Soom [MD/Dec]: Afi&Ai - Winnie Dee

Oh my goodness, guys this is sort of awful D: I've never EVER been attracted to one of Soom's dolls save with a passing, "Oh wow, she's awfully pretty," or a vague plan to maybe embody a character, possibly, in one of their non-monthly sculpts.

But DANG Afi has got me BAD. This is going to sound really crazy and quite stupid, but I actually feel rather anxious, knowing that I very likely will not be able to purchase him (yup. I suppose I'm officially a doll nut. Oh well). I'm just waiting for my mom to get home so I can annoy her about blowing $400 on something useless. Maybe I can finally convince her to let me get a job though!

Well anway, they put panties on the poor little guy's head, how could I possibly resist???

And as a quick question--would it cost more to get him straight from the company and pay ridiculous shipping and customs, or buy him secondhand? I know that many of Soom's older dolls have significantly appreciated in value, but considerng how many people will likely buy this guy, what do you suspect? THANKS!!

 

Thanks! I might not wait, though, just 'cause I want the little bugger so badly. ^.^ And I can always sell him if he's not quite perfect, and and... ugh. Rationalizing the totally irrational--I AM meant to work with words. XD

 

I dont think I would wait to buy him in all honesty, muse. Your location says US so you dont have to pay customs fees on him, just the high shipping cost. What I noticed with the bygg and beyla sales was that bygg was more expensive and I think he sold less, so his aftermarket prices were alot higher than beylas (especially for his body!) which I suspect will be the same thing for afi. Less of them around means people will pay more to get him, plus he was expensive from the get-go so I think it would be better to splurge now and put him on a layaway or something

 

Ooh, you do have an excellent point there. Hadn't thought of that. D: Plus I've got the math all worked out, and if the layaway plan works like I think it does it wouldn't be TOO much of a strain on family finances if I don't get any painting done and throw in $100 at the get-go.

Okay, I've officially been Soom'd... I missed out on Glot and hesitated too long on Beyla, so this time I'm making sure I get a little hooved darling lol~

 

muse: to keep the price down, you do not have to get him with "extras". you can contemplate getting the 'bare bones' Afi and save quite a bit over the fullset. i would not wait to get him 'secondhand'.

 

Honestly, Muse? I don't know how likely you would be to get a tan tiny in the aftermarket. You may want to have that talk with your mom.

 

Soom is evil for making such cute dollies. anyone know what a good wig company for curls is? im in dire need to know for i havent ordered anything else yet.

 

Yes, Soom is evil I have Ai on order and something in me is begging for Afi too... but I am so broke it isn't even funny. And yet, I laugh and cannot wait for my little Ai to come home.

I'm trying desperately to get in on a split since it's less expensive (initially, if not overall, once extra bits are sold), but finding a body is going to be nearly impossible. v.v I was planning on getting him without any extras at all and totally blank, but it's still a bit of a stretch. The annoying thing is that I CAN afford a layaway, but my mother was extremely upset that I'd even think to spend 'her' money on something so stupid. Lady has a point, of course, but if my budget can take it I may well defy her. >.< We'll see.

Err, the layaway would be for about $141 for each installment, right? Just the total, plus shipping, divided by three?

 

Okay, I have a dumb question here:

I ordered my Ai with body blushing but didn't pay for sanding... is that a totally stupid idea??? I don't mind slight seams, so I figured I'd be alright but now I'm questioning myself... *sigh*

 

I did it too, but I plan to touch up the seam sanding areas with my own spray job xP

That's one of the reasons I ordered my Ai blank. Not only do I want to do my own faceups on the heads and have certain brown tones on the deer legs but this way I can get rid of any seams that may stick out too much. Small ones don't bother me but who knows. It also helps me bond with the doll.

QUESTION!

Has anyone had to change their delivery address with SOOM before via the Q&A?
If so did they keep the address the way it was on the order status page or do they change it? I know some companies can't change the main order page and they make notes on a page others can't see but I wanted to check.

 

Hautedoll has Soom in their new issue. I subscribe, so nonsubscribers will have to wait.

 

I think I'm going to see if I can switch from body blushing to just doing sanding instead... WAHH I'm just so excited~ I hope I can pay off my layaway quickly...

I did! I ordered my soom cass before they changed their weblayout, and also changed my address before they changed the whole stuff. I changed it both in my user information and also left a Q&A message for the soom cass order.

When she was shipped, I got an automatic email that she was shipped to my old address. So I asked soom about it, and they told me that the doll was sent to my new address.
The reason why my old address was at the shipping mail, was because at your order info page, the old address will not be changed there.

At the end she was indeed sent to my new address.

 

Just ordered...yay!!

Gah! I have been waiting for this one to come out, but my computer has been down and I JUST found out about these two last night. I have no way at the moment to get my Ai.

I guess I will have to stalk the marketplace once they arrive... perhaps I can be lucky enough to snag one up there. ::crosses fingers, toes, arms, legs, and eyes::

You can find yo undies everywhere! xD Dollmore sells them pretty cheap, but most sites sell them cheap, no more than 5$ x3

magicbunny: i totally got one of these . how could you forget that i am getting little Weeener? she will have the R.head with the ears and non-standard hooves. the face up artist and i have pretty much figured out her coloring. we are excited over her eyes. O_O.

Hi, I just got my Afi about 2 weeks ago and he's my first hooves doll. May I ask how do you fit the hooves on?

 

Here is the best way I figured out to swap them out.
Pull on the human foot and stick some ribbon in the elastic loop, leaving a good eight inches on each side. Unhook the human foot, keeping the elastic looped around your ribbon. Keeping hold of the ribbon so the elastic does not go into the torso, slide off the calf and thigh pieces. Thread the ribbon and elastic back through the hoof leg pieces and the hoof part. Put the s-hook around the elastic last and let it sit in the outside of the hoof hole.

Hi guys, I have a question about these little sweethearts~~

I'm very interested in Afi, but the bodies I have are CW Soom bodies--I don't have a tan one. Do you think it would be at all plausible to blush or paint the body to match the head?

I have pulled off tanning dye jobs in the past, but I'd like it to not be a permanent thing--paint and blush can be removed later. One of my CW bodies, though, has been fully blushed orange in the past, so I wouldn't mind messing with it again if need be.

I guess I just wondered if anyone thought this would be remotely possible to do. X3 I hope it's okay to ask that in here!

 

I am not sure if it could be done or not ... especially if you are wanting something that can be taken off without risking the CW resin. It may be possible, just be sure to coat the heck out of the doll before you try.

Alternatively I know some people have been getting custom colored bodies from Angell-studio for their odd colored Soom tinies by ordering a body and custom skintone. You could send in a headcap and get a matching body. However I am not sure how well the body would work with the hooves legs.

 

Thanks for the info--that's pretty awesome about the Angell-studio bodies. I do have the CW body I mentioned already which was fully blushed orange, and it's never been exactly the same as it originally was, so I'm not against coloring it somehow again. Still, it's a tough choice, because I don't like the thought of messing up such an expensive body even more! >.<
