SOOM Teenie Gem Discussion (MDs included) part 1

Guuuuuys can I ask you for some help? I need to know how well 16mm eyes fit into the teeny gems :O

 

Rinse, sorry I don't have 16mm eyes to try on my doll. I've got 14mm Soom silicone eyes on him now and they take up pretty much the whole eye (see avatar) leaving just a little white showing. Sorry I can't help more.

 

Mitya, Pepper and Mint are the same mold, only the other one is on a boy body and the other on a girl body (Pepper seems to be boy). The only difference is the pelvis part, where there is either a small dent or a bulky bit depending on gender. It's the same thing with Sweet (boy) and Violet (girl). And actually all MD Teenies are the same, same head mold for every pair and one is boy and other is girl (with the exception of Bygg/Beyla of course).

 

Can't wait to see it, Mushoom! I always love looking at other people's mods.

Wow, I'm glad I found this thread.

For all those who own Soom hoovlings... how hard is it to string the hooves onto the doll? I know that they are sent as a little human by default, but my little one will always be a little faun (I just ordered December's Soom Winnie Dee Ai).

All comments or even pictures of the process would be much appreciated!

 

It's quite easy, and there's a tutorial somewhere on stringing Sard hooves, which is pretty similar.

My assumption is that the elastic is plenty long enough that I shouldn't have to put anything extra inside the legs to make it all work out. Also, that the s hook for the hooves is easy to attach the elastic too. I guess I just want to see it done to be sure before I opened up a new dollie.

I was thinking about asking Soom if they would ship her with her hooves on instead of the human legs, but from what I hear, Soom screw stuff up commonly so I should probably leave well enough alone LOL

I shouldn't be worried about missing parts or damage for my little one should I?

 

I think Soom doesn't ship with hooves on 'cos they can't fit in the zippy pillow. Or something like that, anyway.

 

Oh LOL that makes since. I know that I'll be able to restring her. I guess I'm just nervous. This is my first real Soom. I mean, I purchased a Beyla Unicorn head here on the forum, but I finally bit the bullet and purchased a little faun to call my own direct from Soom yesterday. She is my Christmas present to me

 

They still fit in the zip pillow with hooves on- I've used it to take Cereus (Glot) to a dollmeet with her hooves on, though I don't know if they have smaller hooves than some of the others? I guess they ship them fully human because everything else is an "extra/bonus" part or something. It'd be nice it they could ship them with the fantasy parts on though. It only took a couple of minutes to put take her legs off and put the hooves on, but in the process I chipped her blushing a little bit, which was kind of a bummer.

 

I just ordered my Winnie Dee Ai blank. I didn't get clothes, eyes, blushing... nothing. Just the doll and its goodies that are included. So I'll have the joy of painting up a sweet little faun when she finally gets home. I think it is really cool that the hooves and romantic head and whatnot are all included with the dollie price. The cost was killing me, but I could swing a blank one

 

Was unsure of where to ask so I'll ask here... XD Does anyone know any other bodies that Soom babies can use that they match with well?In cream white of course. D:

 

I know that I am putting the white Soom Beyla Unicorn head on a Fairyland LittleFee body, white skin of course, and it will match exactly. There is a comparison pic around the forum somewhere =P

I am completely in love with Soom's Teenie Gems. I've been smitten since a friend of mine first pulled up Soom's website and showed me Glot and Glati.

I missed them, but brought home a Beyla and I couldn't be more please. So far I've learned how to restring her legs and replace her head... put in eyes (I bought 14mm, very pleased with how they look)... and made clothes and wigs for her. Oh! And had some excellent fun with faceups.



I plan on whipping up a brown wig for her 'human' version and adding matching eyebrows.

I really am having a great time.

Oh! Although she does fit back within the Soom pillow with her fantasy legs... her hoof 'feet' don't work/fit into the elastic bands within the sleeve itself. But restringing shouldn't be too much of a struggle... at least my Beyla wasn't... though I was rather hesitant at first - seeing as I'd never done it nor seen it done. (You-tube has lots of helpful guides from lots of helpful doll owners.)

love seeing pictures of all of them in one place ^^ I've got a beyla boy, but he doesn't have a body right now. I got fed up with the lack of posability with the teeniegem body so i've ordered a ltf body for him.

 

I was totally infatuated with the Skoll and Hati pair. It seems they don't get shown as much as the other MD tinies. The paws and faces are too cute.

 

Yeeeeeey ^^ I'm so happy! I got a Glati earlier in the year, and named him Quinn. I tried to talk myself out of a Bygg and then missed out and have been heartbroken since. I just managed to find one second hand though. I put a payment down on him and will pay him off in a week or two! I'm so excited, I can't wait to get him home so Quinn will have someone to play around with!

I've a Ai on the way to hang out with my Beyla... so I'd have to say I agree with the second statement... you'll have to update us on the first!

And thank you Mushoom! (I swear I've been reading your name as Mushroom for months now... geh, my brain is failing me!) Now that I put her OE head back on... I'm completely in love with it/her/whatever... of course it could just be the Glot horns and shoes... I do love horns and shoes

 

@lunarbackbone; Hahaha I think I'll go with the, 'they're better in two's' comment for now kekekee. If I get anymore I'll have to switch to the can't buy just one though hehe.

@Mushoom: Yey thanks! Yuile is soooo cute! I love her light look! Hehe yeh if I coulda I would've liked to have a girl and a boy, glot and glati are soooo cute together. Thanks I'm glad you like his faceup Lol it's funny how he ended up. I had this vision of him with silver hair and green eyes and a lot lighter colour scheme.. he got here and wanted none of that though and I switched everything!

I can't wait to get my Bygg, he'll be the lighter more serene of the two of them haha.

I love 'im, Shara! And I really like the subtly of the image as well. The tilt of the head - the angle of the light - the uniform color of the black sweater.. the color of the ribbon and the eyes. Yep. I like it. I like it a lot.

Well,the Soom babies speculation thread dates back to last year so I thought I'd just post here instead of necroing the thread... :S

Since all 6 elements have been covered for the Soom babies,does that mean next month's one is going to be from a new 'set'?
I can't remember where I saw it but I thought someone mentioned that there was one more in this set to come.

 

The thread comes back to life every other month... or it did. This next doll should finish up the last of the pre-mentioned gods from The Legend of the Gem

I know Soom said they were most assuredly going to continue their MDs... and The Legend says - Chapter One (or something to that end)... So I think the general thought is that we'll be seeing a new round of deities from that pantheon. There is hope they will include dolls of another size as well.

I'm all for that - as I love to see their work - but don't want to fall in love with anymore tinies. Sorry other Teenie Gem devotees - I can be a selfish creature. (Though, really, I'm willing to part with chunks of my heart just to see more little lovelies)

 

Does anyone know where I can get some boots for my boy? Something along these lines?

I've found shoes and boots for his size, but I'm looking for something that looks less like it came off the catwalk and more like it came from Wal-Mart.

Madera congrats! Those kids were gorgeously cute although the paws were not my thing... I wish Soom made more tinies in NS (but I may be one of the very few who think that...)

Since I really like extra parts and such, my boys are shapeshifters. So I'm keeping both heads for my Bygg and I'll switch between them depending on my mood lol.
So far all I've got for extra parts are the birdie feet.. haha but I went and modded them so they're a bit less chunky and chibi looking.

Here's to soom doing lots of cute baby animals this year that I can pick up parts for XD
