Soom Teenie Gem and Monthly Doll Discussion Part 14

Thanks! Me too. I'm still trying to decide on what I want for her face-up. She probably won't go out until mid-late January at the earliest... but that'll give me some time to enjoy her before I send her away. ^_^

I plan to probably send my OE Bygg head with her to get a more detailed face-up. The Soom default for Bygg/Beyla was very simple and it looks extra plain next to my Skoll's face-up by maiya.

A friend and I both ordered a bronze doll at the same time during a FCE and they were noticeably different colors. The difference in Light Violet is insane though!

Your girls are so prettty! Congrats on your Serin/Rico arrival! I called mine Rico because Soom told me that Rico was the official name for the Light Violet resin version. But if it were determined by gender, my girl would be a Serin I guess. ^^

 

I did't know about name difference, now I wish to know about first msd issue of mermaids x) which is which x) both girls and boys issues had both Serin and Rico names...

 

I think the first release of Serin & Rico was just girls (if I remember correctly). I could be wrong, but I think that was the case.

 

yes it was. that's why it is hard to understand who is Serin and who is Rico

 

Wow, those skin tones are all so different! I wish there were more like the Cheshire purple.

Wow, i'm really surprised! They have never offered special order and centaur dolls in previous TGFCE's before so that is pretty exciting! Also there are more options than usual too, usually there are six sculpts to choose from but there are 8 this time! Sad that there is no bronze or grey skin apparently though but still, I bet this will be really exciting for a lot of people. Strange there are no dolls from the "New MD" line too... I would have thought at least Feny/Necy would have been included based on their age in the overall TG timeline.
xD Anyway, thankfully i'm safe as I've got my eye on another doll at the moment and i'm holding out for Han/Asronn in the future. Though Rru/Lilid on the Dear Kitty Smokey body is suuuper tempting for sure hnnng

And I'm back! I sure like the alpaca body, but I don't see a head I'm smitten with. I'm sad I can't find more pictures of the lion head from rru and lilid. But oh man I have regrets looking back at the soom site....what was I thinking ! I should have ordered trachy and lami baby ghost chatter

 

I am so excited that the free choice is here. I'm definitely getting a CW Picro/sammi. Yay!!!

 

Dangit! I have been holding out hoping for a tan Feny. That has been what I've wanted forever and was pretty hopeful that sculpt would be included this time around. I'm really disappointed

 

The board seems to be down at the moment, so I can't see! I guess I'll have to wait to see all the options for colors... (and of course I'm spending all my money on a different doll this holiday, so I doubt I'd even be able to get one! DX )

 

AHHHHHHHHHHH Ive been waiting for this literally forever!!!!! Impeccable timing, too, as I get a bonus on my next paycheck :,) I at least need Sammi head finns, haven't decided on the rest yet x3

 

Their US notice doesn't seem to be working, but the European one is - and I can not see that they have CW versions of two centaur bodies. Which are two things I need to finish my last two Soom boys up. Lol gosh darn it all! Great timing by me and Soom! If I would have waited, or if Soom were faster, I might be able to get in on this! Ah well, next time I'll be ready, for sure!

 

I woke up early this morning to take photos of my new girl Aria with good lighting! I ended up taking her outside to sit by the pond, which was frozen almost solid! I'm really excited about the photos! She doesn't have a face yet, but I think she's still gorgeous. ^_^

This time, I decided to get the photos edited right away instead of waiting and putting it off for over a month (as I have been bad about doing lately). So I was able to take, edit, and post the photos all today!

@NoDivision You're in luck then, because Soom added Feny and Necy to their lineup!
I'm a bit confused as to why tawny is offered as a "tan" shade - wasn't it always bronze until now? I own both a tawny skin doll and several bronze ones and tawny looks like... normal skin in comparison.
Oh well, I own/have owned half of the dolls anyway so unless Soom adds even more dolls/resin colours I'm thankfully safe!

@NoDivision Here's tawny (Honey & Bunny release) next to Soom's cream white (the newer, paper white one), if needed I can also take lower quality photos of it next to bronze and brown tan!

 

Aw, I'm so disappointed there's no grey skin for the FCE! I was so hoping to get a grey Carbon..

 

Hm, I wish it were a bit of a darker shade, but I did find a comparison picture next to normal skin and it is visibly quite different, so I think it will look okay next to my other girls :3

 

@Collie oh just any pictures! Do you have a gallery or album of the lion head ?

 

The tawny dolls I have are not much lighter than bronze in real life. Soom has been known to change colors and keep the same name!

 

I asked Soom about Picros transparent parts. I was wondering what colour they would be and got this answer.

"The color of the transparent parts will be white color only for cream white and normal skin color and black color only for tawny skin colour."

Black resin? I'm suprised. I'm a bit disappointed they won't be transparent like before. I'm going CW anyways so blushing will help. I thought I would share for anyone considering Picro/Sammi.

 

....whaaaat? Black resin?? That throws a wrench in my plans... I thought it would just be transparent resin for all. Also maybe they will be transparent white and transparent black?? Would make more sense than opaque black resin, they didn't make black resin in a while??

 

That is what I was thinking, maybe they meant translucent white and black.

 

You're right it is either white transparent resin or black transparent resin, depending on your body/head choice! It's much more clear on the order page now.

