@OyabunOfKyoto My body came unstrung and it wasn't that bad to do. But I would suggest getting a super long ribbon. My regular restringing tool in some areas would not work. I'm not to crazy about taking it apart so that' s why he's still a little loose. Usually I like to keep the knot on the outside to be able to tighten if too loose but with the width of the string, not possible. No way they would have gone thru the slot of the head. @Cloudedmind, Isn't that the truth. A face up can make or break, a deal on a doll in my opinion. @Sakhmet, That would be very nice and helpful to have. I know I was clueless where two pieces were suppose to go on my 75 cause they had been added with the arm pieces. So I was like what? Nothing seemed to work in the arms, until I went searching and found out they were his ankle balljoint pieces.
Yippee I was quick to buy the Hydrangea outfit since I missed out on the other similar outfit. As of now it’s still not sold out, go figure lmao Better safe than sorry though
Soom finally shipped my Scar Hyperon! Now I'm hoping it won't get so hot while being delivered that it'll warp the resin
With enough heat for a sustained period yes, resin can warp. But controlled heat can also fix some dents or allow careful repositioning of fingers. There have been a few minis I’ve seen posted with warped legs from transit. That being said, given that an ID weighs basically twice what a super gem does because there’s just so much resin involved…I don’t think they’d be in danger of heat warping. Thermal shock could be a concern, so maybe let the package acclimate if it’s been out in the heat.
I had a 70 cm doll that shipped recently that did warp with the heat of this summer. It was not an Idealian. The artist was very helpful and I was able to fix him by boiling the part. Hopefully you won't have any need to do something like that, but just in case. That did work!
My Scar Hyperon arrived on Friday and I opened him up today. Thank goodness, there was no warping or anything. I am absolutely in love with the bronze skintone!
Soooo, I need new elastic cord for the jointed hands. I stringed all the fingers but realized that I couldn't rotate and lock the hook for the finger joints elastic due to extra resin in the hand. I had to sand off that section, but I had to cut the elastic off to reach the area T_T Note to self: check to make sure that hook can lock in before stringing the fingers. Anyone know what elastic cord size would work for jointed hands?
I'll be joining the Soom ID75 family soon! I have Lim on layaway with BJDivas kindly sponsoring, and a lovely person here on DoA found my WTB for Garion and has a dokkebi Garion! We've agreed to a layaway and I'm excited to meet both boys~
I’m going to guess it’s probably like 1mm elastic cord since it’s not like it’s holding major weight. If I remember when I get home I’ll grab my calipers and see what’s in my closest sized jointed hands (spirit doll proud), since my ID ones haven’t been shipped yet.
Are we not talking about Selavi? I'm really over these pricey limited sets if I'm being honest, but he's pretty.
Selavi.... I love the colabs. And I love that I'm still in love with Rolling Pumpkin paint jobs after all this time ❤️❤️❤️. The outfit is cute. I just don't wrap all of this around a 75 cm hunky body. And I didn't look at the price. It said limited 10 which means I'll see it on someone's Instagram if I get lucky. I want another girl.
Hey guys! I'm joining the idealian crew here soon! I was wondering if anyone knows some good places for clothes and shoes? Or if there's a place here on DoA that has some of that info that would be much appreciated! I have a 70cm dollshe so I'm wondering if they are similar in size. I would think the pants would be too short. Thanks!
Dollshe 70cm can wear some of my Idealian 75 tops but not vice versa. I’d say search Etsy for ID75 clothes. Also Sadoll for expensive but well made outfits. If it’s an ID 72, I don’t know, but hopefully others will.
Hi @AkioMoichi Welcome! koibitobjd.com has very nice cloths and affordable price, she is also on DOA. I miss her post and love her boys. Wait, I mean I love my boys (that was so close ). I found many independent artists that design clothing for ID75 on Instagram: gentle_doll, mzeroize, leeeunzz (Z.Agram) these are some of them I have ordered from. I love supporting independent Artist! For shoes, majority of them I got are from SOOM and Taobao. Check also at moonlightbjd.com they have good one (they also have ID75 clothing too!). I do not know what you are looking for but hopefully this helps you get started!
