Soom Monthly Doll April (Aries) the Third Land: Beryl - Never Ending Dream

Apr 11, 2008

    1. despite the evil postman i got my girl! pics!

    2. I'm still curious about whether 12mm eyes look good in her - anyone tried them?

    3. I bet they would work, the 14 are still fairly big, but you may want to try for paperweight so you know the white will fill the space.

    4. My Beryl come today.

I have so problem - paint is already chipping. Is not used Mr.Super clear.
      I am write Soom.
      Respond me:
"Thanks for letting us about it. We are so happy to hear about it. And regarding your inquiry, we are sorry that the paint attrition is unavoidable. But you can repair the brushing yourself. we used the Mr.color 138 (clear green) + Mr.color 50 (clear blue) for Dark green. we used the Mr.color 7 (brown) + mr.color 5 (blue) for brown. And the last, we used the powder like gold. If you want to repair, you can use it as above."

Is going use Mr. Super Clear UV Cut?

      :?

    5. Oh, it's at least helpful to know their exact colors. You can use UV cut if you want. I have recently sealed over metallic powder and it still sparkled.

    6. That's disappointing to hear that paint chipping is still a problem. I would have thought that if there was some padding between some of the joints and around the legs to keep her safe during shipping, that would help protect from lots of chips... Oh, well...

    7. They do ship with padding between the legs, and most of the extremities are well wrapped, the problem is realistically not going to be resolved short of just not using the doll.

Let me be clear about this, shipping is not the problem, the doll is the problem.

Beryls (and it's safe to assume Sards) are blushed at at least 2-3 joints on each leg that move and rub against each-other regardless of how little or how carefully you use them. They're constantly in contact, it's just that simple, it's the price you pay for having painted legs that are so complex.
On top of that, the legs make contact with each-other unless you keep them constantly separated, and this causes further rubbing on blushed points.

Anyway, you can coat them over and over again and hope that it's enough to form a barrier between the blushing, but past that you I think you'll simply have to accept that fact that your blushing is going to chip off and deal with it, patch it up, or ignore it.

    8. I was thinking more of padding around the actual joints so that jolting/movement that happens during the shipping wouldn't contribute to the wear at the joints before the customer actually HAS the doll.

I do understand about wear at the joints, though. And thanks for the clarification.

    9. with the way postal workers treat packages during the loading and unloading process...it's unrealistic to expect such heavily coated pieces not to chip, or at least have some sort of wear.

short of sending those parts wrapped separately, with the doll strung with the normal legs instead.

perhaps that might be a way to protect the blushing job? if those parts aren't even articulating to begin with, the wear would be cut down dramatically.

    10. Mine came this morning and she had a piece of thick foam between each of her leg joints even though I didn't have her painted:)

    11. Really? Well, I hope that's being done for the painted ones as well... Shipping is rough. I think getting the doll into the hands of the owners with as little wear as possible would be a good thing... even if it's only some foam between the joints! (I hope it works, anyway!)

    12. Edited: never mind! I got it :XD:.

    13. Just a hint to rubbing parts on the legs...I used Pliver and sueded the leg joint above the hoof part and there is no rubbing of the paint now..even though mine has mohair covering it, there hasn't been any removal of the paint:)

    14. if you can post a photo. i am thinking of doing this but never have done it before and i dont want it to look like a mess.

    15. here you go:

    16. hmmmm looks like I'll have to do my first doll modifications on my beryl after all, I'd like to protect the default blushing because I really do love the colors...

    17. I second pliver in the "ankles" :D. I made double-sided disks for mine and slid them in like KiPS.

    18. what are KiPS? what type of glue do you guys use?

    19. I am so sorry that you have had this problem. I do hope that it will be fixed and that you will love your doll!

    20. KiPS are the silicone disks Volks uses. There's a FAQ around here somewhere.

      I am so sorry for the people who got the crappy blushing. I almost feel like I cheated getting mine done elsewhere. ;_;

    21. pfft, be glad! :aheartbea

my Beryl WILL be ~prettey~ and non-yellow eventually.. and if i'll have to scrub off the glitter paint myself. :|

    22. for those of you who got body blushing did you suede her? did you take her apart to suede her? i hope not taking her apart makes me want to barf! what type of glue did you use for the magnets? also did you guys glue the magnets inside the head or on top?

