SOOM Mega-Gem General Discussion

Not the Senior Iple, but the Elder Iple (EID) clothes sized for the EID model body should work on mega gem dolls. By extension, any vendor that sells EID model size clothes. Freedom Teller for example. Also some stretchy tops for Dollmore Glamour model.

 

I have a bunch of SID clothes and jeans for my monzo and they fit nicely. I have some model items that are fine too and some that are too long in the sleeves, but it really depends garment to garment.

 

SID fits. I heard EID is too big. I'll have to test with my Shoshon and Ender for the knee thing.

 

Hey can anyone tell me what size shoes these guys wear? Will SID or SD17 boots work??

@april:My Monzo actually stands like a rock! I can even get him to stand on one leg VERY easily, even with his wings on.

However, my Ender (not actually mine, I was a split host) I got in a split is strung really funny, methinks. He seems a lot more floppy than my Monzo. :/

 

I'm looking for more options for clothing for mega gems. Has anybody come across anything else that fits, apart from SID/EID clothes? Those aren't really fantasy style enough for my purposes...

 

Can anyone tell me if it might be feasible to squeeze a mega gem into a Leeke/Dollga 8-9 inch wig? I'm afraid going a step up to the 9.5-10.5 size is going to be too big for Phonolus...

 

8-9 should fit! I have a Leeke wig on my Ender and it fits him.

I was thinking Mega Gem and Idealian 72 were the same size, but apparently I'm mistaken. The EID and ID72 clothes are interchangable. Nice to hear there are some more options for SID though.

Edit: Double-checked Soom's site in the Biweekly clothing section. Mega gem clothes are advertised to fit ID72 which in turn fits Iple Elders (EID). But I see how the SID clothes with the bigger chest and shoulder would work on MG dolls. Not confusing in the least, Soom.

 

what size neck does the mega gem have?
I cant find the info even on soom...yes im really dumb ..blind..its probably right in front of me.

I can confirm that the Iplehouse SID clothes fit Soom Mega-Gems, and that the EID stuff is just too darn big for our Mega friends. Outfits from when I had my IH Tedros simply swam on Shoshon, whereas Aubrey (my IH Claude) and Shoshon can share anything they wear. They take turns wearing the SID_Man Le Roi Danse outfit. Yummy!

 

Yes, the SID clothes fit like they were made for the MegaGem guys. Here is my Monzo wearing some SID clothing from Freedom Teller.

 

Oooooh, what a hottie!! He's gorgeous - yum. I really want to get my boys something from FT, b/c it looks like the quality is simply excellent. (And I love a guy in a suit. lol)

 

The FT clothing really is beautifully tailored. I have a couple of their suits in EID size and they are gorgeous! I need to get one for my Monzo in SID size...............I did order a tux for him in SID size, so I will post some pics of it on him when it arrives.

 

Yeah,all the clothing I have for my two, Shoshon and Ender (Lucas and Rowan), are SID. Wish there was more clothing out there....I still need to purchase more for them!

Flint, the human version is wearing an Iple SID button-down shirt, and Slate, the gargoyle (currently as a human) is wearing a DollMore Model man shirt.

 

What a quiet thread! I am bumping this up. Anyone here jumping on the free choice event? after looking into the Idealian and MG bodies, I think I'll go for the MG. It is a bonus that he can wear SID clothes! Though I'd be getting Hyperon on it.

I'd love to see more spam of these MG guys!

I should probably post here rather than the ID thread since I'm planning on getting a Monzo head rather than an ID. I'm really excited and hope this happens because I am also broke. Darn soom and their gorgeous sculpts!

Since there are so many monzos on the page, what size eyes do you guys use?

 

I have 14mm eyes in my guy.

I'm definitely in for a Bronze Phonolus! I saw him at NYCC and was sad that I could not get him (I was lucky to grab his wings, eyes, and wig in a split though! The tawny color is really nice, but I don't know if I want to take the risk of just hoping on the end of year Lottery.

