Soom Waiting Room V6

A five month wait just because of hands?? That seems pretty extreme - did they agree to cancel them for you? (I'm kind of hoping they meant May, not June...because I grabbed those jointed hands to go with my Garion, too. )

I messaged them and asked them and told them it seemed really strange that the hands would take all that extra time just for hands, which are also part of the garion mold anyway. So after a few emails about how strange this was... they told me I couldn't cancel the hands because they were in the process of being made. And I studied casting in college (fine arts major) and so to me that means, even if they had poured the hands that day, all they would have to do is put them in the pressure chamber, do whatever sanding or buffing they might do to clean up the hands and then put them in the box. So when I said that, they changed their tune really fast. I originally asked them to hold my order until May 15 because I'm going on vacation and they said everything will be shipped on May 15.
So we'll see.
edit: they're also just regular human hands. not jointed xD

 

LOL! I could understand if they were specialized hands and only being made in occasional batches, but the idea that regular hands might actually take weeks to create definitely seems...questionable. So around four months? I hope your boy is shipped as promised, and I hope I'll be seeing mine at the end of May or beginning of June. I don't mind the anticipation of the wait...but five months says it's time to hire a new employee or two. I'm pretty sure that's what Iple did, and it halved their production time!

 

It sounds like they need this. Everyone seems to be getting their dolls shipped just before the 100 day guarantee. Right? So maybe that would help.
If they don't send them by may 15, I'm going to be upset and probably ask for a refund on those hands because they sent me a guarantee twice that it would be shipped by then

 

Yay I picked up my Rudy yesterday (as I was out of town for Easter) and finally unboxed her today!

 

I'm starting to wonder where my Picro/Sammi is... the post office didn't deliver to the front desk for some reason (they can sign for packages there), and I put in a redelivery request for today (with a release to please just let the desk sign), but nothing...

I suppose I can try to figure out what his/her name will be while I'm waiting, but man, I'd like him/her to show up please.

 

@AubreyMeeksArt Yeah, I'd agree - four months is not an unreasonable amount of time to start getting a bit upset. Soom is very popular, and with good reason, but I think that they have never lost the 'we're small and struggling to keep up' mentality. There is no reason for them not to expand to meet demand, like any other business - and a business they are, like any other; their customers shell out a great deal of money for the product. I love them to pieces, but they should at least attempt to keep up with the wait times of other companies. Most have moved forward, but a few still cling to the days gone by when these dolls were a rarity that we had no choice but to wait for interminably. Honestly, I can order from Iple and expect to get my doll in anywhere from three weeks to three months, max. If one company can do that, then why can't they all?

@vicemage Oh how I have come to loathe the USPS, lol. If they can misplace, misdeliver or mishandle a package, they will strive their best to do it. I hope that you get your cutie soon!!

 

I was expecting the wait, but they made it seem like because I asked for the hands I would have to wait for an additional month and a half and it just didnt seem right.... and the whole confusion of, you cant cancel because the hands are already being made... but they wont be done for another two months... didn't make sense to me. Anyway I mean, I'm hearing the best things about this ID75 body. This is my first time dealing with Soom directly. I have an obsidius body which I bought secondhand through the marketplace and It's really gorgeous. But anyway, I mean Soom was really great with responding to me and hearing my concerns so even though the original thought of it taking until June scared me, I'm glad I asked them about it. (although if I hadnt asked so soon I suppose it would have just taken until June anyway.) I'm just really excited. I think they handled me and all my questions well xD Not going to lie, I already see more Soom dolls in my future xD

Thankfully, I got him today! He still didn't make it out into a redelivery, so I went to investigate and found out that my route has nothing but substitute drivers right now. The clerk who found it figured that, when the fax came in to redeliver it, the driver looked on the regular shelves, didn't find it, looked on the backup shelves, didn't find it, hit a time crunch and left without it... and without checking the Global Express shelves. But he was safely sitting there untouched, and I'll be unboxing him in a few minutes!

 

Oo, congrats! Such a sweet sculpt - I hope you'll share pics when you get a chance.

 

I definitely will! Though he needs to sit and let his magnet glue dry for a while first... it squirted out a bit around the edges and I don't want to risk gluing things that shouldn't be glued. (Like my fingers while I was working on them.)

 

I think she's a little fawn/deer. She includes ears and a little tail but I haven't installed the magnets on her yet :P She is quite adorable especially because she's literally the size of my palm XD haha!

 

Finally got my Morga today! Need to clean the house a little before I can open her up though.