    23. Oh, dear. Do you know if the yellow is just over-done on your doll--or are they switching to yellow instead of the browns to save from chipping? That doesn't seem right...

    24. Maybe its just me, but the blushing on the site always looked yellow to me. :S

    25. That's what I thought, it all looks yellow to me in her website pictures. I think that its to match the tone of the legs and wings. It looks a bit harsh in those pictures maybe, but it could be a matter of lighting difference or the fact that the soom pictures are shopped into backgrounds & effects, etc. But hey, I could be totally off my rocker.

    26. it's true, the blushing on the site is a bit on the yellow/orange side but my doll is like... acid yellow. like that glowstick:

sorry, but that can't be right. how am i ever gonna do a face-up that matches that?! :doh

    27. I also got a Beryl with a lighter different blushing and it really is that color of yellow, especially on the body. It can't be the same color as in the promopictures.

I'm still not sure what to do. I like the lighter coloring, just the yellow is too much. I really would have wanted if I got er with a more orange/yellow blushing as is promised in the pictures.

    28. My Beryl is yellow/green all over too. Her nails do not have any gloss on them at all- just yellowy green paint.
I figure that I will redo them instead rather than sending her back/complaining. I do not really want to have to wait all over again for her. i really do love her a lot- it's just the yellow/green blushing looks quite ridiculous.

    29. i bought Beryl because i thought she was stunning but also because she has that option of looking like an "ordinary" girl if you swap her legs- now, with that yellow blushing, she'll look like a freak no matter whether she has the devil legs or not, that is what is bothering me a lot.
well, and also the fact that for the money that i've paid for the factory blushing, i could have gotten a better and more customized blushing from someone else.

    30. Ok, help!! ^^

How on earth do you get to the hooks in her hooves to remove her stringing?? I am in the process of unstringing her to MSC and suede her and I have no clue how to get to the hooks? *_* There's got to be a way since you should be able to switch her out to her normal legs... I'm I blind? :sweat

I apologize greatly if this was mentioned already (I looked for an answer, but it's hard to search through 47 pages, and search didn't bring anything up for me ^^)

      Thanks!

    31. Here's how I got them off to have her feet blushed. Pull her legs apart at the knee as far as you can and clamp at the end of the thigh with a pair of forceps. Then just slide the other parts back along the elastic and the hook will become exposed, or you can pull it out of the hole with a pair of needle nose jewelry pliers.

    32. Echo: You either pull them out with a pair of very thin pliers or you unstring her completely from her head down, which is a royal pain. I used a pair of very long nose pliers, a jeweler's tool, pulled the hooks out and removed them that way. Hope this helps. :)

    33. I string and unstring my dolls using a nylon D-string from a guitar. You can hook it on the S-hooks and yank. Works pretty well! You can also "thread" her lower legs back on.

    34. Thanks everyone! The hooks were stuck in the hooves really well, so I didn't think they were meant to come out that way. My girl is also really tightly strung, which doesn't help any (odd since it seems everyone else's Beryl's were loosely strung). But with a good tug with some pliers, I was finally able to get them out. ^_~ Thanks again for the help! :3

    35. Well, I finally got my Beryl! I'm glad I ordered her blank. I liked the blushing in the promo pics, but it seems to be that they're blushing her with more yellow tones now. Hopefully I'll finish her face up & blushing this weekend.

    36. are you gonna post pictures of your girl when you're done? i'd love to see them! :)

    37. If the new blushing style is not making people happy, I think it's best to at the very least let Soom know about it, even if you aren't sending your doll back. Without feedback, they won't know that people are not happy.

I hope those who are very unhappy with it get some sort of satisfaction out of Soom. If they have changed the blushing style from the pictures... it's not exactly fair, since that's what you purchased. Good luck!

    38. That yellow is atrocious!! I'm so so glad we ordered ours blank! Either way,me and my sister,Davinerurinvega recieved our girl...Tuesday?Pretty sure it was Tuesday. We were so certain that she had been shipped back to Korea on Monday because our tracking said that no such address existed...in Miami.I'm about a three hour drive from Miami O_o She arrived quite unexpectedly the next day AFTER I had ripped USPS a new one and gone crying to Soom. She's gorgeous, huge, fits into nothing I own and already owns the place.

