I went ahead and bought the fullset in cream using the layaway option and got the outfit and eyes too. Yay for my first Soom doll! Thanks for the advice, I'm glad to hear that this one is a little cutie

 

eeee congrats ^.^ we can be waiting buddies xD did you get the faceup and blushing too ? I was super close to getting the outfit but I don't have a character that suits it :< I also have to buy and add things to the wig I want for her ^^ should also see if I have any clothes that would suit her or if I have to make/buy some. Only thing I'm sure about is her name xD She will be Rosary-Pea

 

It’s rare, but Soom has sold out before the end of the ordering period. It happened with Dune/Nor Jr - I went to order on one of the last few days to find it already marked sold out! Still kicking myself for that one.

I audibly gasped when I saw the Andes/Tona release photos, because I was smitten. I love the green resin and it was so exciting to see the green transparent resin make a return. I placed my order the day after the release dropped.

 

I just want those eyes...

 

Finally got my act together enough to upload the pictures I took in early-mid May!

@Mushoom Honestly, my dolls could really use a restring sometime... but it's something I've never done before, so it makes me a little bit nervous! I'll have to try it someday because they're all so floppy!!

 

I've done it a few times ever, and just when I think I've done a good job I see shes still kinda floppy xD Can't remember if that means shes too tight or too loose

 

I may try to tighten one of mine, since I'm fairly certain they are loose because of how long I've had them. Some (most) of my babies are hot glue sueded, too, but it doesn't seem to be helping much anymore because of how loose they are.

 

I tightened mine by tying a knot inside her. Probably not the professional way, but it's working for now.

Thanks I'm very proud of myself, I usually just buy wigs are do nothing with them but I really wanted the wig to match the character in my head as much as possible Just annoyed I didn't start until she was here xD poor little resin person was bald for the first 24 hours of her being here

The wig suits her so well!! How does the green resin look in person? It's so pretty in the picture and the green of the wig compliments it perfectly!

 

I love the green resin. I was so worried it was going to be too pale. I feel like thier 'violet' resin is very light, but the green is very green I'll see if I can get some pictures of her with green things soon so u can compare. Obviously she's not as green as grass but she's still quite green

 

I think I would prefer that (not as green as grass, but still green enough to not be too subtle). More pictures would be awesome!

 

The green is really nice. I have a Selen in the purple, and I was disappointed with how pale it is... (Of course I was already a bit prejudiced - I had voted for the yellow... )

I have told myself to hold off on buying any dolls at the moment - I'm still in the middle of my grand project of cataloging and dressing the dolls I have.
I have portraits of all my Soom babies now, and they're all fully dressed, with proper wigs. I just noticed I do have some face-ups to clean up.

I do love everyone's pictures.

 

I have a violet/purple soom doll (yarn/Silky scorpion baby ) and it is very pale luckily I'm just in love with her face and tail. And I think if you really don't mind the work, faceups and body blushing can improve the colour. But it is disappointing how pale it is. That's why I'm pleasantly suprised by the green! I was so worried she was going to arrive and not be green enough for my character. But shes perfect

 

Still trying new outfits. And while I love this 'style' for her, Black really doesn't feel right for her. Still, looks damn pretty xD

So I intended to take pictures of her with green things... turns out, I don't 'have' many green things and its been nonstop raining, so no outside pics either I Did get to compare the Soom green resin with the Peakswoods green resin and the Soom green leans more towards 'green' while Peakswoods leans more towards turquoise in my opinion and is slightly lighter. If any1 wants to see let me know, although I don't think the picture shows it very well :/

 

I have a purple baby too (Rico Jr) and I would definitely prefer if she was a bit more purple. I did get a custom face-up & purple blushing on her shell ear parts, and I dress her in purple, which helps! I definitely wish the Rico Jr release had come with a purple mermaid tail instead of dark blue, since that would help emphasize that she's purple, but I still love her!

@Mushoom I hope you find the perfect outfit for her! That one is so fancy, but I agree the black feels maybe a bit too harsh/intense for her. I hope you get to take some outside pics soon!!

 

How often does Soom release their MD teenies now? I always wanted one since I first got into the hobby in 2009 but never really could until now. And it doesn't seem like they release them a bunch anymore.

 

I’d say it’s one every 2-3 months, which feels like it’s been that pattern for a while now? They just had one last month (Baby Puss in Boots)

Frankly I’m more concerned that they haven’t posted a release calendar since September.

 

I got two one layaway second hand. So excited to finally have my own Teenie Gem(s).

I was also wondering when they changed the glot/glati hooves? The new ones have that big round joint and it looks really weird to me. Also thoughts on Pale Violet? I know the color doesn't last long but I have seen it turn green, turn grey, turn white?

