+SiO2+ Fairy Tale Series Dolls

Sep 1, 2016

    1. So I decided to make a topic about these dolls, as there seems to be some debate on whether they are resin or ABS plastic. Because of that, I figured we could use a thread here...just in case. ;)

Who all owns one, is ordering, has ordered, or perhaps has never heard of these dolls? For the latter that is interested, they are created by an artist (or two?) on Taobao and have at least three dealers. The Fairy Tale series is an anthro line that currently consists of a bleater (sheep) with open eyes, a bleater with sleeping eyes, a bleater with a centaur-type body, and a civet cat.

Here are some photos of two of them, thanks to (and credits to) the original artists:

      What do you think?

    2. I'm considering ordering a bleater soon. I'm pretty sure they're made of resin.

    3. I thought that, too, but then someone I know received hers and said it's ABS. So I don't know until I either see hers or mine comes in. :P Although being made of ABS plastic would explain why the fairy tale dolls are inexpensive compared to others.

    4. Good point - I figured the cheap price was attributed to the doll being sold not assembled though, since a 1/3 head is around $150.

    5. I'm absolutely in love with the little sheep ahh ;v;
But I'm a little unclear as to where or how exactly to get them or if they're even available now. I found a taobao that I think is sio2's but I'm not entirely sure?
Usually I'm really good about finding these things out but the sites aren't in English and auto translate isn't exactly the most... reliable.
      If anyone here could help me out a bit I'd really appreciate it vwv;;

    6. Be sure to check out Crystal Yi on facebook. She is an official dealer and is currently placing orders for the sheep/bleater. You can also find a Taobao agent and order directly from their shop here. Just be sure to order before the 19th, otherwise you will have to wait until the next ordering period. Orders for the cat should reopen in November, too.

    7. @PrincessEv
Thank you so much. I thought I saw something about a September preorder last night, glad to know it's current!
But it's such a struggle now because someone messaged me about having a Switch Dojin head for sale and now I have to choose because I can't afford to get both :sigh

    8. I ordered my bleater back in September through Taobao. I'm curious if she's abs now, but I haven't seen anyone mention it personally. Supposedly mine is set to arrive to my taobao service in early October. Does anyone have measurement info? I would like to get some clothes for mine, but I'm fretting about buying the wrong sizes.

    9. Did you order her this month or Sept 2015? Just curious, because the latter would be a really long wait! I don't have measurement info, but I hear that they are too thin and a bit too small for Lati Yellow/Pukifee clothing. I'm not sure if PukiPuki/Lati White SP clothing would fit or not. That may be too small!

@Celestila if you see this, do you have any more information?

    10. This is NOT my video, but I love her channel so I thought I'd share. She has not one, but two of the little sheep. I thought I would share her video here in case anyone wanted more info on them.

    11. And here is her first box opening. Sorry for posting out of order.

    12. The Cutitz was the one who told me PKF/LatiY clothing wouldn't fit. Love her videos!

      • x 1
    13. I know! She has such a great collection! Can't wait for the rest of her SIO2 dolls to arrive! That was how I found out they were actually resin dolls. From watching her videos!

    14. I'm just confused because someone I know personally has one and says that they're abs plastic. So...as someone who actually owns both kinds of dolls, maybe I should go see it in person and decide for myself. Cause I am very confused on the mixed responses...

    15. I ordered August of this year, hah. I meant to say that, but I guess September just came out. I'm pretty sure they're resin to be honest. Maybe it just has a similar texture, since it tends to vary?

    16. Okay, seems like this recent order is now closed. Anyone going to order the cat in November?

    17. I have one! A group of us bought them earlier this year. I bought the entire enchilada with all the extra fun parts. :) Super cute but the elastic that came with it was cruddy and the feet and hands fall off constantly because the hooks on them are too shallow. You play, you pose, they fall off and then you curse! LOL!

    18. I am currently still waiting for my Bleater as I placed an order in early September. Once I get him I'll be sure to post some photos!

    19. I've ordered one too, its currently at the taobao agents place :) I'll be adding some small parts to my TB order, then I'll post some pictures here. By the way, I tried to order extra hands, but my agent told me that they can't produce the extra hands anymore because if some technical problems :|

Is PKF/LatiY too big or too small? I don't mind having my sheep stand around 'naked' (as naked as a sheep can be, wool and all), but it would have been awesome if I could get her a small vest or a jacket :)

    20. Just paid to have my bleater shipped! I'm sad they aren't producing the extra hands, I was going to consider putting in an order for parts next. :sigh

    21. @Allegra - seems we're in the same boat there, haha. Will you paint your bleater yourself? :)

    22. @meanae no, i probably won't! I thought about doing the blushing myself, but the facial details will have to be done by someone else, at a minimum. are you going to do your own?

has anyone figured out what kind of clothes are gonna fit these little guys? i was thinking of ordering puki puki size but i'm pretty sure that's just way too small, and pukifee is pretty baggy from some of the pictures I found on flickr.

