Soom June 2012 Body & Parts Sale

Does anyone know around how much these parts might cost? I can't remember if they did a sale like this before.

Specifically, I'm looking for SuperGem heel feet in white. ;D

 

so basically you can buy a Gem body in any type of color you want then order like hand parts for tinies? so basically it's a body part no heads on event.

 

i´m confused.... i can´t find pictures of their bodys or prices for them on the webiste

 

The order pages aren't up yet. I'm sure they'll have some photos ready when everything goes live.

 

I think we all expected something like this to happen soon since their body redesign!

I just wish Soom was more consistent with their resin color, I'd buy a new extra pose body for my Cuprit but I'm just assuming the resin color is going to be completely off.

 

Yeah, agreed, Anneke. If I bought a new-type grey body for my Euclase it'd probably be the new, more "blue" grey skin. Which would be a horrible match for Euclase. *Sigh*

 

My tactic is to wait until they re-release Cuprit in brown tan, like they just did with Beryl and just get a whole new doll for my Cuprit's character. Then I'll have THREE Cuprits all in different skintones. Mwhahahahaha.

I'm so excited! a grey SG girl body (without having to buy a whole Galena) is just what I need! Now, if it'll just not break the bankbook... I wonder if layaway will be allowed? And yeah, I'm assuming this is a body only, parts only, no heads attached deal.

 

I just need a new pair of hands for my Galena-she broke a finger. I asked a while back if I could get some and they never answered me, perhaps because they knew this was in the works.

Of course, she's on an old Beryl body and they aren't going to match worth a darn, but still...

Oh, I can buy ball-jointed hands for her! Win!

Agreed. I would love to buy the extra pose body with 'dem torpedos and jointed hands for my Amber, but I know the head would by far not match.

Even then, this event came up at a horrid time as I'm using all my money to move! Why couldn't you have waited a month? Oh yeah, it's Soom! /laughs

 

I hope they sell just optional hands and not 'pick what hands you want to go on a body.' I'd like to pick up some different hand poses for my little guys.

 

Deadlegato Theres a section for the bodies where you can pick the hands and theres a seperate part with just hands, so it looks to me like thats whats gonna happen!

 

Both the grey resin and the cream white resin have changed since 2008, right? I've been wanting jointed hands for my Onyx twins, but up until now could only get them for Light Onyx. But this would be a waste of $300 because these hands aren't going to match, are they?

 

@St. James~ I'm not sure if this will help, but yeah, the bby pink body I bought for my (bby pink) Lami head (during their last body event) was a horrible match, even though it was not so long after they released Trachy&Lami.

It was not only the colour - the type of resin used for the Lami head and then for the body were two completely different type of resins. Lami's was a litte bit like french resin, and the event body was more like the 'regular', solid type resin you meet more often.
My guess is that they use different resins for the MD's and then for their basic dolls and even parts. :/ (judging from the fact that my Shale is totally the same)

 

Hmm, perhaps I'll save myself the money then. It's not like the poor girls do anything but stand around looking pretty anyway! :/

 

on a second thought, i could buy jointed hands for my Onyx, i don't think the matching would be much of a problem since she is NS and fairly new.... Jointed hands are so cool

 

Bake_Neko: Actually, that is EXTREMELY helpful to hear, as I was considering picking up a second body for my extra Lami head. I'll just leave her on the Resinsoul she's on now. It's not a perfect resin match, but knowing that dropping a bunch of money on a soom body just to get another not perfect resin match helped me.

 

I'm not too worried about the resin match with my Lami, since I'm only getting extra hands. On the other hand, having seen some comparison pics between the free choice event bronze and the tawny resin, they look close enough that I'm almost tempted to get a new SG tawny body for my bronze Chalco instead of just a pair of jointed hands.

 

...actually, that is a point to consider. If the new grey resin won't match my older Galena talons, it may not be all that great an idea. =(

 

Very nice event! I'm going to pick up some human hands for my FC Topaz and perhaps a few extras.

 

I needed a body for my Ai doll free head... since now Ai doll is close to cream white... this is either a godsent or the devil's work.

