Shipping Soom will not allow combine order with different size dolls

      I really need help right here T_____T.
      I thought combination for any of your orders is possible as long as you don't mind waiting a bit longer. I wrote to Soom asking for a combine order of my little gem and super gem. To my surprise Soom said no

      Here is their reply
      "Dear customer,

      Good day !

      Sorry for the very late reply, we just came back from the New York Comic Con. (_ _)

      We are sorry, but it is not possible to combine these two dolls due to the difference size with the two packages...

      I am quite confused here since I see a lot of company allow combine. Also It doesn't make sense to me as well.

      So what if I order a little gem + a super gem at the same time. Wouldn't it make it as one order and one package to ship?
      In the future if I buy a teenie gem, little gem and super gem. I have to pay shipping individually for their shipping even though they can arrive at the same time.

      Since the shipping fee is quite expensive already. Why can't they help customer to save more on shipping by allow customer to combine orders with different size dolls.

      Do you ever combine order before? Are they okay when you ask to combine your order?

    2. Soom ships their dolls in specific shipping boxes designed for each size of doll. With two dolls of the same size, it's easy for Soom to tape the two boxes together to make one big box, but it's not something that can be done with boxes of dissimilar size. Thus, the separate shipping.

    3. Then what's happen if you order a little gem + a super gem at the same time in one order. How will they ship the dolls out? Will it be in one box or will they send two separate shipping?

    4. EDIT: Sorry, got confused. I'm not sure when both are ordered in one go.

      I could be way off target here - but maybe the reason why Soom will not ship two different sized dolls together would be because of the excess space around the smaller box? If they left the space unfilled, the smaller box could slide around and get damaged in shipping. If they filled the space, then they would have to calculate the extra weight of the packing materials, and you would have to pay for it. Either way, it's a lose/lose scenario for Soom, as you'd be unhappy at the damaged box, and unhappy that you have to pay extra, for literally nothing.

    5. Thanks for your reply tygati, adhara. I am kind of getting the reason why they will not combine my order.

      Still I am a bit quite confused, what's happens if you order two different size dolls at the same time. How will they ship out the doll. Will they ship the doll out in two separate shipping or will they take the risk and ship in one box.

      I am very curious about this.

    6. they will ship the dolls separately, each in their own box.... you will be charged a separate shipping fee for each doll.

    8. Oh man, if I know Soom better I will have order Obsidius, Nor at the same time and not be charge the extra shipping fees. Since both of them will arrive at the same time anyway.

    9. I guess I should have clarified, the shipping charge is calculated by the total weight of your order. So there might not have been much of a difference if any at all if you'd ordered them at the same time vs. individually.

      My friend and I ordered 2 Ambers on my account and they were shipped with two separate tracking numbers in two separate boxes. We paid one large shipping fee for the both of them.

    10. Well I actually did the estimate shipping and if you order both of them at the same time to Australia. It costs $65.30.

      Where if you order them individually, you paid $50.40 for super gem and $45.50 for little gem. Which make up the total of 95.90.

      So a combination in one order allow you to save $30.60, it's actually a lot for me since I am very tight with my money right now.

    13. Thats weird. Just few weeks ago i have combined orders for my Lami and London. London is a gem box and a tiny. With spare space they just put another tiny box with no lid.

      With a gem they probably had room in a super, or mega, gem shipping box for the gem + tiny boxes.

    15. London is an ID51 though. They could've just taken a bigger box from the bigger dolls, like o01101011 said. Also, the tiny box is shorter and narrower, so you can stick it into an empty space, perpendicular to the length of the big box. A little gem and a super gem though just make a really awkward combination, because the little gem box is too big and too small at the same time, and they probably just do not have a box that can accommodate that size difference.

      As for what happens when you order them at once - it's possible Soom would do what plenty of other companies do - contact the customer and ask them to pay a different shipping charge because the dolls that they ordered cannot be shipped together as calculated by the automatic shipping calculator. Or they could just eat the extra cost, but obviously, they don't want to do that if they can help it (which IMO is perfectly understandable).

    16. Okay great news guys. I received an answer from Soom and it's clear up all my confusion. I also post their answer here in case some one want to combine their orders in the future. Thanks all for your help.

      Now I recall having asked to one of our new staff member but it seems he was wrong.

      After asking again, but to the team manager this time, it is okay to combine dolls as follows :

      - two Super Gems together
      - up to three Teenie Gem together
      - up to three Little Gem together
      - one Super Gem and one Teenie Gem or Little Gem together.
