! Question posed! Now, we wait.

    47. @LiselT : What did they say about the outfit?

Also for those who already own a Souldoll Zenith girl. How well do they pose? I only have a Soulkid girl and it's my favourite body so far.

    48. Everything is good except sitting. I still haven't figured out what to pull or twist to get a sitting pose that isn't arched back..but any kind of standing or kneeling poses are fabulous.
      Soulkids are marvelous :D

      • x 1
    49. @laquaza It was a polite but big fat nope. :pout:

    50. I have the latest version Zenith girl body and posing was a nightmare, to be honest, everything but sitting in a chair was nearly impossible, especially standing on her high heel feet/ shoes. It gave me so much grief. I sueded her traditional style and now she is great to handle. I also took down her chest width 1cm, don't know if that made balancing easier or more difficult^^

I only have an older Soulkid girl body, and that poses as bad as the Zenith did, so I don't know how it compares to the newer kids.

      • x 1
    51. Let me go on a little rant... and I'm stating that as someone who adores Souldoll big ladies...

The bigger bodies are always more difficult to handle than smaller ones, but in Souldoll the difference is even more drastic.

The new zenith body stands and kneels very well because of how the knees are made, and if this is what you are looking for in a doll, then she will do perfectly because you can then just pose the arms around and let their beautiful hands do their magic.

However, the hip area is not made for sitting - she will lean back if there is no back on a chair or something. The chest joint doesn't help - forget about moving it forward or backward - it will only reliably move to the sides, and the breasts constantly look like they want to reach the sky above because of the back arch.

I have my old double zenith Madalyn sueded in every joint with glue gun and it is a pleasure now to pose - I might need to do the same with the new zenith body and see what happens in the hips area at least... or at least wire it there. I honestly suspect Souldoll wired Serena human version for their promo photoshoot because that's the only way they could pose her on those rocks...

Having said so, I still love the zenith dolls. I'm mainly putting my dolls on stands for display, so as long as they can be posed this way, I'm happy. But I would be disappointed if I expected the same possibility as the kids bodies.

    52. Thank you so much @fishcake , @Mandagore and @SolInvictus for your very valuable feedback.

I was actually looking for reasons not to buy her as I put myself on a doll ban for June. So far I only had the melon boobs on my contra list which can be hidden by clothing. But I think the posing issues can allow me to finally say no. Haha it's ridiculous how weak I am to darker skin tones (especially if they are limited) :sweat.

It's just that I bought quite a lot of dolls this year and while it's no problem financially I do not wish to develop any unhealthy spending habits.

    53. :lol:Oh dear... no clothes can hide those melon boobs in 3D/ in real life. They actually bend space and time in the most unnatural way. (Its the shape ofc, not the size.)

      • x 3
    54. There's a really great comparison of the two Zenith bodies here at Dimension Dolls. I'm so glad I got the old version

      • x 4
    55. I wonder why Souldoll doesn't give us chest size options for the zenith girl. The rest of the body is really beautiful though, especially the hands.

      • x 2
    56. Since the company is still downsizing their product palette for the moment, I somehow doubt they would introduce a new option now :( I modded my girl's chest, but I'd still go for a smaller bust in a heartbeat...

      • x 1
    57. Souldoll is offering their Zenith boys in dark tan together with the release of Quincy :love. They didn't say until when but I sure hope it's until end of August too. So to get Levine or not...

Anyway how does the Zenith boy pose? Can he stand and sit?

    58. @laquaza : I got my Souldoll Jio a few months ago. This is my first time handling the *new* male Zenith body and I think overall it's a nice body. Take note, I don't really play/pose my dolls often. I use a stand and display them so I'm not the best judge of body pose ability but I can say:

      - He is a sturdy stander. No kicky leg syndrome because the knee joint locks pretty well.
      - He can sit. They modified the thigh joint to have slits so they could sit without fuss.
      - The only wonky thing is his hips. I notice things can get a little dislocated/shuffled around but it's not horrible to deal with.

Overall I like the look of this body a lot more than the old Zenith. I feel it's much more proportional and the chest/shoulders more my aesthetic. Hope this helps!

I didn't cave on a Sandy Brown boy, but hope they'll do another event like that again. Hope someone got Quincy. He looked very handsome.

    59. Thanks for the review. That is great to know. I do want my dolls to be able to stand and sit for pictures :).

And your Jio looks great. I love the fan and outfit too. Can't wait to see him with a faceup.
