    1. News thread: New Company - New Doll Brand[Sio2 Doll ]and New 1/6 Limited Doll-Ragdoll (Puppet Cat) ★Stacy's Pink Ocean★

Sales page: Ragdoll (Puppet Cat) Basic-Sio2 Doll(Limited)1/6 doll - stacyspinkocean.com

[EDIT] Here's Sio2's Taobao shop, which has cheaper prices but the Ragdoll Puppet Cat is already sold out there: https://shop61246968.world.taobao.com/shop/view_shop.htm?user_number_id=173741573

Holy **** I love her! I have not usually liked this kind of very stylized huge hips + small torso body type, but in this case I just find her so captivating. She looks like the Elin race from the fantasy game Tera (Elin). :D

I really hope the artist will continue the line with more options for faces and feet. The only reservation I have is that I prefer human feet.

    2. Ragdoll is a cutie-patoot!:D If I didn't have so many other doll projects in limbo I'd scoop her up. I wonder if SPO will also accept orders for Sio2's little sheep/cat/centaur dolls as well in the future?

    3. I really hope so! This is definitely an artist that I will be keeping an eye on.

    4. I actually have one of this artist's off topic dolls and he is just the cutest! I am really excited to see this doll. I get the feeling that she is going to throw a wrench into my careful dolly plans.

    5. Oh, I so in love with this cuties, but it is very hard to buy them...I miss the first one kittie...

    6. Did the artist list Ragdoll's measurements anywhere? Her ridiculous proportions are making me seriously reconsider my no tinies rule.

I also noticed that they're up for sale on Taobao for a bit cheaper, but Google Translate isn't helping me make heads or tails of all the options. >_o

    7. Ugh, shoulda bought her when she was up on Taobao... she was so much cheaper there! Just the cat ears and tails alone, with blushing, are twice the price when compared to Taobao. T_T

@whitebread: She's actually not for sale on Taobao anymore. That's just a page for those who have ordered her already via Taobao to order extras for their doll. Her Taobao sales period ended... May 21? 22?

    8. Thanks for the info! Hm... I think I will keep an eye on Sio2's Taobao shop and wait for the next doll. She did a cat version of her little sheep doll, I can't imagine he's just going to toss this ragdoll body. She will probably make another doll reusing the same body.

    9. Aw yeah, my Taobao agent just emailed to say that they're no longer selling her.

At least we have a fairly big window to order her. I wonder if they'll sell separate heads and accessories in the future. A bunny or cow option head would be perfect.

    10. I love her! Particularly her resin wig. Too bad I won't be able to afford her. :(

    11. Hey guys, can anyone confirm that this is Sio2's official Taobao shop? Link: 首页-子迁他家-淘宝网

I had assumed it was, but then realized if you search Sio2 on Taobao you will see the same dolls/same photos in multiple shops.

    12. I love that doll, but I found out about it too late, and don't feel comfortable buying it now at it's current price. Pretty much everything Sio2 makes, makes me swoon.

I'm pretty sure this is the official shop, every post I've seen regarding this shop all link back to this one.

    13. I have that doll bookmarked already she's just gorgeous- I only wish I didn't have to get the fullset for the sculpted wig because I find it to be one of the most charming features but oh well! :3

    14. I was so close to ordering her. I think if there was an option to have regular feet it would have totally won me over. I adore her proportions~ She's completely the size and type I'm looking for it's just the feet that made me sad since I don't think there will be any shoes she can wear ;-;

    15. Same here, she has such a cute and odd body shape but I don't want her to be permanently a catgirl, I wish you could swap the feet or the entire lower leg for a human one instead. I like how the cat ears are optional parts that can be removed.

I'm really really really hoping that Sio2 will release a version of her that's all human. Or maybe an elf or fairy would be even cuter, because then she could fit into the world of my large dolls.

    16. She certainly is a charming little thing, I've also had my eye on Sio2's off topic doll too. Her style is so cute! I am loving Ragdoll's hips as well, but I had to pass due to the timing. Ah well, hopefully she'll make more, and you guys will spam this thread with cute owner pictures!

