He looks awesome! I think this blue makes for the perfect Loki. Love how Soom recognized that too calling him "Lord of Jotunheim".
@fate_xo thank you so much, my dear @nancy_schroeder_ca thank you!! @DemonMiko thank you so much! I got the wig from a seller on Taobao ❤️ @RebelViva thank you so much! that was exactly what I was thinking when I first saw his photos hahaha @oriscany thank you so much, love
So I almost wrote here today asking if anyone ever had your boy stuck in Incheon customs and then the door bell rang and it was UPS with my doll LOL! I posted a Box Opening if anyone is interested. Here is a different pic of him for this thread though (wig isnt styled yet, eyes still otw and hopefully sending off to faceup soon!) Can't wait until Aizen is finished
Anyone else have trouble with Soom faceplates being loose and falling off from barely touching them? I heard someone on IG earlier today saying they their Garion faceplate had a space between it and the headcap and the magnets arent very strong (they also had a host of other issues with quality control from Soom). I'm having the same issue with faceplate, small gap included. Since Edgar is my first ID boy I thought it was just a normal flaw of design. But hearing that its not normally the case and the faceplates don't have a small gap or come off as easy, I thought I'd ask if anyone else had dealt with this before? It would likely be a far less hassle to replace the magnets then send back to Soom (if they would even accept it). I put a silicone wig cap on and its a tight fit so its acting a bit as a rubber band to keep it together more, but just sucks the quality control let this slip by.
I used to have a Hyperon and while his faceplate never fell off, I had read that it could happen so it worried me. I used a tiny bit of sticky tack in a couple places to help keep his faceplate on. But using a silicone wig cap is a really good idea! Maybe instead of replacing the magnets, you can glue some additional stronger magnets inside the head to make the existing ones more powerful?
Someone posted a while ago that you can place some larger magnets inside the headback under the existing magnets. No glue required. I'm trying to find the picture.
@overlordu thanks! I will try some sticky tack for now with the silicone cap until I can get some more magnets!! @nancy_schroeder_ca ty! If you end up finding it let me know. If not thats ok too!
@nancy_schroeder_ca and @RebelViva I think the user you did something like that was @marci12. But she can correct me if I'm wrong.
Yep, that was me. Just add magnets to the installed magnets in the head! Problem solved for me; no tack or anything else needed . Had to unarchive a post. Last pic shows what I mean: https://www.instagram.com/p/B08zxXEJFS5/?igshid=MDJmNzVkMjY=
@RebelViva Yes, Like this. Yes, And besides the horrible design flaw of getting rid of the jagged pattern and making it flat was during the release for the 1st Elf Zak and Dark Elf Zak. They thought it was a good idea to make it completely flat and didn't add a lip or a shelf of resin to go above the brain section so the top of face plate had a ridge/ shelf to rest on, It would just slip off. You can see that design flaw here also along with how to add the extra magnets. I liked the old head design that had the ridged pattern, I felt it held the face plates on better and I never got one where they never lined up with that design included but I know some might of slipped out and shipped out where people had problems. While with the flat design my normal Elf Zak heads face plate shifts to a favorable side it prefers so it doesn't line up with head's back plate. Without the ridge/shelf to rest on, the face plate just falls off too easily. The face plate can still slide off with a good shake with the extra magnets on but it's better than nothing. At least after the first elf Zak release I believe they changed that as my vampire Hyperon has a resin ridge/shelf where the top of the face plat can rest on, although with that design I still use the extra magnet remedy even though I still feel it's not secure enough.
@marci12 Thank you so much! I appreciate it! Going to order some magnets off amazon and do just that! @PowerAndWeakness Thank you!! Also that is so weird they would get rid of the jagged pattern and not do anything else to help secure the head especially not having a shelf. I think the extra magnets with the silicone headcap will be a good enough hold, I will just be extra mindful with handling him (especially once he gets a faceup). Thanks to everyone for the input here! Y'all the best!
Me again. Thought I would give an update... My friend went ahead with the outfit commission and ordered two colors of it. Now just waiting and hoping they turn out right. Now she bought a partner when the Idealian 68cm girls came out. She is HUGE! Where do you get cloths for them?
Calais is wearing a formal by Monaeglow made Iplehouse EID medium bust. Soom ID68 are a bit taller but Monaeglow skirt length is generous!
@lucylanger EID clothes fit them and some SD16. I did buy a pair of SD17 jeans and they fit Coira nicely. Coy doesn't mind squeezing into a few items that are iffy. She is soooo curvey
This thread has been so quiet lately, what's going on guys xD Btw did anybody order Narmer? I remember that he was one of the first Idealians I've ever stumbled upon but somehow he never really made it onto my must-buy list. But recently, I decided to check some owner pictures out again...... and all of a sudden there was a complete character with back story and all :') He obviously has been ordered xD And will be my 3rd ID75 ♡
Oh, I have ordered Narmer with both heads. I have been waiting for him! Hope we get ours soon :-) Funny, he is also my 3rd ID75, haha.
That's super awesome ^__^ Especially because you've been waiting for him! It's always a good feeling when a doll finally re-releases *-* Who else do you own if you don't mind me asking? I went for the basic head but splurged on the bronze resin ♡ I'm curious to see how it compares to tawny!
I also ordered a long awaited Narmer. Also my 3rd Idealian and in bronze with jointed hands. Normal head.
I have Zak in cream and Void in Tawny. I would love to get the bronze color as well, but the cost is so much extra, including for the jointed hands too (which I think are so pricey to begin with!)
Oh, so nice! I would’ve ordered Narmer but was busy that the order period slipped away before I realised I shall await to ogle at your pretty Narmers!