 

Both of my purple ones mellowed to more of a soft, cool blue.

 

My dolls are currently packed away in storage so I can't really measure for myself. What size magnets are used for the headcaps? I have a Keny who has the original magnets and they are losing their strength but also breaking apart. I know I can order the magnets off Amazon, I just don't know what size to get.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes they’ll usually post a “calendar view” around the beginning of each month with what they expect to release on which day in that month.

Does anyone know the s hook size that the teenie gems use for their feet?

 

Based on the chart on this page: S-Hook - The Gem
It seems to suggest that the Teenie Gems use size 14mm for the foot and 11mm for hands, but I don't remember the s-hooks being different sizes for the feet & hands in my Teenies, so I'm not completely sure if I'm interpreting the chart accurately or if I just didn't notice the difference. It seems like they are smaller than that?

My babies aren't super accessible to me right now, or I'd measure myself. Maybe someone else can?

Soom will open a free choice Event soon

 

I haven't seen news of this in my usual haunts, have they officially announced it anywhere?

 

They announced it on their Instagram back on September 30th but haven't posted anything about it since then.

 

In all fairness they have not released anything for a while now. I wonder what is going on.

 

They wrote under a Post the Teenie Event ist soon... lets see when xD

 

The new teenie gem event is up and I love it! Such a cool idea to have like a mix and match event! I haven't wanted a new teenie in a long time but now I might need one! The premade sets are pretty neat, but I would probably mix and match my own set!

 

The Myz Teenie Gem is pretty cool! I'm tempted.. There are no images shown of the model wearing these Rabbit Ears in either listing, though.. Do you think they're just a more-fluffified version of the Flint & Hawa ear? (the downward Bunny ears are shown on one of the premade mixes, but I'm having trouble discerning if they are different from what has been sold on older releases, like Honey and Bunny.) The cat ears, similarly, are more fluffy looking than what I can find around the site.

And the wings are nice, I'm a little surprised they are asking $50+ for them, though.. maybe they took a lot of sculpting labor, so it might be understandable.. Or(?!) does ordering the wings upgrade the torso part to have the magnet ports, maybe?

Anyone with more expertise? Are these all-new parts for this release? Or are there pics of these ears/wings/tails out there?

Man!!! The variety for body customization is so great, but I was really hoping this event would let you choose from all of their Teenie sculpts. I guess it's better for my wallet that way...

 

I'm a pretty big Soom fan (especially Teenie Gems) and though it's nice to finally see a sign of life, it's also a bit disappointing to me. I knew that a full rainbow Free Choice was never going to happen, but the standard peony white + cream skin combo is pretty lackluster.

Nevertheless, I tried to compile a list of part origins because I was curious. Made me nostalgic seeing all those past Teenie Gem releases...

When i didnt see the head sculpt i wanted, i first thought, so this is cute but at least i am spared...

after i realized pictures below everything loaded... i was not spared. i may have to plan an order, though i do wish they offered make up services.. but they do offer layaway, and i might have to get two so i can have a head modded close. Kar is so cute!!

also, i did see it says "always on sale", do you think that will be a permanent thing?

 

I am sorely tempted to get a new body for my Lukas and sell the new head, ngl. Especially if I can have the Han/Asronn tail to match his sister.

 

@Collie I think the bear legs are from Syen , I used to have that one. Syen had the stubby hands and the demon wings too (they might be slightly different but seems similar to me) .

I sorely miss my Syen, shouldn't have sold him, and this release has me all nostalgic. The stubby hands are honestly pretty silly, wish I could choose more than one set of hands!

 

I've never bought a Soom doll before, but all these fantasy options are winning me over!

I noticed that all the example dolls have either a pair of ears, or a pair of horns and never both. Does anyone more familiar with these lil guys know if wearing both at once is possible? I'm kind of assuming they have to be swapped with each other, but idk for sure.

 

Oh, you have a good point! Since the heads on offer do have ears built-on, I doubt that there would be additional magnet ports down lower. Maybe there's a space for them behind the forehead, such as where some sculpts wear oni horns? You've got me wondering how far ahead they may be thinking, for customization..

The alternate ears or horns could still be magnetized just fine through a wig though. I'll plan to do this, now that you mention it. May need something like a 10mm neodymium magnet for each of the additional parts.

Oh, those legs and foot parts are neat, but I think they're different, after all. The new ones are more roundy at the toes, and more fluffy around the ankles, but I see the resemblance for sure! Sorry you regret releasing your lil Syen back into the wild! Maybe he'll fly his way back into your home someday!
Just wanted to be sure you saw: with this build-your-own offer, you do still get a pair of the regular human hands, shins, and feet along with any fantasy ones you may choose. The fantasy parts are just added on to the default setup.
