Soom Monthly Doll January (Capricorn) the Third Land: Amber - Pure Spirit

As far as Soom not letting people know (until people asked) about the hooves not fitting on a normal Super Gem body without the special waist part, I don't think it's a big deal from their perspective. After all, I'm willing to be they're not big fans of the fact that these dolls get split up so much, assuming they're aware of it. They see the monthly dolls as finished, complete artistic creations. And the "legs not fitting" part only matters when you're splitting her up - if you buy her whole, you don't have to worry about it.

However, the rest of it - yeah, they're definitely a bit behind right now.

 

could osmeone help me clarify this so I get it better?

I've ordered Vesuvia and done a split with Amber to get the hooves. Will I need to also need to get the waist part and use the thighs and the hooves...or could I just attach the hooves to the vesuvia thighs?

 

I do actually like the idea as well, but I do think its to bad that she won't be able to actually crouch/sit with bend legs, I have asked Soom and they answered she will only have limited sitting couching with the new faun legs.

 

I agree with you, Soom is incredible when coming up with new things. I'd love to be in a brainstorming reunion there!

Yeah, I never really looked at it that way. I mean, I'm sure they know the splits are happening but I suppose it's not really their responsibility to say that they might not work out. It's just their responsibility to sell the pretty doll as a package deal. *L*

 

I guess i could try to sell DVDs to come up with more money..or put one of my other dolls up for sale..Hrm...Not sure what all I could gather. I have the money for the head..which is what I want out of my split..but..I'm worried no one will take the bod..and then I'll get stuck paying that. Blah.

Just to let everyone know, I just pm'd every split that it applied to that the fauna legs only fit on the fauna torso. Not sure if thats being a bit spazzy but some people I think didn't see the fyi post

 

She is absolutely beautiful. I would consider her if I had the money to pay layaway for her :'(

I've got crazy hybrid concepts over here, so it doesnt affect me, really, but i'm sure that there are still a bunch of people who hadnt seen the post about it that your pm's will help. ^^

 

Well, I'm splitting both her hooves and her waist/tail part, from two different splits, so as long as one of my split organizers doesn't change their mind and suddenly decide to take the parts away from me or cancel the splits, I should be fine. I'm also getting a pair of her horns/antlers from a split.

And of course, I'm going to be ordering the whole doll, blank, next week.

I'm kind of a "spare parts" junkie.

 

So at the moment we don't know if Amber comes with extra thigh/leg parts correct? Or there are extra thighs? I wasn't too sure just how many pairs of thighs and legs are coming with her lol.

 

I know someone's already replied to your post above, but i just thought of something else that may be a slight problem in this combo. Isnt Vesuvia a pearly purple resin, and Amber's whiteskin? Whether its just the hoof parts or the waist down, might it look a little odd with her being half pure white and half violet?


Lazulistar: From my understanding, it seems like she does come with extra theigh parts. Someone's post about Soom's message said that the waist part was necessary for the hoof/leg parts, so that leads me to assume that there has to be fauna theighs too, since the theighs need to connect the lower legs and the waist. Seems like the ONLY parts of her that don't have a fauna double are her chest, head, and upper arms, actually XD

 

Oh I've got pleeenty of stuff I could sell. XD It's all mostly non-doll related things though so I'm not too terribly sure where to sell 'em at. @w@ I've used ebay before, but...eh... *shrug*

Though back on the topic of Amber, I almost wish they'd give you an option to only get the faun parts rather then go through the trouble of having all her human pieces as well. Or vice versa, depending on your preference. It just seems like such a hassle to me, but that's just my opinion.

Yeah but assuming worries me, lol. As with IO everyone assumed the belt was attached to the skirt and a lot of people were surprised when it wasn't. That was a problem since there were like 4 people involved in the split. It seems there are extra thighs, but I'd love to hear it from the horse's mouth (aka Soom) lol XD *goes off to ask Soom just that* I like to be extra extra sure.

DamonGrey that is a great idea. Sort of like what Souldoll did, give you a choice between human or horse.

 

Just from my experience w/ Beryl, I think the legs w/ the minimal joints here is much better. I know not everyone has had this issue w/ the hooved dolls, but specifically w/ Aqua, when getting her to stand, getting ALL those different joints to lock and stay in place is a lot harder than it sounds, so I think the way Amber's joints are done is much much smarter. I'm so sad I'll miss out on her.

