D: I've been hoping (and dreading) another grey skin TG release because I've been really really looking out for a buddy for one of my other dolls (Angell Studio Kimi) who is all alone... and this little one could be perfect... I wonder if I could swing a layaway >___> ...

And I still have no idea what people are talking about when they say chess pieces. Do you mean the TG's are dressed up as chess pieces? I don't see any chess pieces in the picture. Or maybe I'm completely dense. O.o

However I do know for sure if they make this little Hati-bat available, he's coming home with me for sure >.>;

 

duskblue, I think the idea is that these little ones are meant to accompany the new Shale centaur, which is called the 'Death Knight' and has a sub-title of 'The Chess' so assuming he's the Knight piece, these tinies might be the Pawns.

I wonder what other pieces we will see and what sizes they will be!

I could definitely fit a gray Skoll into my doll family as another Shadow being (Luna,, my OE Bygg, is a Shadow being)... so yeah, that temptation is really making me squirm!! >.< I would love a gray Hati/Skoll sooooo bad! I always imagined I'd get a little girl Hati, but the gray Skoll looks really cute as a little boy! And I don't have any boys in my collection yet..... I don't want to jeopardize my bronze cat tiny though... But we might see a male Mini Gem FCE before we see another tiny one... so I might be okay...

lol! Look at me, my mind is racing with ways to make this happen, and we don't even know for sure what the deal is with these guys yet!

Soom really knows how to get me going! :P

 

People are calling them chess pieces because the latest Little Gem SO doll (Shale Death Knight) has an extra subtitle (The Chess) and comes with a little resin chess piece. The two Hati/Skoll dolls are dressed in a very similar style, and so it seems likely they'll be from the same collection. And people are thinking they might be pawns because they are Teenie Gems, while Shale (the 'knight' piece) was a Little Gem. Hope this explains things

I imagine that the King and Queen pieces will be SGs for sure!

Then there's the Castle/Rook and the Bishop! Those may be LGs too (to match Shale). I am dying to see what the rest of the pieces will be like! It would be great if they released others before the Teenies, but since teasers of the teenies seem to be being leaked already on Twitter, I think they may be next... >.<

I just hope they wait a little bit... preferably a couple months (if not longer)! At least by then I'll be back at work and can get an idea of my money situation for the school year!

I also wish Soom would be a bit more straightforward with when the next TG FCE will be... at the very least they could tell us that it won't be until next summer at the earliest (or something like that, if that's the case)! :/ That would help me out a lot as far as knowing if I have time to beg my husband to let me put a gray Skoll on layaway!

Oh, if they are Hati and Skoll, I am happy. I have no interest in owning a Hati/Skoll. If they were Yries, I would be sad... I still need another Yrie fantasy head on a human body to complete my goal of having Yrie raven twins.

 

Hati and Skoll...I really loved their original release, but didn't like the Feast of Spring version at all (I think it's because of the face-up). From the teaser pics, I am pretty sure that I like this new version, though. Which is why I'm hoping for them to be released in a few months, not right now. I'm pretty sure they'll be released towards the end of next month at the latest, thoughT_T

 

O.O He is out for delivery! I am really hoping that he will get here before I go to work. That way I can take him with me LOL I hope to have pictures posted this evening if all goes well.

Well... I got him... technically :P I had to leave for work, but my husband text to let me know that the box was sitting on the table waiting for to be opened when I get home. I work until midnight though so it may be tomorrow before I get to posting pictures

Aww! That's a bummer! He's so close, but you still have to wait! At least you know he's safe at home and not lost somewhere! This last little bit of waiting is always the hardest! :P

"You are correct, they are forthcoming versions of Hati and Skoll as chess pawns.^^ They are to be released shortly, so please keep an eye on our Gem site."

Oh, I was considering to get that Shale-centaur but now I'll definitely wait for a little gray Hati/Skoll! I've wanted a Hati or a Skoll and a Grit and this looks like a combination of both, haha!