    17. Well here's a picture of her from the sculptor who made her a new costume and hair. The hair reminds me of Cardcaptor Sakura haha! Ahhh so cute <3

Edit: Ahh nvm it IS suppose to be a Cardcaptor Sakura cosplay XD

    18. Ooh it's so sweet! Do you think she'll release the wig as a separate piece later on?

    19. Curious how those who have looked through the original Taobao sales page have determined she was significantly less expensive? Google tells me the original fullset price of 2690 yuan = 404 USD. It looks like the cat ears + tail (or is this just the makeup?) cost 150 yuan = 22 USD. Seems the major downside is that the "astonished" face may have been included with the Taobao fullset (relying on Google translate here, so not sure)? Overall, that's an ~150 USD difference, which, once you factor in agent fees, shipping from Sio to the agent, and shipping from agent to you doesn't sound like much of a savings.

    20. You don't have to use an agent for Taobao anymore, actually. Taobao now does international sales. Here's how: How to Buy Directly from Taobao – Updated for 2016 | HowToTao

And even if you didn't use that route, basetao is my preferred Taobao agent and they charge very low fees and shipping costs.

To each their own, and I'm sure some would feel the comfort in buying from a well established bjd retailer like Stacy's is worth the higher cost, but personally I would prefer to buy from the artist's Taobao shop.

    21. Was not aware of this - thanks for the heads-up!

    22. >w< Oh cool, there is a thread for this cutie!~ Haven't been keeping up with much of DoA for a few months so I thought i'd snoop around and see if there happened to be one hehe~
Anyways, I put a Ragdoll on order through SPO recently and am pretty excited so I thought i'd see if there was a thread and if anyone else had. Looks like most people passed them up though so that's a bummer, but i'll at least have some Ragdoll spam in the future for anyone who may want to see some owner pictures. Hopefully some more owners will pop up later on too~
Its a shame their tiny anthro dollies are off-topic apparently (?), I definitely want to snag a few of those as well. I guess if I do I can spam them together with Ragdoll and that is acceptable at least haha xD

    23. After the new rules allowing animal dolls, are SIO2's sheep and cat dolls now on-topic too?
Would be great to have some picture spam of those cuties until Ragdolls get to their new owners :)

    24. Oh, I do hope so! They are adorable. And I am so glad about DoA opening up the limitations, frankly no offense to DoA but those restrictions have seemed outdated for years now, given how big the trends are for fantasy/animal/otherwise unorthodox bjds are (as well as so many companies regularly offer heel feet versus regular ankle-jointed feet). It's a good move.

I love the little bleater cutie in your icon, by the way :)

I can't wait to see some owner pictures of Ragdoll as well.

    25. :chibiOh i love sio2. I saw first the sheep of the artist. But i love cats so my favorite is the cat one but the artist die a really good job in them all.The New Had which is just a limited time there is really pretty.:kitty2

    26. Are we sure it's okay to post about the anthro dolls? I have been informed that they are made of a high quality ABS plastic and not resin. If that's true, I'm not sure they're on-topic here. :<

    27. Thank you! I hope so too, I believe they should be here any day now so I'm really excited! It's my first doll that isn't msd, I am going to have fun with the tiny size ^^

    28. Is there any Ragdoll at home? I wait for mine and hope to see some pictures of her =)

    29. Hello all,

SIO2's sheep figure Bleater does not meet the minimum jointing Criteria and is Off Topic for Den of Angels. While it cannot be discussed on the forum, you can still include it in pictures with your other On Topic dolls.

We have also not found any 100% statement about the doll be resin vs. high quality abs. If it turns out Bleater is resin, it will not change it's current Off Topicness, but we would not allow as long as it's material was unknown.

    30. Oh my goodness! Ragdoll is such a cutie!! I'm so sad I missed her sale period!
Does anyone think she will be released again?

Also, does anyone know what her price was before?
I'm looking at the SPO website where she is sold out and it says $340,000.00 ??? - that can't possibly be correct? :aeyepop:

    31. I think the basic price was about $340. I don't know why they put some crazy price on sold out items.

    32. Oh okay. I was very confused! Thank you!
I can't wait to see once everyone starts receiving their Ragdolls! I'm definitely swooning over her sculpt at the moment. :D

    33. I believe they use the crazy price to prevent people from purchasing the item, while still letting people be able to see the details of past work. I don't think Taobao lets vendors set a 0 price listing for unavailable items, the way a shop normally would.

