Soom Attending New York Comic Con in 2012!

There's an announcement on both the Gem site and the Rosette site about it, so I think it's safe to say it's true

Histrionics aside, I'm terrified of what event they're going to think of next, I don't think I've gone all year without SOME sort of money funneling into Soom.

Dammit, girl, please tell the Soom Powers That Be that a little more warning is helpful to people who live on the West Coast! I am working on it...but we honestly need to take you out to dinner this time, it's been bugging me for 10 months that we didn't do that! My sister also says hallo and we're so excited, obviously, LOLOL!

Wow, how exciting! I wish I lived in the US so I could attend. But I hope that I can see lots of pictures from those who go like last year, it was really fun!

Heidipay and all the West Coast fans : trust me, we have considered the option to go there as well, but it is not possible for the moment...We hope we will have a chance to participate to some event some in the future...

I really want to go! I have not been to this event, and indeed, have seen only a little of NYC while travelling. I am wondering what it's going to be like, too. I'd love to meet the Soom reps and see what they bring!

 

For the people actually interested in shopping at the booth, I hope they actually take credit cards this year. Definite issue from last year.

For those who have not gone, NYCC is a very large industry run comics convention and is essentially SDCC 2: East Coast Boogaloo. I am both hoping for and dreading the announcement of Marvel panels. I'd like to actually SEE the rest of the con this year and actually get to spend money in the Artist Alley.

 

Yes, I shall not forget the Wookie outside the Soom booth soon...and I actually saw a little of the con, but as American comics are not necessarily my thing (anymore) I was happy enough that they were pretty diverse in interests, plus you are in NYC so there may be something else to do in the city that weekend as well! I hope some of the people who had conflicts with other cons, etc, might make it this year however!

I'm a little scared actually, considering all the special events from SOOM that followed NYCC throughout the year. Will this set off another wave? and even more, how can they top the Free Choice boys?
Considering how I regret changing my mind about my Heliard, if they do something of the kind this year in another color...

 

Oh god guys I am so SO SO SO scared. I just made a big ol chunk of money and now I need to make sure I stick to my guns and put half of it aside. There is no way I am missing out on the events this year. With thesis and work and all, I'm not sure if I can actually make it to the con (though I'd like to!) but man oh man am I excited to see what happens with the doll releases.

 

So glad Soom is coming this year! I was at NYCC last year, but missed the Soom booth, so I'm so excited to see it this year!

Oh god. Another reason to go to NY Comic Con with my friends I'm uber excited now! Definitely going to "hunt down" the booth xD

 

I can't wait to see what kinds of events they do this year, even if I'm unable to make it to the con.

 

LOLOL! I was like a maniac last year, dragging my poor sister all over and yon on Thursday at opening, and then I found the Soom booth and then embarrassed myself...I'm sure in that moment poor Victoria was all 'I wonder if it's too late to get a plane back to South Korea' about it, LOLOL! But it was just lovely, I enjoyed meeting so many people and I felt so awful about the credit card thing--I'm sure they're thinking about it! But they also ended up sending me lovely eyes to make up for an order not being on my account, LOLOL! I did enjoy it immensely, and I'm going to be working on logistics for this after next week, as I'm honestly just completely flustered with my work situation right now--in a good way, but still!

I wish I could go. I'm on the East coast, but all the way in Florida. I hope they do a free choice event again. I'm kicking myself for not getting Sard/Dia in bronze. I hope they sell single heads this year too.

 

I'd so love to go there, too, but I'm afraid that I won't have any money left till october >.<

 

I'm really hoping to attend this year (with toddler in tow.) I really wanted to go last year but NYCC was the week end I was visiting my in-laws.

I hope that Soom can also find a way to take credit cards as well. I'd suggest if possible getting something like square if available in Korea. It's great for taking credit cards when accepting payment in person.

 

I'll be at NYCC this year (first time at the con!) and will try and visit the Soom booth. I'm very interested in seeing what all they bring!

 

This year will be my first year at NYCC and my first real trip to New York as well! I am also super excited, I'll be there with thesaraghina as well as a few of our other close friends. Can't wait to meet everyone!