The sand-elves look really cute and I love the resin-color options... however I'm not much into scorpions. Loving the paws though! :3 If it wasn't for the bat-Hati I might be really tempted to get one of those Sand-Elves.

 

Omygosh! Yarn and Silky are adorable, and yay for violet skin, just what I wanted! The sculpt is super cute and looks great in bronze as well! I can see these two being very popular! The only thing is, that I would have preferred them with scaly insect type feet, but I guess you can't have everything!

 

I really like the violet color also but not a fan of the scorpion bits.

 

Didn't we just ask for a purple Teenie? So awesome, I love both of them!!! Now I just need to find out how to get enough funds for the purple baby...

 

OMG! Soommmmmm... why now! I've been waiting for scorpian tinies since Vesuvia! (I don't collect SDs) but I NEED 1! I'm a scorpio... the stars want me to have 1!!!! I don't like the feet and hands though, human is great though ^^ But oh my that tail Think I want a purple 1!!! I'm not even sleeping on it or thinking about it ... I'm getting 1 and thats that! I couldn't get the birdie because something came up... but I don't care if i have to sell my soul... or an organ! I must haveee

My only problem is Luts, now....I REALLY want a Luts Pegasus, but I can't pass up these cute little scorpions, either. I do have the funds for both, technically, but I already spent more money on dolls than I had planned to (SDF Bory and Soom's Mountain Elf Rru...just had to have them:3) and I'd feel really bad about spending so much money again...especially because I'm sure these won't be the last dolls I want this year. Decisions, decisions.....-.-
I'm pretty sure getting a scorpion is more important, though. The chances of Luts making another centaur/Pegasus are pretty high, but Soom might never release another tiny scorpion again. Of course, I could also consider getting both, but maybe saving some money by not getting full sets. Dunno...

 

The new ones are cute, however I'm happy to see that they're not the gray Hati bat....

 

I am about to order a complete blank Silky without any extras, that will cost me 90&#8364; on layaway each month. I think I can afford that...

 

I just about had a heart attack when I saw the commotion about new tinies, but PHEW, I am safe!!

They are super cute, and I love the purple resin, but I'm not in love with the scorpion bits (although they are really cute) and don't need one for my own collection (I will enjoy other people's spam though ). The human version of the purple one is cute, but I can totally live without it! If there's any possible chance of me being able to get a grey Hati/Skoll, I will be pouncing on it with all my might!!!!

Hopefully Soom will wait to release Hati/Skoll for at least a month (to handle the orders from the Shale chess piece and now these new Elves tinies)... At the very least I hope they wait until I'm back from Florida (on the 9th)! I will have internet access there, but I don't want to have to try to deal with the logistics of begging my hubby to let me layaway one while we're trying to relax on vacation with my parents and sibs...

 

Ooh! I started my BJD craze because of Pukifees, but i really like the little bit of fantasy element that the Soom dolls have!

Would you recommend Soom for a first doll?

 

I hate Soom right now lol... I've been saying to myself (last time yesterday) that I won't get any more tinies and then come the scorpion TGs ;___; I have a bronze Vesuvia and my gf has a grey violet one, so I just can't help seeing those little ones as their baby versions or sisters or something awww... I don't like their fantasy feet and hands at all though, nor would I need an extra head floating around but... Heck, I don't NEED the doll at all, but I WANT! *hides her wallet*

When I first started collecting I couldn't decide between soom's Glot/Glati release or another doll I'd spotted. I decided on the other doll, however... if I had known how obsessed I'd be with soomlings then I would have got Glot lol Luckily I grabbed 1 secondhand later ^^ But I say go for the soomling But your decision ^^

 

I think Picro is like the doll of my dreams! I love her Dreamy face and that beautiful skin, but SOLD OUT!

 

Teenie Gems are perfect first dolls! You will still need a Pukifee though^^

 

I have been saying for the longest time I need a boy TG and that grey Skoll might be it.

Lol I came here to see what people were saying about Yarn and Silky, and the I saw the words "grey Hati/Skoll" and had a mini spaz attack. I was super hoping for grey wolf, but grey bat would work nicely too!

