Shopping Socks.

Oct 17, 2022

    1. I like have socks on my dolls when just lounging around but I have 3 Resinsoul MSD and every socks I buy for them just don't look right with the fit lol..I always order the MSD size but still the socks are just to big always so I'm stuck with a good bit of socks but it's ok I guess. Like find some socks that have a little tight fit but I guess I can dream lol

    2. Maybe socks for yosd will be a tighter fit like you want.

    3. Resinsoul dolls are Slim MSD so maybe Minifee socks would fit better for them

    4. Seconding the Minifee socks. I've bought tights made for minifee and when I still had a Resinsoul girl they fit her pretty well. You might also see how thick the fabric the socks are made out of. Sometimes thinner fabric is better for the seams, especially in something small like socks.

    7. It would indeed be very ill-advised ot incorporate high temperatures with attempts to knit....

    8. LOL..true

    9. Cute socks @Teddy! I'd love to be able to knit socks–and sweaters!–and maybe I will someday but I have too many other projects on my plate at the moment.

However, I would like to say to the OP that sewing socks isn't very difficult! Even if you don't have a sewing machine, it is only one seam by hand. So you might look up some tutorials/patterns on how to make socks/stockings. There is a really easy method where you just cut a long rectangle and sew one end and all along the open side, and there is a more fitted method where you outline your doll's leg/foot and then sew along the side seam.

    10. That's true - and for a mini you could make them out baby socks, which come in lovely colours and patterns, as well as plain, and are already finished nicely around the ankle so you don't have to worry about sewing that detail.

    11. I always think socks are so over priced for what they are. One day I will have a go at making my own copying the pattern of the socks that fit my doll the best.

    12. Tightening socks is what got me to figure out the sewing machine. Here's what I did that worked pretty well:
      1) turn sock inside out and put on doll.
      2) pinch fabric along seam up the back of the leg and under the foot until desired tightness is reached and pin in multiple places (especially where things are thickest - heel, calf, thigh - and narrowest - knee, ankle, foot)
      3) take sock off and draw a line connecting the pins (I just used pencil)
      4) sew along the line, trim excess, and turn back right side out.
