OT/General Sockets

Jul 30, 2012

    1. I was working on my main sculpt today and realized that the hip sockets aren't symmetrical, the socket on the left is deeper than the socket on the right. So now i'm wondering. If the doll itself is symmetrical does it matter that the sockets aren't?

    2. It might reflect in a difference in posableness (one of my dolls has this problem, and his left leg can come up higher than the right one) but otherwise, it's up to how much of a perfectionist you are, especially if it's not really noticeable. Personally, it's such a big modification that I'd just move on.

    3. Its so weird both legs pose about the same and it doesn't seem to affect the thighs in terms of one being lower than the other but they were clearly un-even. LOL it bothered me so much i eventually ended up just digging the right socket out till they looked similar. Didn't make a difference though. If you dont mind my asking, did you end up modifying your sculpt or did you leave him as is?

    4. Haha then yours turned out better than mine. I ended up leaving the socket as it was, because the sculpt was in the final stages when I noticed. If I had noticed earlier I would've fixed it, but as it was... definitely not worth it, because I had just got the surface right, and the error was literally two millimeters.