    34. Oh alright, got it! Thanks so much for the information! I can't wait to see everyone's dolls once they are delivered! :)

    35. I can't wait for you to get yours just so I can drool over the photos! At the same time I feel like I would regret not getting her x.x Apparently the artist had intentions of making human feet but ran out of time and couldn't get it cast T_T man... if only...

      • x 1
    36. @JellysFancy I'm with you on the human feet. That is really just the one thing stopping me, I mean the cat feet are a cute and unique idea but I'd rather have her as a fully human girl most of the time and have the cat feet as an optional, part time thing.

Does anyone know if Sio2 has a blog of some kind, perhaps? I just want more options to stalk their work, because I am hoping they'll work on something similar to Ragdoll soon. A matching boy version for Ragdoll would be adorable too.

    37. SIO2 has a website that links to their blog and facebook page.

Also an update. I placed an order for a doll with SIO2 on August 18th, 2016. It was estimated to take 2 months to make and ship the doll. After several attempts of contacting the seller throughout this month, I received a refund for my order today so I won't be getting my doll... I'm not sure what happened but I'm a bit disappointed with the lack of communication. Hopefully it was just my order and no one else had problems with their SIO2 order...

    38. Oh no! I'm sorry that happened to you. D:

Maybe next time she's up for sale (or a similar doll is up for sale) she'll have the human feet though, so perhaps something positive will come of this. Or maybe it's more reliable to get through dealers then. Sigh.

    41. @stray.dream , there is no discussion thread for SIO2 in the mini section yet, but they have not made any dolls that would technically belong there yet. The new deer boy is 35cm tall so by height this would be the correct place to talk about him.

TwT Anyway, my Ragdoll arrived a little while ago but forgot to post it here whoops~
I have some frustrations with they way they were designed and they also arrived with a chip on their knee joint, but I am still very happy to have them and really excited to work on them when I get the chance.
Sorry they are extremely incomplete, what little they have is temporary and this isn't a very good photo but here they are. I have plans to dye mine similar to an actual Ragdoll cat and will probably make a project journal here documenting it when I have time to work on them~
      [IMG]

Also the new deer boy is really gorgeous but I definitely don't need any centaurs and sadly his proportion/size in relation to other dolls is rather awkward so he wouldn't really fit in with typical 1/4 or 1/6 dolls (smaller than even a Minifee Moe girl so definitely wouldn't work with 1/4 dolls >__>), even similar anime styled sculpts so i'll have to pass. If there was a human option for him i'd be super tempted to get him to go together with my Ragdoll since I love his face and proportionally they'd probably go together pretty well. Hopefully some others will grab him though! <3

    42. @Arkelle thanks for the info! Your Ragdoll is super cute. :)

I am on the fence about the deer boy. I think the aesthetic of these Sio2 dolls is really different and awesome, but I'm not sure about the price for a doll of this size. I know it's an art doll price but I just don't know if I am ready to venture into that super high end side of the market yet. Looks like I have a few weeks to decide whether to order or not.

    43. I really like the new deertaur boy. Only issue, besides the price, is I don't do centaurs. Oh well. If he had a human body, I would seriously consider getting him as his face is so sweet.

    44. I really wasn't into fantasy dolls or even dolls with anime like faces, but SIO2 definitely changed my mind. I hope I can get a ragdoll eventually, and I'm in love with that deerboy, but i have the same problem as @stray.dream :( the price is reasonable for such a gorgeous doll, I just can't afford it now. Maybe in the future I'll find him on the secondhand market

    45. Hiya!

I just wanted to let everyone know that many SIO2 agents overprice their dolls by quite a bit. According to the SIO2 website, the deer boy is only about $550.

    46. Yeah, I noticed that too. It's rather shady if you ask me. Taobao proxy services usuallt only charge a 5% fee, plus internal China shipping which I saw one agent claim was 100 rmb - but even then that is still only $14.44 USD. So (550 + 14.44) x 1.05 for the fee = $592.66, before international shipping which I would expect is $20-30, so at most he should be around $623 shipped.

Meanwhile, dealers all have him at $795 before shipping. That's nearly a 30% markup...for what? Not cool, if I do decide to order I will use Basetao or Bhiner.

That said, even so $550 is pretty steep for a 1/6 scale doll. That's the same price as most 1/3 scale dolls. On the other hand the body makes him maybe twice the mass of a normal 1/6 doll.