I'm paying off my car this month... if this had been next month I would have had no issue buy all the hands and wings and ears and stuff....

I'm rather hoping the ears and wings will be ugly...

Anyone else hoping for just the long nail hands as a seperate item? (hint hint Soom) Been one of the things my GS Galena has been needing but never getting.

 

Hmm...someone mentioned that SOOM used French resin type for their basic & normal resin for the MD one page back...what is the difference?? I've never gotten any of the basic dolls.

I contemplated getting the light violet body for my migma, but then I remembered the body is not compatible with her fantasy feet & fantasy hands...so I would be stuck with two bodies and that just wouldn't make sense, even though Id love the poseability of the new body for her. I think I'll wait and see if they ever do a new girl in violet in the future & I'll just buy her & have migma steal her body once & awhile.

The grey was tempting too, but as someone mentioned earlier...not the same resin color as the original onyx batch so it would be pointless.

I hope they do another event like Christmas, when the dia head was available separate...that would be wonderful..or make dia a faceplate :-)

 

Same problem as everyone, inconsistency in the batches leads to no buying. I totally wanted jointed hands for my Soom Lupin, but he is from a batch with a more yellow tint, the hands would be too pinky for him.

Luckily I've got little ones from recent batches, so It isn't so bad, I just hope I can actually afford to get these hands.

Have they come out with female jointed hands before? I'd love to see how they look if anyone knows where I can see them

 

I have both Beyla hooves and two complete Lami... and while I'd say the Lami did have a somewhat translucent quality to them, the Beyla hooves were quite solid and certainly not french resin-y. And I've compared my house mates Glati hooves to several resin colors... they're also pretty solid.

So maybe it was just a Lami thing?

 

They sold the female jointed hands once last year. I've seen some crop up in the marketplace, but not too many actually on dolls. I think that for $140 per pair they didn't get a whole lot of attention since Dika Doll was already making something similar.

 

So do you think the Bronze would match my Afi head?? Cause I'd love to get him a body. I don't hate the body he has...but it's not great. I thought they had different tans at one point too, and there's really no point in buying one if it's as bad a match as the DK body.

 

I think bronze is a lighter tone than the Tan brown that the Afi's are(Or the other way around). But you could always blush to match? I plan on doing that with the hands I'm going to get my Afi twins.

I just hope the teenie gem hands aren't too expensive so i can nab all of them in bronze + a bronze Little Gem body for my Aphan.

 

Argh, tempted. I seriously doubt their current grey would match my floating Bygg head though...I may just have to deal with it since it's impossible finding a body secondhand T uT

&I'm pretty sure the majority of Soom's MDs were not a french-resin mix, or at least the older ones weren't. My Bygg and Chrom are as solid as the rest of my crew. My two bronze boys from the FC event looks solid as well, though their wrists are kind of thin. I did hear about Lami / Trachy and Sov having some translucency though, but it may just be some of their newer dolls that are like that???

French resin, also called environmental resin, looks more translucent and can have a glow to it in certain lights. It doesn't look as "solid" as the more commonly used resin. I haven't owned any myself, but I've read that it also rends to yellow faster.

Afi is brown tan if I remember correctly, so the bronze would be lighter than his head. There was someone who hybrided an Afi with one of Soom's other bronze tinies (Argil, I think??), but I don't remember their username, sorry.

I am lucky! I don't really have any need for Soom bodies..... All I ever want from them is centaurs, and since they aren't making centaur bodies available, I don't need to worry about it! :P

But I must say, I sure would like to get my hands on more bodies..... :P

 

Hmm... too bad they aren't offering the MegaGem body... I'd have to go for that, if they did...

And that's the really annoying thing about trying to match resins... even coming from the same company, with different resin batches... agh....

Well if i'm going to go to the trouble to match him with blush, I might as well just do it with the body he's got already...I guess that's good, it'll save me money! Though I do wish they'd have made the tan available.

I have so much want for a bronze male Dia, it's not even funny.

 

Holy crap! This is freaking fabulous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wish more companies would do this.

