Soom [MD/Dec]: Afi&Ai - Winnie Dee

Aww ShadowChan , Aiko is a very pretty name for Ai. That name actually popped into my head when I first saw these cuties, but it didn't seem to match with my concept for Ai.

 

Well, looking at the pics Soom posted . . . I'm not seeing this "bump" of which they speak. Or maybe I am, I can't tell. It must be very subtle! Good thing they posted Afi too though, sheesh. Bright pics much? xD

And OMG their heads are even cuter blank. I like the deer head much better now - which really doesn't help me, as I had enough trouble resisting twins as is. That OE head has got to be the sweetest thing I've seen in ages, though.

 

Awesome I did love that name too, it sounds adorable. I'm glad my randomness could help.

Also, I hadn't considered Bambi as a name - it's so obvious, how could I not see it! Although I will probably name my Amber that, as I see it as a more adult name (probably because I used it on my application form to be an exotic dancer >_>)

Lol Gertrude XD That's awesome. I went with Bambi because I'd been watching too much scrubs, and I just wasn't taking the job app seriously at all (wonder why?) Although it was a decent place, very high end and nice, not like the dank pits you see a lot.
I wonder why strippers have really cliche names sometimes. I mean, get the cute and sweet ones, but apparently "Rachel" is a really typical stripper name. Who would choose that name if they could! (Close to my real name and I hate it >_>)

Shadowchan linked the soom pictures of the hermaphrodite body nekkid in the waiting room, so I finally saw the teeeeny lump that is there. I like it, it will be a soft entry into having male kids, I'm worried about my Alk at the moment, as mainly I prefer girl dolls.. (My Chrom hasn't given up trying to kill me in my sleep for that time I tested how well his face sculpt would work as a girl..)
I think my kids are going to be basically genderless or gender bent, seeing as they are hermaphrodites now to me officially, which is awesome because I can just dress them as I want now, bwahahaha. I'd planned for them to be one or the other, but this gives me a great excuse to just dress them crazy, with no psychiatric help needed for them later >_>

Wait, if I keep the waiting room interesting, who's going to entertain me >_> I'm expecting an all round effort! XD

Great to finally see pics of the hermaphrodite bodies! The little bump really doesn't bother me much and I'm glad I ordered my Ai. But I'm totally blown away by the hooves . I fear my girl will never walk on human feet .

 

Do 12mm eyes look better than the 14's? I think I'm too much of a sucker for big eyes..

 

I've already decided on the name for one of my Ais (though I haven't decided which one yet) - I'm going to go with Tarot. I came up with it while trying to pick a name for my latest Oblivion character, and immediately decided it was an Ai name instead.

I've finally received the Cass dress that I've decided I don't need. If I can sell it before the 10th, I'll be able to get a full Ai for myself, I think . If not, I'll still be able to get the heads at least.

 

Crappy news for everyone time.

I was in Soom today and apparently Afi and Ai are being sent out to Japan from Korea probably tomorrow.
Now while the postal system does continue to run through most of the new year, CUSTOMS DOESN'T.
Meaning, Afi and Ai are going to arrive in Japan but most likely get stuck in customs until they resume work again on the 4th (they will most likely be closed from the 30th to the 4th).

At this point, the earliest it's looking like I'm going to be able to get pictures is the 5th or even 6th. x___x

For those of you waiting on these photos in order to make a decision, I'm SO SORRY.
I too am a bit ARGH about this as I'm entirely counting on seeing them to make my decision, and as I intend to pay in full up front for one of them (if I get 2), obviously I want to order as soon as possible to get my order in there.

I can't see a thing! I mean there's clearly not a giant pickle there or anything, but I can't really tell if there's much of anything there?

I'm AMAZED at how detailed the hooves are though now seeing them blank.
It's kind of nice to see the dolls blank for a change too!!

Oh but I'm sad those are definitely 100% human ears on the OE head.. sigh.
Was really hoping they'd be pointy like Glot/Glati.

 

That's cause she's really awesome, plus to be honest, I think she's glad of someone to chat with every now and again, as well as customers who don't yell at her every 10secs for shipping dates xD

Back to the pictures.. it's funny how blank, WS Ai looks just about the same as Beyla and maybe even Glot too. True it's not a very close up picture and the white is really washed out, but looking at the heads blank really makes you realize how similar they actually are. Just a few little tweaks here and there, then different faceups!