    47. Yes. Hi. Hopeless centaur enthusiast here, forever wanting an anime style doll and this is both so I'm 500% interested in this guy. (Also the little ragdoll cat was adorable and I wanted a sort of anime face like that but not a kitty, and I've liked these SIO2 dolls a lot that I've seen man, dang!)

I'm really wanting this deerboy and the cost is throwing me off.
May I ask about how one would go about buying it at the not-so-marked-up price through a proxy service or anything else? Assuming that's possible. $550 sounds way more reasonable to me for a centaur and I also really want him in a range I can actually afford.
Will he be available on Taobao or anything? I've never used a proxy or anything but maaaan.

Why is it so pricey on staceyspinkocean? I cry. I really want this guy dang.

      -- EDIT
After lurking their site, one page has some links to a taobao sale? So I'm going to assume this is how we can purchase him.

    48. @stray.dream I think the deer fellow is actually a 1/4th scale not a 1/6th. O= I consider $400 pretty standard for an MSD, and since this guy is a whole fantasy centaur I like his price! (The one listed on the website for $550... the marked up one makes my wallet hurt, and I don't think I can pay THAT much, so I'm with Nattou!)
I'd love to know other places to buy Sio2 dolls, this company is on my raydar now hahaa, that ragdoll was precious,...

    49. Why is the mark up so HIGH at all of the agents that carry this doll! *cries*

    50. @Nattou @P-Aei couple months ago I got an order for bjd eyes + craft supplies from Taobao via Basetao, everything went well and even with the fee the price was better than ebay, plus obviously better selection. If you google taobao proxy, taobao service, or how to taobao you will find lots of guides to the various proxies available. You can also buy directly from taobao technically, but that option requires setting up an Alipay account and that's too much hassle for me.

I think my link isn't working for some reason, maybe it's because I am on a phone, but go to the Sio2 taobao shop link in the first post in this thread and you can find the deer boy's listing from there.

The more I think about the dealers the less sense it makes. Like, look, I buy Nendoroids from AmiAmi (dealer of anime merch) instead of GSC (the actual producer of said merch) because AmiAmi gives me a discount, which they are able to do because they are able to order in bulk at a discounted wholesale price from GSC. If AmiAmi charged MORE than GSC, nobody would buy from them and they would go out of business.

So the bjd dealers thing completely baffles me. What is the incentive to go through them? Are people just unaware that there is another way? If people just want to order with an english speaker in case of disputes, well Basetao does that too - in fact in my order one of the taobao shops sent the wrong item to Basetao, Basetao caught the error and got it corrected before I even brought up the issue.

As for the original price of 550, the more I think about it and the bulk of the doll - he may be technically short enough to be in the 1/6 but you're right taking in consideration the size of his deer body/his length he is probably the same size as a 1/4 doll - the more that price seems reasonable. Plus it is a single artist after all, producing a very small run, so they can't afford to reduce margins as much as a company that can place a lot more pieces. It's just a matter of whether I personally can afford it. I just purchased my first big doll, so I don't know if this is a good time to splurge. Sigh...

    51. As @stray.dream has already mentioned, using a Taobao agent would be your best way to go! I've never tried Basetao, but many people on DoA and in the doll hobby use TaobaoTrends, myself included. They're very well accustomed to BJD orders, and I've never had a single problem with them. You can ask them about specific details regarding your order (for example, you can request they order you the single-jointed body vs. the double-jointed one, or a faceup vs. no faceup) and they'll make sure to take care of it for you.

Of course, you will need to pay an agent fee. TaobaoTrends charges an additional 10% on top of whatever you order. You'll also need to pay for local shipping (shipping from one part of China to another is generally only a few dollars) and international shipping. Those extra costs do add up, but they're nothing compared to the markup on Stacy's Pink Ocean or TBSS. I'd estimate it to cost you an additional $50.

This is the official sales post for SIO2's deer boy. However, there are agents on Taobao that may also be listing the deer boy in their own shops. I'd be careful to make sure you're not dealing with a recaster at that point, but if they promise to order directly from SIO2 and there are no signs of their other sales being recasts, then I'd be pretty confident in assuming that they're just agents, sort of like Alice's Collections.