A shot of my Monzo (who I call Blay) wearing the Freedom Teller SID tux. The fit is a little tight across the chest on the shirt, but I did get it buttoned, and once I did, it looks fine I think. Pants are a tad short, but doable. I love the Monzo sculpt so much. I just wish the MegaGem body posed as well as the Idealian body. Trying to keep the MG body balanced over the hips drives me bonkers!!

I wanted to ask about shoes -- if anybody knows what brands will fit.

And I also wanted to ask about any known posing issues that perhaps others are experiencing? I was fiddling with my human Phonolus yesterday (whom I'm just now getting to start working on) and noticed that I can't for the life of me get him to stand. I'm hoping this could be fixed with re-stringing. . . but I worry it may be because of joint shapes in the hip + buttocks shape. His knees look fine, not hyper extended. His stringing doesn't seem overly loose but he tends to immediately bend forward at the hip when I try to stand him up. Any help/ other people's experiences are appreciated greatly.

 

here is to hope and wait and in the meantime drool over,and, for a tawny or bronze human phonolus... -_-

Are you talking about shoes for MegaGem or Idealian? I use the SID shoes from Freedom Teller on my Monzo and they work great. For the Idealians, they use my Iple EID shoes, which fit fine.

Can you guys help me with something? I need a Monzo owner with the beast legs to measure the round ball of the thigh top, please, in cm and mm.

 

The thighs are the same for beast and human. 17.6cm around the widest part of the "ball".

I'm really not sure where to post this but here goes:I have a Soom Mega Gem Monzo that I just got and he's my first doll. I had to string him and I'm having trouble getting him to stand.

 

I had to restring my Shoshon. I did not string him as he came strung. I restrung him as I would any other doll. One loop per leg. The reason I had to as when I was playing around with him, I pulled a piece apart, and his string was nearly cut in two! And he was brand new, so it was his first day home when he got restrung.

Have you tried that?

 

I have found he's a little easier to stand in beast form, rather than human. Play with his torso a bit to redistribute his weight. That helps too.

 

Thanks! I can get him to stand by shifting his weight be he doesn't seem very secure. I reas that sueding his joints can help so I'm going to try that.
This is Kell modeling boxers I made for him. They're my first effort so I hope to get a lot better at the sewing. Also the pics is blurry and I haven't yet figure that out. I think I suck at photography.

Hey chrstphrl, I am having the same issue as you. I have a human Phonolus (no beastie parts over here) and I am pretty sad that he is so much harder than any other doll I have to get standing securely. With mine I am hoping that sueding the hip joints might help? He always buckles forward at the hip and falls over when I try to stand him up. I hope you will share if you find anything that helps you improve your boy's standing (and I will do the same)!

 

Glad I'm not the only one ALisonVondrland. I'm going to try sueding his joints & hope that takes care of it. He's such a big boy that I fear his weight may be the issue. If I discover anything else I'll definitely share.

I have plenty of dolls over here -- and some of them have issues standing, but that is mostly a restringing issue. I have 70cm dolls from other companies who are also very heavy -- overall weight should not be the problem with these Mega Gems. I think they may be so tricky because they carry a fair amount of weight in their chests and upper torso -- together with a hip joint that doesn't seem to lock very well when standing this is what I believe is giving me such a challenge standing my guy up. I hope we both figure this out!

 

Hi! I'm getting my first Mega Gem, a Monzo. Can I get advice on wig size for him? Everyone says iplehouse Sid for clothes but are their wigs good too in 9/10? Generally is 9/10 good or should I look for something like large 8/9's?

 

I'm using an 8-9 wig and it is a very good fit. Congrats on your Monzo! I'd love to see him when he comes

 

Yes right now his head is off getting a face-up from Angel Toast. As soon as he comes back I'll be sure to post him.

 

I hot glue sueded and tightened my boy's stringing and he stands much better.