    23. Yeah I'll be painting my Bleater myself :) I have no idea how to paint her though... maybe I dye her a light tan? And then golden decoration? Hm...

    24. @meanae that sounds really pretty! I know I would really like to have mine blushed brown in the faces and hands, but I haven't decided what to do for her fluffy parts, there's so many choices.

    25. Okay, so I got my Bleater (yay!) but after stringing her I still have one big problem - her head is super wobbly >.>" I'll do some sueding tomorrow, if it doesn't get better, she'll get a custom wig, and can't wear the resin one.
It would also have been nice to have the legs labelled right and left, I just spend an hour figuring out why she couldn't stand xD
With her legs on the wrong way (*cough*)

      And correct legs :)

    26. Has anyone who ordered in September gotten any updates?

    27. I think I've seen Crystal Yi on facebook mentioned that the September orders are delayed because Sio2 was at a Dollfair somewhere in Asia (Dollpa I think?) and had to move the shipping of recent orders a bit back.
      Edit: Thats what she said:
Update from SIO2: SIO2 is back from the DP and they are busy on organizing the orders . We are pushing them everyday to ship orders ASAP. They said they would ship some items this week but not sure what items could be ready by the weekend, most possible item is civet cat. As for sheeps, we are still waiting for their reply. SIO2 is a new doll company and their production time is not as stable as the big doll companies. We much appreciate your support and understanding !!

    28. Thank you! I figured they wouldn't ship until January or February anyway, but I wanted to make sure. ^^

    29. Does anyone know how to order these guys from Taobao? I know you use something like Spreenow, but beyond that I'm lost. I don't know which options to choose, etc. - I want the open-eyed Bleater.

    30. Crystal on facebook mentioned that the next preorder for the Bleaters will be February next year :) I tihnk the selling page for them only offers the OE head. The other possible option on the sales page is adding the 'assembly' option, since the Bleaters normally come unassembled :)
Here's the Bleater selling page on taobao sourcing:
Sheep BJD Sleeping Eyes and Open Eyes, production starts when quantity meets 20
      (And taobao page: +SIO2+童话村系列BJD开眼/眠眼羊咩咩【关仓】)

The extreme price is a indicator that the product is currently sold out.

    31. Oh and I wanted to show a picture of how my Bleater turned out:) I screwed the idea of dyeing her xD

    32. @meanae She looks amazing! Love her little friend, too. May I ask what their names are? :)

    33. Thank you!

    34. My Bleater is called Sigrid, or Siggy for short (she was perviously named Alice, but after her face-up she had a nordic vibe, and got renamed). The small dragon doesn't have a name (yet) :)

    36. How well do the Bleater's pose? I think she is really cute, but I didn't play much with my last tiny

    37. Once you manage to string them properly (and with better, thicker strings + sueding) they can actually hold poses rather well :) Getting her to stand with the original strings and no sueding is a nightmare, especially with the resin hair on.

    38. This might be an odd question, but is there a certain brand of elastic you recommend?

    39. No not really :) For the legs I've used 3mm elastics that I got from ebay; arms are 2mm (or 1,5mm, not sure right now), from a local sewing shop... but ebay should have them too. Bleater originall comes with tiny 0,5mm for the arms and 1mm for the legs >>"

By the way, Bleaters come with their own stringing tool :) Which I'm reaaaaally grateful for, since stringing them would otherwise be a near impossible thing to do >>"

    40. Thank you! I appreciate the information. :)

    41. I paid shipping on my Bleater today, so hopefully she will be home soon. I didn't get an email from the dealer about my order being in stock, which was a little odd. I just happened to check the website and see that my order was in.

      edit: Finn arrived today! ^__^

    42. I bought a sio2 sheep, the closed eye version through Stacey's Pink Ocean.
I have to say I am altogether disappointed with the doll and the company really. I was told the doll I was buying was a fullset, and shown a picture of the dolls and told I was getting the one with the blue outfit. I also paid $15USD extra for a pair of slippers.
When the doll arrives it was unstrung and completely unpainted, which was a surprise as I was told it was a full package doll and the one in the picture was painted. The only thing that came with the doll was it's stringing tool...which you really do need to string it and the blue dress and hat which are really badly made.
I asked why I got a blank doll when it was supposed to be a full set and they just said "oh no full package doesn't mean painted, if you want the face painted you can post it back and they will paint it for $104USD"......really $104USD to faceup a tiny! no thank you.
So basically I found out that in stock fullset just meant a blank unstrung doll with a badly made dress probably worth $2 thrown in.
That was a bad start, but also because this doll is quite chunky it can't stand well, it's head is super floppy and even though I have tightened the crap out of the elastic the hands and feet fall off every time you try and pose the doll, it's really a design flaw in the little resin hooks that the elastic loops around that they don't have any sort of channel for the elastic to sit in. It's ability to pose is very limited, and it is almost impossible for me to get it to stand since it is so very top heavy.
I think in my 10+ years in this hobby this is the worst doll I ever bought, which is really sad as it is adorable looking and I really wanted to love it instead of wanting to forget it :(

    43. @raewhitewolf - I'm really sorry to hear that :/

What I'd definitely recommend about the strings/standing issue, is getting new, thicker strings, and hot glue sueding on all joints. Mine doesn't pose like a pro, but at least she can stand, sit, and move her head properly. If you need any help, let me know!