 

I have a basic SuperGem Ivory and a limited Migma head, both in NS and they are the same resin. Neither is french resin-esque, just normal resin.

The newer big dolls (i.e., SuperGems) aren't french resin either.

Brown tan is significantly darker than bronze. Bronze looks like a warm tan, while brown tan has more of a cool shading, like dark olive skin.

Edited to add: some of the parts have been posted on the soom page, but are listed as "sold out." I assume they will be going live soon.

 

the alovs definately have a different resin. Mine is completely different to my beyla which has a more solid look, while the alov seems a bit translucent

 

If you go to my profile page you can see my Breccia with her female BJD hands. I really do love them, though, they really are wicked expensive. I'll try & find better shots for you.

The bat wings and ears are kind of expensive. They were only $27 total added to Violet when I bought her. They end up being $75 bought this way. It's also kind of hard to justify $175 on ball joint hands for my Migma

 

Well, I am disappointed that I can't buy hands separately. I wanted to pick up a pair for my Topaz

 

They've got Teenie Gem hands and they've added Mega Gem bodies. Why don't you ask and see if they'll sell them separately as well?

 

Wow I wasn't expecting the teenie gem hands to be that much.. +$6 for bronze.. Luckily I dont think I need any of them. They all look pretty similar and I already have the cute, afi & keny hands. Ah well.

No bronze for the male Super Gem hands? And I'd forgotten just how expensive their jointed ones are. I think I'll be giving those a miss. Now to decide if I want to pick up a Teenie body for my free choice boy, and any any extra hands. It's weird that you have to pay extra for the hands with the Teenie body. If you don't pick any do they come without hands or something?

 

since time is limited here for the event and I don't really want to go through all of the pages discussing skin matches, I was wondering if anyone knows how close of a match the skin tones of Soom's Cream White are for the whites of Dream of Doll and Elfdoll?

Personally I'm thrilled about the bodies! I need a Little Gem body in cream white, so this is the perfect timing :3 Though (this may sound as a newby question) why is everything still on sold out? They will start the 5th of june right?

 

They started using (and switching between) different resins later, that's for sure.

I have an Ai and had Beylas, too, and they were both still the 'old type' resin.
I didn't follow them lately so I don't know at which dolls these resin changes came in, but I'm almost sure it was around the time they started using more colours (like the blues and reds etc.).
It also seemed like that this kind off 'translucent' (but not french! just resembling) resin was mostly used with the MD and now fantasy type of dolls.
My friends SO Vesuvia, however, along with the SO and most of the 40cm ID line were also from this super translucent looking resin (based on the pics I saw).

I also just remembered another example; when I put my supposedly CW Shale beside a basic CW Dia and...well. Poor little guy was basically yellow in real, compared to the almost paper white Dia. Even though he was pretty new too, and never really outside v__v; (It's not so visible on photos though! Nor Shale nor my Lami. I guess it's a matter of personal opinion and preferations of how much such things would bug you. Tried to find some shots where it's visible; Shale ; Lami )

All of my NS and CW Soom dolls were of different shades so far.

I'm not too sure this helped either... just turning these thing over. ^^;

 

Well I guess the reason they had things closed still was to adjust prices and such but it's open now. The hands for teenie gems went down in price. So I might get one pair now, maybe 2.

 

Everything seems to be up and available now. My payday falls well before the end of the preorder period, yay! A grey female body and a sword hand are exactly what I need, and any shade of grey will be a better match than white. =)

hmm, the teenie gem body page confuses me a little. When they give you the option to select hands, do you suppose this means that is you don't order any you get a body with no hands, or would the hands be an extra to the normal pair?

 

I'd guess that you have to choose one kind. I don't think they'd send you a handless body, but they might make an arbitrary choice for you if you didn't mark a selection.

 

I've also had the cream white not matching issue. My Dolomi head was NOTHING like my Beyla hooves... although that could have been that they came from two different sellers, so they might have yellowed unevenly.

 

Lol! $12.50 would be awesome! I'd get all of them too XD Sadly they are not though.
