Shopping Skyland dolls

hello. I'll tell you what I know, a while ago I was very interested in buying a Skyland Dolls doll but unfortunately, I was very short of money. The last pre-order was last May. Currently, those May orders have not been finalized yet, I think the packages are being held. The only way to order a doll with this artist is to wait for him to open a new pre-order. The last time I was disheartened because it was going to be the last time he sold Pigi, Fern, and Bogun (or something like that I remember reading) and then he would dedicate himself to new projects and maybe a boy, but the truth is, that could change with a new pre-order. He had a blind box project but he canceled it because it was not profitable although he was going to evaluate his options with that too. At the moment I have seen artists who have resold their Pigi (new and old body), you could buy one of those second-hand or wait for these new ones to be delivered in May and see if anyone is interested in selling it...or wait for a new pre-order of course

When he opens the pre-order he opens the website or sells through private messaging on Instagram.

 

Of those I followed on Instagram, they have already sold theirs, I haven't seen more, but with these that are going to arrive from the May pre-order, resellers will surely emerge again, after many months of waiting some will be disenchanted and will sell the dolls quickly if they don't get attached at first (impulse purchases for others), so you should be on the lookout when it is announced on Instagram that they have sent the packages.

edit: In the end, I didn't order any or buy second-hand because I had already gotten into some layaways, and these particular dolls (I was going for Pigi too) are on the expensive side of that scale which stopped me at first too, and since I don't own other dolls in that scale or girls either, I wasn't sure about buying it, maybe next pre-order who knows

I often see Pigis listed second hand in Facebook groups (that’s how I bought mine). I’m not sure why a lot of people seem to resell them, but probably because she’s between a 1/6 and a 1/4, so dressing her can be tricky at times

 

I have 1 Pigi, 1 Bogun and 1 Fern, and yes they are very hard to dress! My Fern is on the body-2 so she's less curvy, she fits some Barbie clothes... But the body-1 has an intense pear shape!

The last preorder from Skyland (it was in April 2023) was extremely stressfull for him because there was a problem with the shipment, it took over a year for the dolls to be sent. I myself didnt mind waiting and I was very happy with the way Skyland handled the whole thing, but I think he found it very hard. He also struggled to make any real money with all the preorders from the last 2-3 years, and I think he is reconsidering his business. Not that he will stop entirely, but I think he might try some changes... I don't think he's done with Pigi and co. but probably preorders will be a bit less frequent.

But you know, I could be wrong, it's just what I believe from what he wrote on his IG... I hope you can still get Pigi, she's the cutest, I have 2 extra heads for her (the human version and the famous crying Pigi!!) I am a total fan of Skyland's work and he is the nicest guy ever!!! If you get a chance to put your hands on a Pigi, don't hesitate!

 

Hi there! This may be too late of a post, but I received my Skyland Fern from the artist himself back around Christmas 2023. Yes, it was after the ordering and sales periods ended, but I saw the artist had posted he went to a convention and that he had extra dolls either on Instagram or Facebook (I follow both Skyland on platforms) and I ended up DMing the artist directly on Instagram. He happened to have a couple of Ferns and one Pigi left, and I really wanted a Fern so I got the purple-skinned one (I'll post photos of her eventually, but she's completely nude still as I'm having trouble dressing her! ^^;; )

I would say it wouldn't hurt to directly message the artist to ask since Skyland is a small, independent brand. He's quite nice, though there were many delays in the shipment even for the Fern that was in stock due to stresses the artist was going through (ie late shipments for actual pre-orders and the dolls being held up in his country's TSA).

In any case, I think Skyland dolls are well worth your money and wait! They are beautiful, my Fern came with the artist's faceup style, which I adore, and he also hot glue suedes the dolls before shipping them out! You get an extra set of hands and the hands are magnetized which makes dressing and changing hands so, so easy.

I had the same experience with my Fern!

I missed the order period, but I saw her posted as leftover stock from a convention and snatched her up! She came with a super nice mohair wig, an 8 piece outfit, and two extra sets of hands

 

Wow, BIG congrats to you, taxidermydoll!! I'm so jealous as my Fern did not come with any clothes but she came with a lovely faceup and decent glass eyes I've since bought her a long, white alpaca wig and some very beautiful amber/gold silicone eyes. ^^