 

Victoria! It was great meeting you last year and I'm so glad to see that Soom is coming back! I was already planning on attending Friday-Sunday and have my room booked with my friend, and she is bringing her 8yr old son this year (they are dressing as Ang and Kora from the Avatar series - so cute! I failed to run into any DoA members there, save for someone in the Anime Artist's Alley, but hopefully I will run into some people this year. Hopefully the teenies I want to bring with me will be here and ready to go. and I just need to figure out what cosplay I'll be wearing.

 

Anybody want to take a guess at what Soom could be planning this year? Victoria said it will take some more time before we get more info, but I was interested to know what everyone thought? I was somewhat scared it would be a Little Gem Free Choice, but she confirmed recently it would not be, but I am still scared it could be a LG of some kind. I hope it is a Super Gem though, since we had the Elf Huntress last year I think, maybe a male this year? I am clueless as to what the event could be online though...maybe...geez, an Idelian FC...or oh I give up! Anywho, those that go, must have pics!

Cat ^..^: The reason I was terrified it would be an LG FC event was because of Aphan being rereleased with Teschen available at the same time...hence, I would be getting the two boys from the last line that I missed out on, but must have and I could order both to switch parts! So I share the hoof obsessions seeing as Sard has always been my favorite as it is Dia + Male + Hooves = Perfection! Another hooved boy could be scary to my wallet, so I am going to say I hope it isn't as you say lol, but secretly be right there with you holding my breath haha.

 

That's so exciting!!! I'm jealous of all those that will be lucky enough to attend.

 

Aw I had really hoped that it would be a little gem free choice event. I hope they might have a few leftover ace/grey's in stock though, I am bumming over missing their order period by two days. Fortunately I have a friend who will be going who would be willing to pick up a doll for me if they release something awesome and exclusive to the con.

 

I have my Comiccon tickets so I'll definitely be there to check Soom's booth! >u<

I wish we could have the Female Free Choice again as I missed on Vesuvia at the time, but I'm curious to see if they'll invent something totally now for this even! XD Phonolus was the one who got me last year, I can't wait to see what they'll have prepared.

 

I'm going with Syndal and thesaraghina this year. My second trip to NYCC. I missed the Soom both last time being pre-occupied with Jrockers but am sure I'll be swinging by this year.

 

I won't be making it to NYCC, but I am sad that there will not be a Little Gem free choice. D: Unless they turn around and surprise us. </3 I am dying for a bronze Kivi.

If they do another free choice of any kind I will probably be interested... it is only a month 'til the con so I hope we hear something soon, I need to know how much money to put aside. ;___;

 

Soom hasn't announced any official NYCC event dolls, but they will be doing a FC event that runs through the Convention! Idealian/MegaGem FC.

 

Last year the event doll wasn't announced until well into October and lasted for almost 3 weeks I think? The FC event will basically be a part of the events like last year, but the actual event dolls won't be available until likely later on, although I have asked Soom if they could give us a time frame or any clues at all...knowing Victoria probably not, but it was worth a try, should have the answer by tomorrow.

 

I think I'm gonna try to make it this time. I haven't been to NYCC in a few years, and I'd really like to go this year. ^_^ I'd have to bring a small bjd, though - dodging the crowds with a bjd in hand and several bags of manga isn't my idea of a good time. Of course, a stop at the Soom booth is a must! I'd love to see an NYCC exclusive male elf... Probably won't happen, but I'll dream about it.

So, this is the info I got from the ever-lovely and generous Victoria. Now we can continue to hold our breath, but with a little more information. I believe that the new event is part of the NYCC goings-on, so we already have that announcement, and now we know a Super Gem like last year, maybe a boy this time? I agree about the hooves, but it very well could be an elf, guess with Soom these days, you never can really tell what they will be coming out with?

 

Also, someone asked in the Teenie Gems discussion room and it sounds like there will also be a TG being released for the con as well (that is not Picro and Sammi). Victoria said that the TG would be announced next week as well. So it looks like a TG, a SG, and the MegaGem/Idealian FC event!

 

I'll be there with my Rosette and ID51! Too bad there won't be an ID51 event.

 

So what do you all think of the special event elf boy? He'd look great next to Alex =)

 

He is very handsome! I am already thinking how to make him AND a Megagem/ID boy happen in my life (won't happen probably but I can at least try...)

Lol I'm actually relieved then! X3 I have have my Andes layaway and not worry about a different centaur getting released! :P

 

That's what I thought. I think I would have died if they had the new Deertaurs in bronze or tan skin there...