 

FluffleNuff, Soom is an awesome company to start out with! I highly recommend them because their dolls are incredible (and the tinies are super adorable) and their customer service is awesome! However, Soom deals mostly in Limited Edition dolls, which means unless the doll is listed under the 'Steady Sellers' list and unless it's a current release that is being sold right now, you will not be able to get any of the sold out dolls. Soom has been doing a lot of (limited) re-releases of older LE sculpts, but there's no guarantee that the sculpt you love will be re-released at any given time. If you truly want a certain sold out limited sculpt (and don't want to wait to see if that sculpt is re-released or if another current sculpt catches your eye), then you will need to buy second-hand.

For buying second hand (especially regarding Soom), I would stick to using the DoA marketplace (even if you have to wait to get access). You want to be extremely wary of recast/counterfeit dolls. Beware of prices that are "too good to be true" and (for now) try to stick to buying dolls that come with at least the CoA (Certificate of Authenticity) and the box too if possible!

If you need advice, or help, feel free to ask here or to PM someone here with questions! We're all very nice in this thread and I'm sure we'd be more than happy to help someone who is just getting into the hobby and trying to navigate the world of these expensive collectable dolls!

DoA is an excellent resource for BJD information, so don't hesitate to use everything that is here (just be sure to read and follow the rules, of course)!

I hope you find the doll of your dreams and are able to get him/her! And if it does happen to be a Soomling (which is a great choice for a first doll, imo), then please feel free to stick around this thread! I still have a lot to learn about this hobby, so the waiting time for the marketplace may be just what I need to get as much info as I need!

I love the pale blue skin that Soom has to offer! I would most likely look out for the pale blue releases! Wish me luck! :P

 

I think I'll pass on the scorpion tinies. I think I much prefer my scorpion lady's tail to their tails. They are, however, quite cute, and I may end up getting one if they're ever offered in a FCE. Really don't like that scorpion tail, I keep mentally comparing it to my Vesuvia's scorpion tail and finding it wanting.

 

*whew!* I am safe! I was sad that I couldn't afford a Lucky when they came out, but I still don't have money for a Teenie Gem now, so I'm glad it's not another fishie-type doll! I'm still regretting that I couldn't jump on Picro/Sammi when they were for sale!

 

STUPID SOOM! Baby purple scorpion is totally up my ally! Especially since I regretted not being able to get Vesuvia for years!

I still think I'll have to pass on this though So now I'll have something new to regret!

 

Don't feel bad, keep saving and look for a Vesuvia! I feel like mine is glaring at me and telling me those things are nothing compared to her awesomeness.

It's definitely a good idea not to rush into buying your first doll (speaking from personal experience here, lol!). This hobby is too expensive for rash purchasing (unless you're super rich, which I am most definitely not, heh).

I enjoy Soom's pale blue too, so I hope they release more tinies in blue colors! :3

Mini-Vesuvia! I love them!

I want one, in Bronze I think since I'm not super-thrilled over the violet resin for a scorpion. That might hold me off a bit on breaking my budget with a Vesuvia.

It's hard to tell. Is the Romantic head the only one with pointy ears?

 

I beleive so. I think the non-romantic head is the human head so no cool pointy ears I'll probably be opening the eyes a lil on the romantic head ^^ And I did have that thought about the resin colour (the bronze is super cute!) But I like purple lol And I'm weak for interesting colours lol

 

I will also open up the eyes on the romantic head, I love big eyes with fantasy ears I'd also love to pay my baby in full but since I will have a real baby in October that's not possible...

 

Dark_Shiva144, honestly what you said is true, Luts will release more centaurs and pegasus, because those dolls sell really well for them, Soom will not sell a teenie scorpion again, and it will be at least 2 or more years before they could even be considered for a Teenie Gem Free Choice event (which I don't think is likely depending on when and what they offer for the one they should have coming up at some point in the next 6? months). I would get a scorpion now, and wait it out for Luts, there is no way the wait for one of their dolls will be as long as the wait for Soom's limiteds>,<. Plus, you seem to like Soom dolls, and Soom has at least 7 or so more releases this year possibly&#8230;that is a lot of possible other choices.