 

I'm so glad it's transparent! Thank goodness.

 

Man, now I am having second thoughts! I know I want the Feny body but now I'm debating which head I want. I'm contemplating maybe going with Smokey. Hm....

what combinations are other people thinking about?

 

Yay for FCE! I'm thinking of getting a tawny surprise Feny/Necy. Although I'm a little disappointed that they aren't offering bronze or gray skin.. Tawny skin is very pretty too, but I would have wanted to have a little more tanned skin option.

I love the Feny/Necy sculpt, I already have two Feny/Necy Surprise heads, one CW and one NS. And a normal Feny/Necy head in NS. As I'm an aspiring Feny/Necy hoarder, I've been waiting for an FCE to get a tan or a gray surprise Feny/Necy or possibly both. But now that they are offering that Rru/Lilid Mountain Lion head I'm kind of considering if I should get a Rru/Lilid head with a Feny/Necy body. And in tawny skin.

*edit* Since I haven't posted pictures here in ages and I just took a couple of my Soom Keny, Thymian for the Advent Calendar in my blog, I'll just leave this here.

I was looking at the Rru head as well. It would look great on a feny body, and the ears go well too. I almost wish they'd offered the standard head in the rru/lilid sculpt also.

 

I'm thinking about a Sov head on a Bygg/Beyla body and the Picro/Sammi head on a Carbon/Luxullia body but I'm unsure about what skin colours... I was really hoping there'd be a grey option so now I keep going back and forth...

 

She is absolutely ADORABLE. Where did you get that hat and cape if you don't mind me asking?

Is anyone thinking of ordering from the FCE? I've been eyeing Picro for ages...

 

I wish to have Picro in snow blue or pale blue color, but FCE never offers that.

@NioSpica I am joining you in the Feny/Necy hoarding! XD I have a 2013 CW Feny I bought secondhand a few years ago, and just bought an NS Feny. So excited!
Here's my girl Chiyo who is waiting for her new sister. I blushed some new 2015 hands for her today and had to use quite a lot of grey, green and yellow tones for the resin to match - she's definitely yellowed since I first got her @_@ I'm hoping she won't look like a little green alien next to Soom's new NS!

I ordered a CW Picro tonight. I've wanted Picro/Sammi twins since they were released and now I'm finally going to have them! I can't believe I'm doing twins am I crazy?!! I don't care lol. I always thought it was interesting people owning two of the same dolls. Hopefully it will stick!

Well, two are wolves and one is the SO human version, but still, three of the same sculpt pretty much.

I wish I could jump in on this to get my own Picro/Sammi or maybe a Fenny, but I am going to have to sit this one out.

I ended up with two girls with alk/yrie face sculpts completely by happenstance

 

Chiyo's dress is adorable! Great example of how to use scale (in this case, the trim width) to emphasise the smallness of the doll, and hence its cuteness! Did you make it?

 

@juumou Hehe, you're welcome to join me in the Feny/Necy Hoarders not-so-anonymous. I love your Chiyo, she's super cute, dressed all in white. I'll have to take new pics of my Remy and Feni too.

I got my Remy (CW Necy) a new Soom CW body and although the difference in resin color was noticeable when the body was brand new, it has mellowed down since and the difference is not so bad anymore. I also have a slightly yellowed CW Ai and he looks OK next to my newer CW Soom dolls, so I think Chiyo will look just fine next to newer dolls.

Loving everyone's Teenie combination plans, keep them coming~! I really would have loved some fantasy-colored resin too... well maybe in the next FCE?

 

@phragmosis I did make her clothes! I'm glad you like it It's just a gathered lace skirt with bias tape waist and a snap, super easy. I'm not allowed to spend money on doll clothes anymore haha. So I just make everything myself. I feel like sewing doll clothes is a continuous learning experience. I usually try to choose yellowed or muted colors so her yellowing isn't quite so apparent, and she just looks 'antique styled'.

I'm so excited about the fce. Years ago when I first found out about bjds I ended up on the soom website and looked at the doll's hawa and flint caught my attention and I fell in love with them they were actually the first dolls that I liked enough to want. The price and the fact I knew next to nothing about bjds meant I didn't order one. So I'm very happy I'll be able to have her in my collection. Although I think I might be swapping her head for my (floating) lilid head.

 

I'm super happy about this FCE, too, and really glad I was able to get a layaway to work out... I've been aiming for Picro/Sammi for a while as the "water" part of my elemental TG collection (I already have earth, fire, and air, so I just need aether and possibly metal if I decide I need a sixth). And I've got a fun idea for displays for them, too, that hopefully I can start pulling together next year. They need proper wigs, too, but I may just get some fur for temporary ones so I can get them all out on display without breaking the bank...

 

I'm glad I'm not the only one who has a 'set' of teenies like this! Mine are the 4 seasons and I've been waiting for the opportunity to get a tan feny to be my autumn

 

Feny would be a great autumn! I considered him/her for an "aether" or "metal" option, but I can't swing two this go-around, sadly, and Picro is a lot higher on the list. I'm a lot more tied to having the adorable axolotl-looking thing than I am the fox, and I figure there's likely going to be more fuzzy Soomlings coming around who could fill in one of the remaining options. I still don't know what I'll do for the other... or how I'll represent either. Really, they're just excuses to add a couple more TGs.