Congrats @Nonexistent! Wow, I love Soom to pieces, but (yeah, I've said it before) I just have this feeling that they've grown big enough to hire a new artist or two. Most companies I've ordered from started working on the doll after the first payment, and shipped shortly after the last one. Oh well, at least your gorgeous boy is on his way! I hope you'll share some pics when he arrives! ^_^

Well, Soom promised me a shipping notice by today and they've closed for the day. I asked on their message board if they were going to send it and ingot nothing. All this for stupid hands they said were already in the process of being made in the beginning of April.
I really loved their customer service up until now and I understand they're super busy so I'm not bashing them in any way. I am just disappointed I guess I'm too excited for my boy xD

 

I'm wondering if anyone has gotten their Zak♥? I know I'm impatient but I just paid off my layaway and asked about him and they said my Zak♥ is expected to be shipped in June. It's faster than I expected. But for those who paid in full I wonder if they have already gotten theirs. I'd love to see!!!

Tell me about it! Soom is my fave male-doll company! I love practically all of the idealians This has been the longest wait i have had from them... I rescued my box from customs and found out they did not sent the CoA for my jointed hands x_x I'm trying to make the admin of the site understand that x_x, I was talking about the jointed hands, but seemed he thought i was talking about normal hands :'D I hope too they get more employes, half of the orders i have had with them there are been mistakes (no certificate, wrong head in fce, etc) and that can be due to overload of work

Whoot! I just paid off my Raon twins. Now the real wait begins.

 

@cyndscynderz From what I've heard, Soom actually starts making the doll and sometimes has it ready before the layaway is done, so it's good to be able to pay it off in the time it takes to make it. I thought someone told me that anyway. I had it made in the normal amount of time I ordered in January and received it in April. I hope that helps!

weeee guys thank you for all your comments regarding sooms layaway. i received an answer from Soom Idealian, they said that my Romantic Zak will be shipped by the end of July. Guess i'll have to wait 1 more month no worries hoping that july will be the month he comes home to me

@Rook_Sever Haha, yess. I couldn't decide which resin color and faceup style to get, so I ended up ordering two Raon fullsets. It will definitely be an interesting box opening, twin dolls will be fun. The wait is going to be killer though, I'm just so excited for them!

A bit late but I finally got my Zak and his box opening up! Here is his box opening thread if anyone is interested! I'm still waiting for his wig, shoes and commissioned outfit so for now, he'll be in a temporary wig and outfit that he "borrowed" from another boy (which is actually too small for him LOL). I can't wait for his stuff to arrive too so I can complete him!

I can officially say I've finally been Soomed! I just caved and ordered a Puss in Boots cat version with the cat eyes. That face! He looks so much like our cat Phoebe. Same mischievous look.

 

Considering that Soom has released ~360 dolls (incl. rereleased dolls. If you count all FCE/Post MD dolls too you're at 651 dolls) since 2008 they really can't count themselve as a "we're small of COURSE we make errors!"-company. Those extra waiting time for a pair of hands sounds really weird That really makes me thinking twice about ordering a pair if jointed hands with the Idealian I'm planning for autumn.

But I've heard from a few friends of mine that bugging them mostly resolves issues. They never told me for example that they put the wrong shipping label on my box.. it was pure luck that I found the girl who actually got my doll here on DoA (and I got hers... was quite a surprise when I got a tiny Mitoe/Zard instead of a x-mas kit Homme Wolf xD). We told Soom about it and they refunded us the shipping costs to get the dolls back to their original owners >,>

 

I was so excited soom did the free choice event right now with the crow body! I love the claws on that boy so much that I had to get him ! The sale is also so close to my birthday, I feel really lucky. I have been planning on buying some of the fantasy parts and modding them for a tawny doll hybrid but it seems that won't be necessary. I can just work on getting him painted! It feels like ages since I ordered a new doll. I've been waiting and planning for a hybrid for so long but I think I like this body in tawny just fine for my plans.

 

@akioshiro congrats! This FCE has really great range of dolls! Do you want Crow's head too?

 

I got the crow head too! I like the sculpt but at the moment the plans I have for the doll involve a dia head in tawny. I hope I can use the crow head as well for a different doll.

Yes, glad to see everyone jumping aboard the Euclase bandwagon! I ordered a Euclase in Cream White on the Crow body. I've been wanting Soom to release Euclase in cream white resin for so long!

I've always thought a Euclase/Crow hybrid would be amazing, though I'd always planned on trying it in grey resin. I'm planning on dying him either black or red. If I do black I'm going to go for a karasu tengu from Japanese myth; if I do red maybe some sort of demon. If only I could order two of these boys but alas, I'm saving for a house downpayment.

Somebody received shipping notice about Raon? So interesting, because my boy is ready for shipping, but because I am moving in end of the week at new house, we decide with Soom to wait next week.

 

I saw you finished your payment for him in June...
I paid mine on 25th of May and had kind of hoped he would ship the end of this months, but it seems they let me wait a full months longer. q_q
