brrrr now I am getting worried again , I already asked Soom but I would hate it if I could only pay amber off in a total of 4 payments.... oh well I hope it isn't a hard rule or i might not be able to pay for all of her........

and indeed I was worried about the crouching and honestly more about sitting on a chair decently, but it seems amber is ment to stand because she will not be able to do a total crouch

 

I was thinking the same thing the other day, the '13th sign' in the zodiac, but it would've come out already. I completely agree with you in regard to the naga doll.

It's hard to say. Maybe the ran into too much confusion on their side, or implemented a new accounting software? I'd ask on the Q&A, because flexibility in making regular payments has helped a lot of people get their Soom dolls up until now.

I'm gonna be ordering my Amber next week and I was just wondering if it's worth it to get the seams sanded? She will be my first soom doll so I'm not sure how bad the seams are?

badluck tenshi, They don't bug me that much on my sard and beryl, but I can't aptly describe how they look/feel exactly at the moment since they're being babysat while I'm at college I'm getting it for amber and heliot thou because I want to spoil them. As a note, I do believe it costs 120 instead of the traditional 80 for her since she has so many extra parts (two sets of legs, two sets of arms, two sets of lower torso )

 

I'm confused. Soom says that seam removal is not included in the bodypainting option. Is there a way to choose seam removal as an option?

 

Yes, in the left menu choose "face up" and then click on "removing seam and sanding" and choose the super gem size then. It says that it is 80 USD, but for the MDs it's actually 120 USD.

 

I went with the seam sanding because I don't care for seams and usually sand them myself. But I wanted the Soom blushing on the faun parts so I decided to pay for them to sand the seams.

A lot of people don't mind seams. I don't like them but it's all a personal preference.

 

I don't mind the seems on my Spinel in the least, I will admit it was strange seeing them when I first got him since my Delf body had been sanded down by his previous owner so I wasn't used to them. XD But they don't bother me, personally...I don't think it's worth spending money to have done, but like Patrice said, it's all personal preference really.

I just keep going back to look at her page and try to work out what kind of character she'll have for me...

I think if her seams are really noticeable I'll sand them myself when she arrives. I'll be doing all her blushing anyway so it won't bother me. (And probably trying to sell off her human parts, since I can't imagine having her as anything but a faun...)

 

hmmmm, seems I might just sand her myself sometime after she arrives then. $120 did seem a bit much and since I'm not getting the body blushing I don't think it'll matter much. Thanks for the input guys. ^_^

 

just wanted everyone to know that Amber's lower legs will NOT fit other Super Gems legs, I asked Soom and here is their reply:

Unfortenately, they will not fit on the other Super Gem Dolls.
The Fauna Legs for Amber, it need a Fauna waist part for fit in.
It can\'t be fit on with her upper leg and waist parts.

I was going in on a split GO for the legs/hooves..not now..

 

hmmm I wonder if they found out about peoples splits XD

 

You'd just ned to do a split for her whole waist part instead of just the legs. That's not too big a deal I guess.

 

Looks like the upper legs are different from the upper legs of the supergem normal body, and that they connect at the pelvis infront instead of below. So yeah you may need the waist and legs to get it to all work. But people here are good at modding to make things work all the time.

I am SO glad I found a split for the tail after I split my tail. And... wow that sounds funny. Yet to doll people it makes total sense.

Honestly, for me this doesnt change anything. ...well. Other than the fact that i'll end up with extra theighs, prolly. I was intending to use the hooves in a hybrid (which is still undecided as of yet. So yes. i'm just getting LEGS out of this deal, apparetnly. hooved ones. That'll freak some people out XD)


I'm quite amused, really. Essentially if someone buys (and doesnt split) Amber, they're getting 1.5 dolls. Cause that means the only things she doesnt have two of are heads, chests, and upper arms, yes? XD

My guess is that they go forward a little more. I can kinda se ehow they'd sit differently than the normal thieghs do. Normal theighs go straight down when standing straight, and the fauna ones seem to go forward a little, and the hooves and such even it out below. I'm intrigued ^^

My guess is that the front of the pelvis piece wil have to be more open up top, and the butt/back part will have to end a little further out, if that makes any sense. So there'll liekly be additive and subtractive moddifying necessary.

We'll see though, and i'm actually pretty giddy about all of this info, cause it means i get to have more fun trying to figure out the physics of how my girl will be standing and how the different jointing systems will be working together XD


I kinda wish Soom would put up (nude) pics of the normal super gem body compared with the completely Fauna body, so we can see the difference. Her skirthing kinda seems to hide anything, which is likely where all the confusion came from in the first place.

 

Yeah...hm..I wonder what the body looks like when taken apart. Like that specific area. I wonder if Soom could give us pictures. >_<

Well, on the plus side, for all those who got stuck with hooves and without a torso part, there still seem to be a number of splits open with it still available. ^^;

I think the tail might be like Vesuvia's Waist/Tail... which isnt magnet... but thats what I think...

Hm...hopefully they give pictures, I'm curious to see what it looks like without the clothes. Though I want to say the waist itself will look normal, save for the larger leg openings for the hooved-legs? Owo and...just with a magnet inside? XD I have no idea.

 

So does anyone know how the layaway works yet? Is it 25% extra you pay, or just 25% of your total in the first payment?

Amber is Creamy White and the size of eyes she takes is 14mm according Soom.

 

then it makes sense, why there are two different waists! I hope soom puts pics, but I believe the hooved legs may be thicker in the upper part and maybe settled in a different position... if they are thicker, then there are more possibilities of the hooves fitting in a boy waist part...

You know, I didn't even think of that. *also ponders* I really wanted the waist+tail part as well though, but I guess now that I think of it, it couldn't be THAT hard to make my own tail out of apoxy or something and find a way to attach it rather then going through the trouble of finding a boy body the waist would fit on, or sanding the breasts off the Super Gem body.

This is the first time I've ever seriously followed a Monthly doll (I sorta followed Heliot but not too much since I wasn't buying him) but are they normally as... I don't know, "not with it"? It just seems odd. The speculation about the magnetic tail I assume is just normal but not letting people know about the hooves not working with the waist is kind of a big deal, and then of course there's changing the layaway format after ordering has already started.

Same here, which is amusing. Because I kept pretty close tabs on Heliot but I rarely posted in the discussion threads for him. I'm not even getting Amber and I've already spent more time talking about her than I did with Heliot! I almost regret getting him and not her, but what can you do ey?

I tell ya, if you're willing to sell stuff online that's the way to go. I've inspired some of my friends to do the same. My spare room right now is FULL of things I've pulled from boxes and whatnot, things I've collected over the years but haven't done anything with. I've made $200 towards Amber so far and I still have another box full of stuff to list.

 

yeah selling things gives you two things, moar money, and you get things that are just taking up space and collecting dust out of the house 8D

 

I like the idea that they've done something different with the waist/hooves parts since it will make her unique from the other hoofed monthlies.

 

So do I. It shows how Soom really tries to do something new with each of their montly dolls and not just copies a popular feature of one of the other montly dolls. Their creativity and inventiveness is simply great.

And comparing the length of Beryl's legs and hooves, with Amber, they look very long. Amber's legs and hooves seems to be a bit shorter, which I think gives her a more realistic and proportional look. Beryl's legs with hooves with their 4 cm extra are a just little bit too long.

 

Just like Heliot got the longer legs.

I like how Amber's hooves are different from Beryl's too. While they still show a split, they look less claw like. Bery's hooves suited Soom's conception of her character as an succubus just as Amber's hooves suit her being a faun.