@Lucid Walker Ah thank you do much! I'll be sure to check all these out. I really appreciate it thanks. To be honest...I have NO IDEA what I'm looking for clothing wise either. Bwahaha! So all styles to look at for now helps. Thanks again!
Hello everyone! I've officially joined the Idealian family after getting my hands on a Hyperon from the recent release I'm smitten~ Please share pictures of all of your boys please~
@kagami Ooooooh, yes. I love the way you've styled that scar! He has a wonderful expression. Very considering. Makes me wonder what he is about to say.
So, did everybody see that Shoshon is going to be released next? https://twitter.com/dollsoom/status/1437370118439198722?s=19 Shoshon is such a cute looking sculpt ♡ I'm not even sure whether I like the normal or romantic head more ×_× Excited to see the hand parts too!
I just ordered a tawny Shoshon today He'll be my first darker resin doll I have and I'm excited xD Is there a waiting room for Soom Idealian?
So excited to see everyone ordering and getting their dolls. As a Shoshon owner, I'm very glad to see a lot of people ordering him! He's easily my #1 sculpt so I hope people love him a lot, because I feel like he's totally underrated haha. Here's to me wishing again they will bring out River again in human colours soon.
I ran a split for tawny Shoshon. I’m taking the body (for a completely different head who has never been offered in tawny and will be matched), and jointed hands. I’m *really* hoping he’s a darker tawny because it sure seems like I’ve been seeing a lot of barely darker than normal batches.
Popping in with a question - Do any of you ID75 owners also have a Ringdoll Grown 3 body for comparison? Most of my dolls are in the 60-65cm range and only one that's 70cm+. I know the head is bigger and that they're taller than the RDG3, but that's about it. I would appreciate any help. That being said I really hoping for the stars to align and bring home an Idealian at some point.
I don't own a RDG3 but the main difference between the <75cm bodies and the 75cm bodies is usually the shoulder width. The ID75s have a 19cm shoulder width which makes them really wide compared to the <75 bodies, and bumps them up a clothing size as well. You'll usually see the difference the most in the hips and shoulders in my opinion, that's where the biggest differences are. The other thing to take in to account is weight. I've know a lot of people just can't get used to how heavy and big ID75s are and sell them because they find them too difficult to handle. They're base 3kg so they are a little hefty to handle and some people don't like this. I can't really say I know otherwise because I only own ID75s and it's never stopped me taking one bushwalking or hiking in a backpack either, but that's also just me lol. Main takeaway is that they're heavy and wide compared to the smaller dolls and also the price of their clothes will make you cry but they're honestly the most gorgeous dolls so it's all worth it to me haha.
Thanks @Setsura! I definitely like the heft of the larger dolls so I'm not sure that weight/size is a deterrent. It'd also be a lie to say that the outfits for the ID75 don't play a part, pricey as they are. I'm a huge sucker for ridiculously detailed outfits and it seems like others create for ID75 in droves. Doesn't help at all that I'm a costume drama nut and there seems to be a lot of historic outfits more readily available for these guys.
If you like historical outfits TaoBao is a great source for dolls from Popo68 to ID75 size. Most of the time these TaoBao shops dont charge any extra for ID75s, they're all just the same. But they do exist for the smaller body types as well. That being said, ID75 is kinda like the 75cm body standard and you'd be hard pressed to find anything that doesn't come in this size as a standard. Which can be a blessing or a curse since money out the window with great outfits but also always spoilt for choice haha. I dont know how posing is with Ringdolls, but keep in mind ID75s are also known to be pretty bad pose holders, and they also don't have an upper thigh joint. So if posing is a really big deal to you you can make it work with sueding and wiring but be prepared to know they don't stand that well. They're more of a sit pretty kind of doll.
As far as the weight goes, ID75 are never a problem since they always want to wrap around my shoulder when I carry one and I’m old and arthritic! And even though posing is a priority for me, these boys pose so pretty when sitting and lying that I don’t care about them standing!
How consistent are resin batches? Like between the normal tone? I know that tans and fantasy colors are a bit less consistent overall.
@marci12 Congrats! I saw Soom's announcement for him, but couldn't justify paying that much for an outfit and faceup I'd never use. Not to mention he's in the wrong color for the character I want him to be. But, it'll be nice to see owner pictures of him.