Many people are unaware, and the ones who aren't are scared of using Taobao. Yes, it is true that there are some recasters on Taobao, but it's really easy for me to tell if a specific Taobao shop is selling recasts. If you know how to spot a recast on eBay then you'll know how to spot one on Taobao, too. It's not like they're hiding it.

People are also scared of using an agent, in general. I guess since they can't buy from the store directly, they don't want to deal with the in-between stuff? I don't even know, man. Using an agent is so simple, and I find it easier than ordering directly because they take care of everything for me. All I have to do is throw money their way, LOL.

I think people like Stacy's Pink Ocean (and sometimes even Alice's Collections or Jeeryama/Clover-Singing) mark the prices up because they can. We're told to trust these people, even though they're literally robbing us, so everybody flocks to them. On the other hand, people say to avoid Taobao because of recasts (even though I can spot a recast from a mile away!) and potential "untrustworthy sellers" so everyone's too scared to use it. At least I'm not spending an extra $200 + shipping on a doll. :kitty2

    52. @stray.dream I use AmiAmi too! I also have used proxy services like Shoppingmalljapan to order from yja. Awesome, this is sounding better. I'm kinda sorry I can't afford to go through stacys Pink ocean because it might be slightly easier, but I'm definitely going to look into taobao agents. I have a friend recommend spreenow, or something.

      @NekoNyanMew

I've seen recast Kinoko juice dolls up there awhile back and pretty much assumed that I shouldn't buy anything from taobao, but you're right. Spotting recasts there are pretty easy. I don't think the deer will be a problem so much since stray.dream linked their website which I think probably leads to the taobao listing. Thanks for all the help! =D Do you guys have any of the other tinies? Sion stuff is really cute lol. I'm glad I didn't find them earlier or I'd be even more broke...

(Mobile, stop auto correcting, yeesh. Typos galore)

    53. I've been waiting for this for too long. Finally an anime boy you don't have to hybridize. (Sorry, not the biggest fan of the SmartDoll boys, especially in comparison to the girls! If Danny had released boys that were as cute as the girls, that would have been the best!)

But I would also prefer having a human body versus a centaur. It's a bit frustrating, as I feel the price and the centaur body may decrease his sales. The artist may think anime boys aren't as popular as girls (true, but that is mostly due to a dearth of options!), and start an extended anime girl kick.

Is there anyone who could talk to the artist and mention that many would prefer a human body? Even if she doesn't do it, it would be good for her to know there is a lot of interest in cute anime boys!

    54. So true Lycansea! If he had a human option, I'd be figuring out Chinese buying services and placing an order asap!

    55. I've fallen in love with this cutie and I'm considering getting him (although I shouldn't), but the price he's been sold for on Stacey's Pink Ocean website is so high.
My friend told me about getting him through a taobao dealer and now I read that many of you recommend the same.
Of course I'd prefer him cheaper, but...am I wrong or is there only one little photo of him on the page? I don't know any Chinese, but there doesn't even seem to be a proper description, and you can't choose between double and single-jointed body, as you can on Stacey's page. I'm not worried about getting a recast because it seems to be Sio2's official page, but...how can I trust a page with no details, no photos and spend money on it? Don't you guys (ladies) think it's scary?

    56. Kind of wish he had a shorter hair option... both because I prefer the look of shorter hair and because I feel like when a figure has hair in a hard material like this, you're going to run into lots of angles where it looks wrong because it's sticking straight out impervious to gravity when he tips his head down, or else it's going to crash into his shoulders and stop him from looking up all the way, and so on.

Though I suppose it's a moot point because if I get him I'll just take off the resin hair and use a fiber wig anyway.

    57. Not really. You're supposed to e-mail SIO2 with any questions or concerns you might have. They don't have a lot of pictures up because he's still in the making and isn't quite complete. An agent would be able to contact SIO2 and get more information from them.

    58. Thank you for the reply!
To be honest, I think it's even scarier that he's not complete and such. They are taking money for something still in the making? I feel sorry for them, they seem to be very busy, but still...they could have waited with starting his order period until he's a ready...

    59. It's Jan 22 and I still can't decide! Ack!

I don't know. I'd probably be pushed over the edge if he had a short version of the resin hair, I love the sculpted hair but I'm not totally loving the long hairstyle though I guess it helps to balance out the horns... Dx