 

There is definitely a SLIGHT bump.
I thought I could photoshop the picture to be sharper or something but nothing is really helping to show it up more than it already is.
It is SO slight a bump though I think!
Either way, I'm going to have to GET IN THERE WITH MY CAMERA AND INVESTIGATE! xD

I don't think the OE ears will be totally human. I still see some pointedness in the first pic of the Afi page... Although they don't seem to be as pointed as Alk/Yrie's or Glot/Glati's. Does every one of them tinies have different kind of ears btw?

In all honestly, I'm more likely to just pay off the heads in full, rather than buying the full doll. For once in my life, I don't want the fantasy parts despite them being gorgeous and perfectly sculpted

I'll definitely make sure that if I do decide to get a full Ai, that I let you know in plenty of time for you to plot otherwise, though. If worst comes to worst, I bet you could snare someone else into a split if you posted during the Japanese ordering period - there's always so much gnashing of teeth after MD periods end, from people who missed joining splits

 

One day at the end of all this, we are just going to have to make a big "thankyou" card for that lady, and send it all over the earth to get all our thankyou messages written on it XD

 

Hmmm... looking at the pics, I honestly can't see any sort of pickle. I just wish that Ai was a little more visible XD She is a little ball of light. But, one can assume that she looks just liks Afi, color aside.

All the names that are floating around for these little ones are just so sweet. I can't wait until we finally start seeing spam... that will be like... February or March right?

Gerkin, huh? It is a really cool sounding name. But when I heard it, the first thing I thought of was literally Gurka Knives (Khukuri), which tells you I hang around with boys too much. <rolls eyes> Strangely, I really adore the name Gerkin, which just sounds cool for a doll!

Either way, you're well on your way to getting these cuties. Oddly, Gerkin and Pickle are suitable for teenie weenie dolls. Though I'm sure, one day, Pickle with have a bone to pick with you.

Since I've had Skyza's input I'm still on J or G names for my Afi (with Jori on hold for in case nothing hits me at the last moment) -- should I choose him over Ai in the endless battle of the tinies! At least there'll be less to sweat about getting a body to the right gender for me this time around. I don't know that I would have bonded to my Beyla boy as well without it. (I totally love him, btw. He is uber-adorable.)

The pie-chart of my spending last year had a very large hunk labeled Soom, let me tell you... I SHOULD be able to do this blindfolded!

I'm all for thank you letters or packages. I bet it would make the Soom staff really happy too. I mean, considering all they have to enjoy from us otherwise are our firstborn children and such. Imagine the bawling from that though!

 

Mortifox, not to be too graphic here, but look further down in the groin, further than you would >ahem< normally have to look. You'll see on the picture a slight shadow that frames the bump that, if you compare it to, say, a default Beyla body, just doesn't exist. We're talking subtle though. It shouldn't freak out the folks who want a girl, and it should give hope to people who want a boy. But you can see it. What we really need is a side-on shot. Midnite will clear this up, pretty sure!

But so far so good. I'll take a bump over nothing at all, to be honest.

Easy way to see the bump if yer on a laptop, tilt your screen backwards, you can see the itty bitty bump close to the end of the front crotch Tis what I did, you can really see it on the tan body, that I know. (too much contrast on the white body D; )

Honestly, I'd take the genderless body myself. (which is going to be a mission for me when I get my Alk :>)

 

I actually think if you ended up not needing me, I actually might try and convince myself not to get anything at all (as if I got fullset Ai I'd need to find some Afi items in a split, but if I went for Afi I'd need Ai items in a split.. if I went for both, I'd probably end up keeping everything!).

It's perhaps weird logic, but I was in the Volks store today after visiting Soom and I really fell for one of the full choice dolls they had on display. I've only ever loved one Volks doll before (limited and I may never get her unless I suddenly come into a lot of money) so this was a pretty big shock, and I suddenly wondered if I was going to have to try and find the money to save up for her.

ANYWAY... it was later on this evening when I suddenly realized, this is NEVER going to end. I keep saying, 'Oh I have enough dolls now, I feel complete with what I have, and it's time to start working on clothes and wigs and so on'.. but yet new dolls always come along and I end up bringing them home!
Yes I WANT Afi/Ai/both.. but I wonder if I some point I'm supposed to say no, and stop this vicious cycle!! xD

On a much more on topic note, I'm suddenly pondering a new hybrid of Yrie's head, Yrie's wings and Ai's body (all with default faceups/blushing) + Ai's outfit/wig/maybe eyes.
Then I'd get to use the wings I so desperately wanted AND get the cute little hooves and all the adorable pink.
That would also make the Yrie/Ai hybrid very different to Afi, who'd stay in tanned reindeer form!