@marci12 Congrats! I was going for it and he got in to my cart and I chcecked out but I decided at the last minute to let him go even though all I had to do was pay. I was on the fence really really hard but I already have the Grim Reaper Hyperon from last time, so I decided to let Hwa-In go since I couldn't be sure I wouldn't have a change of heart. You'll definitely have to show him to us when you get him!^^
Hey guys, I’m hoping someone here can help me with something. I bought a Phonolus head with the fantasy ears in normal skin and he came with an Idealian CoA (I bought him secondhand from someone here on DOA). The CoA says he’s from 2013, but I can’t find a normal skin Phonolus that was sold that year? Any information would be awesome!
If you have the CoA number, you can go onto Soom Idealian website and check the authenticity and it will tell you more details of its origin. Support -> Certification verification Certificate Verification - IDEALIAN Hope this helps.
The fantasy head Phonolus was never sold in NS regularly. The human versions were, as Idealians. As marci12 mentioned, it could be from an event, but in the past they made annoucements whichs dolls will be sold on events, and there are none for 2013. But! After some digging... In 9/2012 he was available in a FCE Post MD Event (pointy ear head, NS) though (Here: The Gem > NOTICE). I just checked that with an old Migma head I have from the same year - Soom doesn't date their CoAs to the day the doll was bought, but probably the day it was shipped off. Migma was on sale in July 2013 but her Coa dates to November 2013. Means- Your Phonolus' CoA is probably from the Januar or February 2013, while the doll was available in the aforementioned FCE/Post MD Sale in September.
My amor is here I was so shocked because I checked the shipping last night and it said that he was still in Korea! Not complaining though, I'll upload photos soon!
New release is RIVER !!! Normal AND Bronze !! TWO heads !!! I almost screamed when the email said Idealian 72 but that was a mistake lol
My life is complete :') Just ordered River, my no. 1 grail doll (barely 4 months after my no. 2 grail doll Aslan came home ♡). Still can't fully believe that I'll have both of them finally :'D He was next to impossible to find second hand and it's such a good feeling to finally be able to close my WTB thread for him that I created in December 2019 and have been bumping ever since and instead add him to my ordered list ♡♡
@Sasha of the Crows congratulations! I am very tempted by River but I already have my two grails (Narmer and Hyun) as a couple and little money, so I am sitting on my hands and being happy for you!
I snapped up River as soon as I saw him! He's impossible to find after searching so many markets, and he's in BRONZE too, I am in LOVE! And with a sleepy head addition this time...I'm so broke now but thank you Soom oh my god. I can't wait until he's home.
Aww thank you so much! Such a lovely comment, you're being truly kind and wholesome •^-^• I'm glad that you're happy with your OTP, that's the most important thing ♡ I skipped a lot of beautiful ID75 boys (Hyun being one of them in fact!) because I wanted to be ready day one when River re-released. The sleepy head is so super pretty as well! I have to be reasonable though and watch my budget, so I'm not getting it but boy, is he gorgeous ♡ Congrats @Setsura too ~ I'm excited to see how yours turns out! ^.^
I love that they are offering a sleepy-eyed version too! I already have a River...but he is dang tempting in Bronze. I still love my original River...in NS. Lymond by luluna33, on Flickr
OMG RIVER I'm happy to see him again and so many people happy about it too. I'm a little bummed out I can't afford bronze right now (with the jointed hands $1200 for a blank doll is nuts for my budget right now) but River is perfect in every skin tone. I've been pining for the right ID to come my way and River was high on the list (Hyun and Narmer next Q_Q), so I am so happy to finally announce an ID is coming my way. I've had a few in the past that didn't work out, but I knew I wanted at least one so badly and have been searching for a few years. So this feels good. Congrats to everyone who had this elusive man on their wishlist and can close their WTBs!! Edit: right before I hit the buy button I saw a Zak for sale, so we made a hard choice, but Zak is the chosen one XD I so wish I could have both.
Congrats for everyone waiting on River! You don't see as many Rivers around and it'll be nice to see more. I'm still waiting on them to announce Zak or York or Hyun while I have funds available, but there will be an ID in my future. It really depends on the 3/4 profile view and cheek bones.