I passed on Narmer this time. (I did get a violet human Soom Glati). I have been wanting a Narmer (especially a bronze or fantasy color) but holding out for all the holiday releases and I need to prioritize getting bodies for other dolls. I can't wait to see the ones everyone else got though!
*swinging in to this discussion with a random question* does anyone have photos or seen a comparison with ID75 and Iple HID bodies? I’m just wondering for clothing purposes !
@Vanille HID upper bodies are too big but they can wear the same size pants. I know as I have another doll that wears HID size and his shoulders are way too broad for the ID75 sized tops but the bottoms fit. They also can wear the same shoes. If you wanted a baggy/oversized look HID could work for ID75
Thank you sooo much ! I ordered a few HID tops from Iple for my incoming ID75 boys, so I’m hoping they’ll be okay
Np! --- Also I really wanted an Allegro but in NS!! (shelling another anime character lol) I guess this saves my wallet a bit for now. The tawny looks amazing with that R.dean faceup though. I wonder if Soom will release a fantasy color for Halloween? Seeing Fairyland release their Halloween stuff got me excited for other companies like Soom and Luts.
@RebelViva I am with you just waiting for a Soom (and LUTS!) Halloween release! I would love to see some grey skin options or blue! I’ve been meaning to share the amazing faceup that rianne/komorebi.dolls treated my boy to! Here’s Lyle, my M. Phonolus pretty much complete! I need to get him some shoes and better eyes. I want to go for an undead solider look so the kind of milky eyes appealed to me because I forgot he has those ~romantic eye openings soooo I got the iris a bit too large, LOL! Spoiler
Hahaha! Love Soom! I get a before shipping notice. Nope. She was already here. My Albany is here. She is currently faceless as I shot her head to prep for painting. Still have a problem with eyes. But... I'm going to forge ahead. My plans got changed. I think I know a back up. @sovayne congrats! He looks amazing. I love the romantic head. I have a Grey phonolus plus I have the beast parts from the megagem release. I had planned to hybridized them so I could have both. If I lived to 100, I'd never be able to accomplish all my plans.
Thanks! Oh nice! I love grey skin options and seeing grey skin dolls always. If you do hybrid all the pieces, I'd love to see pictures but I definitely know what it's like to feel like you have infinite ideas/projects on the go. xD
I just checked, and mine said shipping with a tracking number. I didn't get an email from them though.
Congrats! When did you order? I ordered within the first hour (bronze, both heads), but it is still preparing shipment. Sad
Always amazed at the speed of order fulfillment from Soom - 2 months from order to shipping is quite fast comparatively . Looking forward to hearing / seeing the new arrivals
Agreed! Especially since they're such large and popular dolls! I'm still paying off my layaway for Narmer, so I'm in for a slightly longer wait >.<° I also ordered the bronze resin - so excited to see it in real-life ♡ And looking forward to all the other Narmers coming in soon ^_^
This may be a very silly question, and apologies if it’s listed somewhere. But is it safe to say Soom releases one Idealian boy per month? I definitely want one, and am thinking of getting The Storm, but I’m thinking I should wait for a release I really love.
@writtenlullabye At least one a month, usually 1.5 cause they will have another that will bleed over into the next month. If you have a past sculpt you like wait until Dec as its when they have their free choice on Idealians and you can pick from a variety of sculpts they have released.
Love Soom bronze, apart from the inconsistencies for hybrid matching!. My bronze boy photographs effortlessly despite crap lighting.
Does anyone know if iplehouse HID matches soom id75 head? I'm definitely thinking of pairing the two but not sure how the match looks.
On Iple's site, they list the HID neck at 14.5 cm! EID-M is 12.8-13.3 depending on the type, but they offer EID heads on the HID via doll-choice. Here is a link to some pictures of an EID head on the HID body in an auction listing: ITEM VIEW : Auction - A_HID Leonard 002 The ID75, on Soom's measurement is 12.5 cm, so it'll definitely be a fair bit thicker. Iplehouse's necks typically are a little bulbous at the top, so you may need to sand down the top to make it fit, but I've never handled the HID-M body to verify that it's like their EID-M and Female bodies.
Good luck to everyone participating in the Violet Dobekki Garion raffle! I hope one of us gets him I would love to see owner photos. I almost didn't apply but it will def my xmas gift to myself (if I don't win, its rebuilding PC money lol).
Hey guys! Has someone of you bjd carrier bag from Idelian, this one: Carrying Case - IDEALIAN could you share your use experience, please? And the main question: does it stain on doll? (I am afraid of this because it is full black inside).
Lutego, I have it. I like that carrier bag, but I cant to say anything about if it can leave stain on the doll, cos usually I using Soom's mattress inside.
I have that case, @Lutego! I actually just moved and used the case for a doll without a box. He's been in the bag for a week but I just checked and there are no marks or stains on him at all.
I might be wrong so anyone feel free to correct if anyone knows more about fabrics than me lol, but from my experience the kind of black fabric they use to line the inside of carrying cases is synthetic so it is pretty colorfast and wont rub off. I don't have a Soom case but I have a dollmore one that looks like it has the same black inner fabric and I kept a doll it in for years and it never rubbed off. If you want to be extra cautious, giving the doll body a coat of MSC will prevent any staining.
@C’Yaoo - Oh thanks! I loved those 'pillows' and used them in my carrier bags. So much more useful than foam.
I forgot you can buy them separately! I may have to get another... Edited to add: For some reason Soom won't add one to my cart. (Sigh)
Ooooh thanks for the detailed reply. I definitely wasn't thinking about neck circumference matches when I posted the question (thinking more along shoulder width matches). It's definitely a more important consideration.