If I went with this, my Yrie/Ai hybrid would be called Sorae (meaning blessing from the sky), which was originally going to be the name for my Bygg until she insisted her name was Nyx, and who was I to argue! xD
The question is.. what would my Afi be called I wonder.. I have this image of fire crossed with ice, a a character which reflects that, but a name...... hm..

Their mother, Amber, who was luckily not shot by hunters in a Disney movie, had to move to the big city and find a job to support her kids, seeing as their father was was too busy looking after his other kid, Bambi, after her/his (seriously, wtf gender is Bambi?) mother was gunned down by awful hunters who had never seen Disney movies as children, and therefore didn't know hunting was bad, and vegetarian diets are so much better for you anyway.

Unfortunately as Amber was totally unskilled, due to deer apparently not doing any form of schooling, she had to take a job as a stripper, after being turned down by Macdonalds for being too old (Seriously, if you are over 22 good luck finding a job due to pay scales being based on age) :O
Her children, Gerkin and Pickle (Pickle of course, being tanned like his father) got used to seeing pretty and naked women constantly, and hid their true male genders so much, they started growing 'innies'.

I think the hooves from this doll would actually look quite cute with the Yrie wings. Not sure how well the two different blushings would work though.. Were the yrie wings more brown in person, rather than the oddly yellow-green they look on the site?

I purchased Alk's wings in a split to go on a glot body & goat hooves originally, but now i've changed my mind and am going to put the deer head on the glati body (and the deer tail) and put the Alk wings on the Ai body & hooves (with a spare beyla tail) and not sure who's head yet... but s/he will be my pegasus doll (and the Ai head on glati body will be my deer). None of these dolls who's parts i'm swapping were ordered blushed, so it'll be easy to match the parts up.

I found a post in the amber database that shows EXACTLY (tho now i'll have to change mine a bit so as not to be a copycat) the faceup I was planning for my Ai. Will just have to find a faceup artist to do it (I have no confidence in my faceup abilities).

 

The hooves are indeed cloven.^^

12mm looks much better imo, 14mm tends to look alien since it fills up pretty much the entire eye. You can see here that the Soom 14mm silicone runs small in iris size so glass in 12mm is just fine. link

I have an awesome screen fortunately so I can help out here a bit.^^ The eye shape on the oe heads is just a slightly narrower version of Hati/Skolls. The face shape and nose are totally unique, they are nothing like any of the other tinies so far, the nose is much more delicate and less... umm pudgy... at the end lol, and the face shape is slimmer and rather diamond shaped (both bygg/beyla and glot/glati had very heavy lower faces, not these little ones). The mouth is unique as well, it's downturned like glot/glati but has a slight smile at the corners as well as full (and uniquely shaped) lips that ar very slightly parted (more subtle than bygg/beyla). Aside from alk/yrie and iv/eliv all the little ones have a very distinct family look for which you can kind of consider glot/glati the blueprint. Hope that helps^^
Being a makeup nerd comes in handy for breaking down facial features hehe.

See, Mortifox, I think it's going to be just fine. For folks like me, who are looking at a boy if I get Afi, and a girl if I get Ai (most likely), I think this will be a happy medium! Props to whomever was saying that we all start out female in the womb, btw, as that is both right and not something I thought I'd ever see brought up in DOA for some reason! That ranks up there with, didja know we all start out with gills?

I just rearranged my dolls on the doll table, btw, and they look a-maz-ing. The babies are all on the couch with me. <Waves> Hi babees! And I have two over on the pub table behind me (probably making out in their dolly way, as they are in loves). It's turning out to be a good night to sit and contemplate who would fit best in this family: Afi or Ai. I gotta admit... just a little bit tonight, Ai is winning out. I have no idea what it is about her. Maybe that she's so pristine she looks like milk. She reminds me of the twin Beylas over here, like she'd only need black hair to glide right into the fold.

But I can't seem to let go of Afi's cute tan self either. He'd stand out among my buttermilk babee dolls, and that would be so striking and new! He'd be the hyperactive and outgoing one, I bet!

The hooves are distinctly bisected. Now if you mean to say shod, I'd have to say unlikely... but I really don't know for sure! LOL! Could you imagine being able to get sparkly, or clear, or frosted resin horseshoes for these cuties? OMG!

I donno, Rianne, what a list would look like. I would worry about MSC for the tan as on greys, only the greys here are almost a year old and look fresh as daisies, to be honest. I just don't know about this little tan dolly in terms of wigs -- I like black wigs a lot -- and clothes -- ahem, I like black clothes a lot. I'm worried that what I'll end up with is a doll I can't put together satisfactorially in my head. But at the same time, I think Afi's so pretty, so adorable. It will be a coin toss, looks like.

