Sewing Site For Custom Patterns

Oct 11, 2025

    1. Hello, everybody. I recently came across a new sewing/pattern resource and after some testing, I wanted to share.

The site is called freesewing.eu (.org also works). It offers a catalogue of patterns that you can customize by inputting specific measurements- just input the measurements and it will create a tailored pattern for you. You can even save measurement sets so that you don't have to input them individually every time. And yes, I checked, it does work for doll scale. I made a waistcoat pattern earlier for an SD13 boy.

One thing to note about doll scale patterns: they print a little weird. The words that would normally float within the larger pieces in human scale are crammed inside the smaller pieces, and they don't fit. They look a bit confusing, but if you can follow the lines, it should be fine. As for instructions, they can be found by clicking the design under "designs", then they'll be under the heading "documentation", which will also include things like fabric suggestions.

If anyone needs screenshots or anything, I can try to help, but I myself just explored this site today, so I am no expert yet. I just thought this would be an invaluable resource for those with trouble scaling/making patterns, or people who just want to put in measurements and get one made. The number of designs isn't huge yet, but they seem to add more periodically.

      Happy patterning!

    2. I’ve used freesewing before for a doll shirt! I have an adobe subscription, so I just opened the downloaded pdf in illustrator and shrunk/deleted the text so it wouldn’t be so in the way :XD:

    4. If people make stuff using this, it would be cool to see their progress and results. Personally I would find it inspiring to see how it all turns out.

    5. Thank you! I'll check it out!

    6. A little tip if you don't have Illustrator or something similar. I use LibreOffice Draw to edit the pattern it made. It's free and open source.

      Here's a comparison for an A4 pattern.
The two left pieces are the ones I've edited, the right is unedited. A lot easier to understand! :)

It also helps to also have a human sized version of the same pattern so you see where all the details need to go.