And here's the lovely Miss Siren herself! I'm going to paint her succubus legs tomorrow hopefully.

    39. ohh, she is fierce! congrats!!! <33

    40. aoyuki_kitsune: She's gorgeous!

    41. That is a stunning girl! I'm glad she got to you ok!

    42. aoyuki_kitsune - Your Beryl is awesome! I love her faceup. Congrats on getting your girl.

    43. Oh my, she is amazing!!
I was literally stunned when i saw the pics of her. I think the legs are Incredible, i am thinking of getting them for my soon Dillui if they fit.

      Very Talented people....

    44. Of course I'll post pictures :) She's not done yet, actually she's going to be the first face up/ blushing I do myself. Pretty ambitious! So I'm just a tad nervous :sweat. But my very talented best friend is going to help me. It's the eyes and eye brows that terrify me, I'm OK on the body blushing & lips. But even blank, my Baalmora is running the house. All of my other dolls give her much respect. If they don't, she's threatened to stomp on them with her massive hooves!

    45. Anyone know what size wigs Beryl needs?

    46. Her head is on the smallish size, almost like an Elfdoll. I'd say 8 inches around.

    47. Ok, thank you. ^^

    48. I would have done anything to get Beryl... Sadly I found out about the existance of SOOM too late (I had not discovered BJD until recently) and the Monthly Doll was already Bix :( If anyone EVER wants to sell their Beryl, I will be very *very* happy to buy her...

    49. shelly667>> perhaps by the time you get your post count up to access the marketplace, there might be a beryl or two up for consideration? :3

      good luck!!

    50. I
I know exactly how you feel Shelly667 as I too found out about the Beryl too late, BUT there is hope and have seen a few going on this forum site, so keep a look out. I just managed to get one last week and she is due home today, hopefully in the next hour or so...they are out there, so will keep my fingers crossed for you that you get one of these beautiful dolls too!:)

    51. Thanks for your quick and sweet replies! My post count up? How many posts do I need to access the marketplace? I didn't know that... I will keep my fingers crosses!

    52. 40! You've got 31 to go...get chatting!!

    53. Thanks!

LOL, I'm trying, I'm trying

    54. Well, it looks like I might be receiving one of the last Beryls to ship... I paid my girl off earlier this month, but she's still on "Before Shipping". >_<

Shelly - you may want to get cracking on that post count... I saw a Beryl up for sale just a day or so ago. A good way to up your post count is to view the galleries and comment on the photos you like. ^_^ Good luck!

    55. There's yet another one up there, but its not just her post count she needs up, she also has to be a member for what, 30 days or something like that?

Either way, I have AWESOME news, my girl is now on her way home to me!!!! ^_^ SO. EXCITED.

    56. Congrats FallenEverdark!! I can't wait to see pics ... I see her name is Aquamarine; will her hooves and horns be this color? That would be sooo gorgeous and different^^

I have my own Beryl on the way in about a week. Her name is Shiva and her color theme is red/black. I am currently having a wig made for her and red eyes on the way... I hope they are both here for her soon. Though, I doubt it.

    57. Mine is now completely paid off. Now I just have to wait for shipping.

I'm both excited and yet dreading her arrival. :(

    58. Hi!

Does anyone have a link to a resin comparison thread, or can give me directions of where best to look:sweat

I have a Beryl, and a blank head on the way, but am looking for a 60cm girls body that would match, I think with the smaller head style it should still work on a slightly smaller body (and hopefully less expensive and easier to find clothes for) but I'm not sure where to start looking. I think I saw on this thread about Luts...? Any help much appreciated!:)

Aquamarine has finally made it home. I barely had time to get her dressed and brought her in to work so I could enjoy her. She arrived REALLY floppy and w/ human legs, so I'll attempt to remedy that tonight before we leave for our vacation. But she is gorgeous. I got the default face up, and I love it. I love her. :) I will try to get the box opening & such up later tonight, all w/ my crappy phone camera, sorry, lol.