Currently, all four of the baby dolls in the house are collected around the Conference pillow, debating this. There are hand gestures galore, but I have a horrible feeling the girls are going to want Ai, and the boys, Afi. That's 2:2. Babies. No help!

I'm not too worried about the MSC greying thing, hooray for airbrushes and repainting stuff.

I will definately be on the hybriding bandwagon, both my deer heads will be getting glot/glati hooves even if I have to paint the hooves for Afi, I am just not a fan of these one piece fawn hooves. Although my Ai will be a goat, and my Afi will be a fawn.
Also, I think I'm finally drawing near the end of my tiny obsession :O I think I'm happy with the amount I have.
Probably won't even keep my Alk :/ And my Beyla might go too. I'll just keep the Hati, Ai, Yrie, Afi, and get an Ante.
Although I might fall in love, and be broken down by tiny resin cuties >_<

Ahahahaha you guys DO need to get me off fullsets!
It may be working too! Right now my idea is :

Ai + sanding, blushing, outfit (minus both heads)
Afi + faceup on both heads, blushing, wig, eyes

Only a day or 2 ago I was assuming I'd be getting Ai's wig and eyes too, then I realized, 'will I really use the exact same style wig with minimal colour difference on 2 different dolls?' No. And I prefer the Afi wig.
The eyes too, while I know they're supposed to be white, just look light blue, and I somehow never end up using the blue eyes - Glot's defaults keep being passed around all my dolls and will probably end up back in their box eventually. So unless they're fabulous and sparkly in person like the Afi eyes seem to be, do I reaaaally need them? No! xD

Still, even with cutting out numerous options and parting with 2 of the heads, it's all still VERY expensive and there isn't much of a way around that (getting them without faceups/blushing/sanding isn't an option sadly, as I really don't like Soom dolls unsanded and I still consider them close to a fullset if they at least have all their faceups and blushing complete.. plus I love Soom's blushing and faceups so xD)

Well, guess I'll be waiting another week before I can find out if this is what I'm actually doing and get my orders in!

 

I wish I'd thought that with my Alk and Yrie <_< I think I got excited over my first doll purchase from a company >_> So now I gotta decide which, if either to keep.

Hahaha, the worst is when my heart goes hmmmm, for that is neither GIVE ME nor EWW GET IT AWAY. It translates to I STILL HAVE NO IDEA. xD

I think more and more I'm coming to terms with the fact that I do have a LOT of WS dolls.
In fact I have 9 WS dolls, then only 3 of other skin tones (purple, green and grey). Also in the future, I can see there being many more WS dolls I may end up wanting, whether they be Soom dolls or other company dolls.
Therefore, I think I've managed to turn myself off getting a fullset Ai completely. The only way I'll be getting her is to combine her and Yrie into ONE doll rather than keeping them both as 2 seperate, then getting rid of the parts I don't need in the future when I have them all sat in front of me and can make a decision.

The remaining question is simply, do I get Afi or not. We shall see! xD

Back onto eyes.. I totally love Afi's eyes as they look all sparkly, and I'm a SUCKER FOR SPARKLY (I so far have every single sparkly eye Soom has released this year, that's how obsessed I am xD)
Ai's eyes though don't seem sparkly at all, and if they are, they're clearly not fancy enough to show up in photography, and therefore what's the point? xD

Japan finally put up the order pages for Afi and Ai (not on sale yet though), but comically it says that they'll be on display from the 31st, even though the Soom store is closed 30th to 1st and I already know they haven't arrived there yet xD

 

Haha well, theoretically the -display- is there, it's just missing the focal point >_>
Actually, I'm kinda hoping to see the display itself, the Alk and Yrie thing seemed to be themed like the dolls, so this one might be too? I'm expecting a snow field looking thing.

I think I'm over soom eyes already >_> As much as I love Afi's pink eyes, I think I love ED acrylics more..

 

midnitestar7: you are just going to have to explain this to me: why buy fullsets if you like to do nude doll photography? nude dolls do not need clothes. think of all the money you would save . also: i have not seen a tiny, but, i think they are: tiny. therefore, whatever is between its legs (and truly i see *nothing* in the peeekture) is sooooo small, that it probably looks like a casting error or resin residue.

*bounce bounce* i am paid up for my r.head ai which will be named: Weeener. that is 'Weeener' with three 'E's'. she will get little hooves, but, not the ai hooves.

i think everyone needs these, so i hope all the fence sitters are running to get theirs. they are ever so cute.
