Soom Idealian 72cm Discussion Part IV

.... and I was just about to post another reply.
I loved the vampire version when I first checked Sooms webpage, but since it was a limitied edition I thought there is no chance. And now he's back. Well, I have another 10 days or so to think about it...
But I just remember - don't the idealians come with the special head, with a little brain and special eye holders for movement? Do you have any experience with this type of head?

 

They do have a little brain for stringing instead of a hook. I don't think there's special eye holders though... I don't actually have one myself, but i've seen pics in some places, like this thread: http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showthread.php?402012-SOOM-Idealian-Small-details-BIG-package

Wow I knew it was time for a new thread.......still hoping for a Special Order of Branon or Pangean.

 

Safe on this one for now, 'cause I already have a Gluino. Although... he does make an awesome redhead. >_>

As for the special eye holders, my Gluino came with them but I don't use them at all. I can take pictures this weekend, though, if you guys are curious. They're kinda neat. Weird, but neat.

I'm hoping for a SO River, but I'd happily accept a Pangen too. He's quite lovely... And I don't think I'll ever have enough Idealians in this house. XD Their hands are amazing.

 

If you want to use the eye holders you need the Soom eyes, I've heard, but otherwise other eyes are fine. I will warn you that flat eyes like Eyeco are hard to place and remove because their eye sockets are deep. They do pose well, at least my York does They are heavy though

Ah, makes sense that the eye holders would be for Soom eyes since Soom's eyes are silicone. I wondering why you would need eye holders lol. But yeah, I imagine it could be a bit of a pain positioning silicone eyes...

 

I want to apologise in advance, but could anyone tell me about the Idelian body posability in details or guide to any threads which shows it?

My posing needs are fairly simple, but I am pleased. Here is Hyperon holding Cookie:

I own several buff bodies and I can tell you that the ID line is not the best one when it comes at posing. Sure they can be sturdy if strung and sueded properly, but when they sit down they look like they're going to fall backwards. Also, nothing much you can do with their legs as they don't have the "mobility" part.

In a nutshell: Their posing is very basic.

Nancy: That is just so cute. I always loved how these big guys look so gentle with tinies around... With exceptions of course:

 

I LOVE how my ID poses With that being said his two biggest weaknesses are his single jointed knees and the lack of movement in his ankles. However that also means that he stands like a rock! My DT boy is capable of many more poses but that means that at that weight he is like trying to pose a ragdoll. The ID on the other hand has very limited sitting poses but he is excellent at standing poses. I actually often see for him with him standing because it's easier!

I really wouldn't recommend that at all . These guys are heavy and when accidents happen...

 

Mine fell onto the carpet =) It depends on the distance he's from the floor. I was just eating one day and just watched him fall down as in slow mo (and then "crack!"). Do not recommend that to anyone. Do def invest on a doll stand; I've got one from Dollmore at $20 and works pretty good. Otherwise I sit him down.

 

Oh my Gosh!!!! That's just... tragic! How did you deal with it?

BTW, what do you think about a hybrid Ide head+ Loongsoul 73,5 body? (http://www.loongsouldoll.com/Product_Show.asp?id=191) I think it could work out just fine!

 

If I keep looking at Gluino pictures, I'm quite sure that eventually I will succumb!
I'm trying hard to holding out for York. I'll kick myself if I order Gluino and then York shows up next month.

 

Totally understandable-- it's kind of what I'm doing! I have a Gluino faceplate. And he's so gorgeous. But I really really really want to see a CW York.

Herp. >_< I've been meaning to ask and keep getting sidetracked looking at all the gorgeous IDs that I keep forgetting! Are there any jointed hands that will work with the IDs scalewise and colorwise?

 

I don't think that there are hands that would match theirs in size. However my DT boy who is bigger than my ID has a pair of Island Doll 70cm hands and they are a perfect fit. I'm sure they would work scalewise but and would fit alright but you would need to do both rather than one, like I did with Laz, or it would look funny.

ID's aren't that big. I'm pretty sure Soom's jointed hands would fit them.

Wish I had ordered a pair when I ordered my Antares, but I didn't realize they were even there till after the order window was closed again. Come to think of it, I don't even know if the hands were available again at that point either...

I'm sure you could ask on one of Soom's message boards about what jointed hands they have that would work with Idealians.

 

Soom jointed hands don't work on IDs. I've tried and the hand just goes inside the arm.

 

Thank you all for your response! I kind of figured the Super Gem hands would be too small. I've never had any jointed hands, but they do intrigue me.

 

yeesh, wow I'm surprised there's that much of a difference in the wrist size.
Are the hands I linked from the Mecha Angel page the regular size Soom jointed hands?
You'd think Mecha Angels should need bigger hands, being 80cm and all...but even their feet are small at 8.3cm long compared to the 10.2 cm that a 70cm Iplehouse EID has.

 

MA's are tall, but skinny.

EID's have big feet.

ID's are pretty big. 70+cm of beefy goodness compared to Super Gems 65cm much slender body.

 

Yah Mecha Angel and Super Gem jointed hands are indeed, the same ones =) MAs are very skinny so that doesn't surprise me.

I love jointed hands, I wish all my had them XD I'm yet to find a company that makes jointed hands for big guys...

 

I'm so set on getting York. I left message in the Q&A board on Friday to ask whether they will release York any time soon. Let's see what they will answer.

 

I can guarantee that the island doll ones would fit but I just don't know what they would look like. I'll try one of them on when I get home and let you know. They do have many colors of resin so that might work too.

 

I think Dollzone makes jointed hands and I thought their normal hands were ENORMOUS in person. Probably too much so! I'll keep the options open for now. :3

The original release was NS/tan, so I'm betting that the Special Order would be WS since that's how it seems to work.. And it would mean that he'd be perfect for a character of mine, it'd be great to be able to give him a doll form, finally ;__;

I have other doll plans atm too, but I guess I'll have to start putting aside emergency savings for York's release as well, this is the one doll that I really don't want to miss or I'll regret it >.<

 

I'm very curious in seeing a WS York o.o For some reason it is hard for me imagining him in any other color than tan. Oh, a blonde... Or redhead York!

I really like the combination dark skin/ red hair ( saw your journal). It looks bright and beautiful. And these eyes are just perfect with red hair! The black one is exellent too! Tarrant looks so handsome with this hair style.

Truly sorry to interrupt all these gorgeous Yorks but here is a size comparison of the Island doll jointed had on my York. It looks funny because of the color difference but you can see that it fits well and the size is pretty darn close Sorry for the fuzzy picture! The lighting in my room sucks today!

 

Luluna, all of your men are so handsome and rugged .. and your York is no exception! Looking at them through your eyes is always a treat!

JanJan, your gorgeous tan York is also one serious hunk of resin. They have such a different vibe with the various shades of colour . . Love that steely gaze of his . . quite solemn this fellow.