    44. Yeah for sure that neck is going to have to be sueded.
I need to find some good glue for the magnets as they were out of the head when it came and see what I can do about the hair as it just won't sit properly. Also one of the hands won't fit into the wrist socket properly and one of the ears doesn't go in properly either.
I really don't want to sound bitter about this doll or this company, but I really feel like I might have been sold a slightly defective doll and outfit that they just happened to have lying around. It's such a shame.
I really want to enjoy this cute little sheep, but it's just been chucked in a drawer since I got it because there is just so much wrong with it that I will have to fix......I'm pretty bummed out about the whole thing.
Thanks meanae for the offer, I'll be sure to hit you up if I need advice.

Your girl is gorgeous by the way, I lover her colour and her character :)

    45. I don't think defective is the right word, maybe unfinished better describes it. It was just not properly finished, which I guess is a quality control issue more than anything.

    46. does anyone know if Bleater will ever be re-released? I know they just released the centaur version, but will they ever release the regular one again?

    47. I was told they would be, but the company doesn't say when.

    48. I remember that Crystal Yi said on facebook a few months ago that there would be a new preorder for Bleater at the beginning of 2017, but since the big MSD centaur came along, that idea seems to have been moved. Maybe in the summer?

Bought the tiny centaur that Stacys Pink Ocean had in stock. My bleater needs a friend, haha...

    49. I dremelled my sheep's eyes open because I wasn't happy with the squinty sleepy eyes, and I have also dremelled the holes where the ears attach quite a bit on the one side so the ear goes in much better. As you can see on the pic before I did it the ear stuck right out.

    50. Aww she looks super adorable! I really like the eye mod, it gives her such a cute expression...
And yeah, those ears are kind of annoying to put in xD I had some small resin blobs in the inside of my Bleaters head too that prevented the ears from going in all the way. Had to dremel them out <<"

    51. Thank you, yeah the mostly closed eyes weren't doing it for me, I couldn't see her eyes at all, and I kind of felt like what's the point of having eyes in at all if you can't even see them???
Still can't make up my mind if I want to keep it or sell it though.

So yours had ear problems too! Just seems like they are not finishing the dolls properly, which is a bit of a shame. I was considering the centaur boy they have planned for awhile there, but I kind of feel like I may have dodged a bullet there.

    52. Updating this thread since I've fallen head over heels for these little guys! The kitty is now back for sale!

    53. If I wouldn't have bought the tiny Sio2 Sheep-centaur Stacys Pink Ocean had for sale two weeks ago I would probably have bought the civet cat too, haha... that said, the centaur should arrive this week :love

Edit - not this week, but today, haha.

    54. @meanae OMG I need both Bleater and Centaur in my life! So adorable! Congrats!

    55. Raewhitewolf: While the quality of the doll itself and the default outfit does fall on SIO2, I think it was more of Stacey's Pink Ocean's fault for not better explaining what the fullset was. I ordered through Crystal Yi and she very clearly told us about what our options were (via her facebook and website). If I had ordered through SPO and had been shown a photo of what I was supposed to receive and found out later that wasn't exactly the case, I would have been upset as well! Actually, I'm a little frustrated that that happened to you and I'm sorry. D: I'm also sorry that your bleater has been giving you issues, but I love the mods you've been doing to improve her. Did you also sand her feet so she stands better?

    56. Yes you are right SPO definitely didn't make it at all clear that fullset just meant an outfit and no faceup. I did hit her up about it and she apologized, but I said she for sure needs to be clearer about that sort of thing in the future. I don't plan on buying from either of them again though SPO has quite a big markup, and Sio2 clearly has no problem sending things out badly finished. I can only hope the company has addressed their QC issues, because for the price people are paying for that big deertaur boy, I'd hate to see people getting badly finished dolls.

    57. I am not happy with my Bleater. The hands and feet fall off all the time. The "resin hook" isn't pronounced enough so the hands and feel slide off all the time. The long haired resin wig is too heavy and I too had to sand the holes for the ears just to make the resin hair wigs stay better. It was so adorable in the promo photos but the execution was not what I expected. The elastic they gave to string it was horribly inadequate. Good thing I am a tiny BJD collectors so I was able to use others I had on hand. As cute as it is, it doesn't have the level of playable stability I like to have in a doll. I am not sure I will keep it.

    58. I'm curious if the cat stands better?

    59. They look like they have the exact same body, do I doubt it.

    60. For anyone interested, there's currently another sales round for Bleater :)