Very true. Assuming things isnt good when there are language translations and large grou porders invovled ^^;; Thats why so many people are having issues in the first place. When in doubt, ask the source. Poor Soom confused us all, and we're prolly confusing them right back XD;

well I just sent in the first payment for my Amber head and her body 8D

just have to hope the refund money from CH clears asap and that I can sell Kurumi's default outfit with ease and I'll be good X3

Oh, that would be neat if the fawn legs come with extra thigh parts! They do look kinda chunkier than normal SG girl legs in the pics but it is so hard to tell.

I would really, really love to see some pics of Amber in all her fawn parts with no clothing.

 

I used to have a LJ, but I don't really know anyone on there. XD So, yeah...I'm not too terribly sure how one would go about using it to sell stuff. @o@

Hm. Selling some of my random crap would make things easier. Would give me more room on my shelf and more money to buy stuff to fill the empty spaces with XD How exactly would one go aout selling on LJ? I've got one, but i dont use it. And i'm friendless. XD i'd love to go about doing on ebay, but i feel selling manga there would be utterly pointless in the long run due to fees and such. oh well. XD;;


I'm so excited, my group's Amber will be ordered likely tonight, so I can start serioulsy anticipating these hooves and my potential summer project of insanity because of them XD

 

I'm pretty active on LJ and deviantArt so whenever I post stuff for sale I link it on dA and if I'm on other forums that allow selling of non forum topic related things I link it there too. I guess it helps that I'm a total internet whore.

BUT there are LJ communities that are dedicated to selling/buying stuff. So if you make an LJ post and link them there it could help. Remember to link your ebay feedback if you have it so you've got some credibility.

 

You guys, Soom said they will update pictures of the tail and waist part... a million people asking them will just make more work for them to keep up with. And they're closed for the weekend now anyways...

Just sticking my head in here to say I saw Amber at the Soom Harajuku shop yesterday and she is GORGEOUS! I love her fingers, and the horns are lovely in person and and and...she's just so beautiful! Lucky lucky people, I wish you much joy in this beautiful girl! Soom's MDs totally blew me away to see them in person, wow! (*highly recommends the shop for anyone who happens to be passing through Tokyo*)

I wish I had known that there were questions about her; I could have looked...I think there were some other people planning to go to the store in the near future if you look in the GD thread about it.

I'm kind of freaking out since I was planning to order her right now but I can't because it says sold out on their site. On the website, it says the order period is until February 16 but this period could be closed earlier than noticed. So is she sold out for good?

I think they have a set amount of orders before it switches to 'out of stock' when Soom notices they'll switch her back 'in stock' ... I believe Heliot sold out many times during his order period (and I'm sure the others too) but was restocked until the last day of his order period ^^ so Amber will be restocked when Soom starts working again on Monday.

Ayase: Honestly, i'm kinda twitching too, but this happens with every MD that i've watched. It always hits a point where the set number "runs out" on the site, and a day or so later, soom fixes it. I'm sure once they see that she's hit sold out they'll open up her sale again. Happens all the time ^^'

edit: switfteh got to it first XD But yeah, every month's dolls have gone out of stock a few times--thus causing a mass panic among those who havent ordered yet XD;

Amber is my first MD doll as well ^^ but I was casually following Heliot.. so I know a little of the process... but not much ^^;;

 

I followed Heliot a little too before i decided he wasnt exactly for me, but i'm getting Amber's hooves and kinda somehow ended up running a split. I've never ordered from Soom period yet, but i've always found it amusing when everyone freaks out every month when the ticker hits zero and the sold out flag comes up--and now i undersand why, being on the buying end myself XD

 

heliot and most of amber will be my first dolls =] the zodiac dolls definitely melted my heart.

I felt seriously privileged to be there in the presence of so many awe-inspiring dolls! I had wondered how much of the MDs' beauty was real and how much was photoshopping--while of course everything had somewhat less of a magical glow, they were without a doubt some of the most amazingly beautiful dolls I have ever seen. I'm jealous of all you lucky folks who have or will be taking one home! (I totaly fell for Topaz, could in no way afford her, so convinced myself that she couldn't really be that beautiful in person...but she sure is... Anyone want to buy a kidney???)

I know not this blog that you speak of, though. If/when I go back to Tokyo, I will definitely check if there are questions about the MD, just for an excuse to go back there, although that probably won't be until next month or even April.

 

Soom does restock on the monthly dolls when they go out of stock prior to the ending of the order period, right? ^_^;;

We just gotta keep remembering, its sunday here and there. They're not doll making robots who don't need sleep or a day off. Would be amusing, but i bet that'd cause a whole slew of issues XD; I'm sure there are a few Soom workers freaking out right now, sitting at home looking at the site and wondering how many people are freaking out wondering if she's sold out for good. I bet by tonight they'll be in and it'll be fixed XD