I still only have my little Flint so far for Teenie gems, and I am slimming down my collection right now though I still have quite a few Soom dolls even after selling some >,<;, but Skoll bat/demon&#8230;dunno, that is pretty tempting, and if I didn't have three volks FCS on the way, I would probably even be tempted by the Sand Elves, because they have such unique faces and adorable scorpion tails, not to mention those amazing color choices. I really want a Naga or Water themed LG, but a Naga or Seahorse TG would end me&#8230;

 

I want to share my latest find with the thread...

I've mentioned it before, but my hubby's expensive hobby is guns and he recently bought some cases to store his ammo in. Not too long ago, I was telling him how I wished I could find a plastic tub/container of some sort that would completely block out the light so that my tinies could be stored in a light-free environment. Then, more recently, I was wishing for a hard carrying case for my tinies to potentially take with me when I go to Florida in just over a week.

Well, he was looking at his ammo storing cases when they arrived last week and then looked at me and asked if my tinies would fit in them. I said, if only they were shorter, they might actually be perfect! Well, it turns out they DO sell shorter ones! I measured his (width & depth) and looked at the dimensions of the shorter ones online, and they seemed like they would be a perfect fit for my tinies! So, he ordered me a couple and they arrived today...

A perfect fit for two tinies that are Soomling sized or smaller! ^_^

I plan to get some kind of (not-too-thick) cushion to go underneath them, so they have something comfy to lay on, but otherwise the fit is perfect! The cases are supposed to be waterproof too (they have an o-ring around the seal) and are heavy duty. They even have holes for locks and are stackable! Artemos, I am planning to someday have a centaur seahorse! That's where I'm hoping I can save enough for a Picro - I want to put one on a centaur body and paint it blue. :3 I'll give him a sea green wig, some green and blue clothes, probably teeny tiny seashells to decorate... Someday!!

 

Here he is!!! Uriel is so very awesome! I couldn't bring myself to remove all of the snowflakes so he has a little part of his past on his sleeve Still waiting for his wig and clothes, but he is still amazing!!!

Thanks Kelaria I got the pikachu costume on ebay. It came from China so it took a while to get here. He looks so stinking cute it too :P I love love love how Lil Spark did his hooves! They are flawless. Overall there isn't much work to do on him except for accessories and some blushing/tats

 

What kind of outfit did you get for him? What wig plans do you have?

I was worried for a second with everyone talking about the new Teenies! Yarn & Silky are pretty cute~ and I'm really digging that R.head, but their feet don't really seem like scorpion legs, is it just me or do they look similar to Taco & Dolomi's feet? XD

 

I agree about the scorpions, but there hands seem a little odd too me. I guess it works though.

Kelaria I actually ordered a pair of black/purple plaid shorts and have a leather coat. The wig is black with a purple streak that I am having commissioned. I will have to cut and style it a bit once I get it, but I hope to make him seem like a punk/cool kid.

 

What would scorpion feet look like? (photo of a real scorpion) My guess is that's why they're kind of... ambiguous? lol

Bit of a stupid question, but even if I order 1 of the sand elves without the extra human body, they still come with human hands and feet aswell right...? Priviously they have for me every time, but I just wanted to make sure it's not changed.

If the extra body is added, does it mean they will send just a solely animal body plus a separate human body? Or will that animal body set come with human legs and hands too?

 

I had ordered my Lucky with additional body. You will get two complete human bodies then with a human head and a fantasy head plus loose fantasy parts that you can use on one of the human bodies. If you don't order an additional body you will get a human head and a fantasy head, one of them on the human body and one loose plus loose fantasy parts that you can exchange against the human parts

I wish they would do fantasy-only bodies outside of FCE. I really have no use for human parts, ever. There's a whole bin of them accumulating.

 

You're all very welcome Minerva, I am in the same boat, I never have a use for the human parts... I'd rather have the choice to get a second body with fantasy parts instead of a second human body.
