Hybrids Simply Divine Heads: Color Matching and Body Proportions

IMO...... about the Simply Divine resin matching...... the WS is paper white as white as you can get.... the Venetian Luna Sunrise to me? matches with Dollshe or Dollstown Freshskin. sorry i don't have a pic to share right now. perhaps someone else will help out.

 

I have also got a Thomas on the way. Unfortunately there is no perfect match for the Simply Divine resin, according to what I have read, although the head was designed for the larger male bodies. My plan is to put my boy on a Spiritdoll Herculean. If you look at the Harlequin group order thread, there is a picture of the Luna White on a Spiritdoll white, and the difference is pretty startling (Luna White is almost glow-in-the-dark white).

I'll have to wait until I get the boy in my hot little hand before I can determine whether or not it might match anything else, for certain, but I would be prepared for the idea of having to blush the head, and the torso of any doll you get, regardless.

Do post pictures when you get your boy, though! I'm very excited to see how he's shipped out.

 

I put my Luna white Thomas on a Luts SSDF in beauty white. The Luts is pinker but once the head is faced up, it's an acceptable match for me. My Eve head in Luna white went on a Supergem CW body with the Simply Divine small bust torso piece, so nice match at the neck. Pictures in my Flickr, tho hard to see the Thomas match because of the high collar.

 

I got an Eve head and small-bust piece in the Venetian Luna Sunrise, and it is no match to Volks NS! Volks has a yellow tone which VLS doesn't have. I checked what Miss Ally said about it being closer to Dollshe Freshskin, comparing my Freshskin Rosen to the Eve bust, and that is closer, but... the VLS has an ashen undertone, which when I tried her on a Soom NS body with a dark brown wig, made her look rather ghastly. So, I'm wondering just what to do with her!

 

Oh, my sympathies. That's one reason I went with the Luna white, just a bit easier to match and blush with the whites. the Luna white is whiter and more pink-toned than the Soom white body I got, but I was able to blush the torso piece a bit, and then blush the upper arms with white pastels (used a sponge to really get the pastels on), to blend it in. Any chance you can underblush with white and get a better match with Soom (if you want to use the bust)? The SG body I'm using for Eve is noticeably more yellow-tinged than the newer Nephelin CW body I have.

Or, any chance she could be a "talking head" -- i.e., just bust and head?

 

Aw, reduced to a "talking head", LOL!

That... or if she goes on my Soom body, she'll have to be clothed head to toe, and wear gloves, too! If I were really clever, I'd mod her into a mechanoid or something... or find someone who'd want her for a project.

 

I've never actually seen Venetian Luna Sunrise in person, only in photos, so can not say what it would (or would not) match, although Simply Divine thought it closer to Volks NS, but that said, I don't think the Simply Divine colors really match any other companies skin tones, they are definitely unique and original to their company.

beamlette ~ Wondering if perhaps the Luna Sunrise could be under-painted to give it a warmer skin tone that would work better with the bodies you want to use for your heads?

For my 3 Simply Divine heads, I ordered them all in Venetian Luna White. It is indeed a stark "paper" white. With this in mind, I under-painted all of my heads, and the resulting "base" color was a deep cream tone with buff undertones (I did this by mixing various shades of cream and light pink/tans from my pastels), and this gave me was a pretty good match to 2 of my Soom Super Gem bodies (both of which were pretty white for Soom's usual run of cream white). I also blushed the neck and torso of my bodies to further help "blend" the skin tones better.

 

i agree the sunrise has a bit of an grey undertone in it. i have my head on a new Dollshe body and there is a definite difference. i plan on adding the soom jointed hands i have and they are definitely pinker toned than the head. Sooo... a blushin' we will go! but i love these heads!!!!!

 

I did a search for simply divine sculpts which turned up a few threads, but not what I was looking for. I'm looking to see if anyone has either Thomas or Harlequin on a Spirit Doll v2 body.

I'm not concerned about resin matching I'd just like to see what the proportions look like. If anyone has this hybrid it would be great if you could post a few photos from different angles so I can get an idea of what he looks like.

I have my Thomas Venetian Luna Sunrise on Dollstown 18year Boy Body in Oriental - very nice matching. I don't know whether it would be better in fresh, I have dolls in DollShe fresh skin, but what I see is very propotional and not bad in color. Nothing that couldn't be blushed up.

 

I have my Harlequin Venetian Luna White on Dollstown 18year Boy Body in Pale - perfect match. Proportions and skintone is really good.

 

Wow, I've never fallen in love with a sculpt as hard and fast as I have with this one. I love strong-faced girls like Soom Saiph and think he would make an amazing one, but he's designed for a 70cm body and I'm concerned about the bobble-head effect.

So, photos of Simply Divine Harlequin on female bodies, please! I would especially love photos of him on the Supia double-jointed body, the Feeple 65 body, and the new double-jointed Super Gem body. (You can see I have a weakness for bodies with lots of mobility and a joint under the bust.) Shots with the hands near the face would be extra great. I have the impression Thomas and Harlequin are proportioned similarly, so Thomas shots would be just as informative as Harlequin shots. Thank you!

 

I'd love to see some pictures, for those of you who have heads and bodies together!!

(Thinking about getting Thomas, but the only 70cm bodies I have available are a brand-new Dollshe Orientalskin and an older Luts Senior Delf.)

Do you guys think that Luna Sunrise would look okay with Orientalskin resin, especially if I went with a face-up artist who could do a little airbrushed blushing?

(I don't want to cover the head in blush, because then a scratch would ruin the face-up -- I generally prefer just a little blush on the cheeks and the focus on the lips and eyes, because I can repair MSC chips/scratches elsewhere on the head myself.)

Dear fellow angels, does anyone happen to have: DT/Dollshe pale, freshskin and oriental bodies (or heads) to compare those three resin colours next to the Simply Divine Luna White head and Sunrise head in a one, good quality picture took in a daylight...? I would be really grateful.

Oh, yes, Cat ^..^, I'm aware of that, but the thing is the same resin colour (depending on lighting conditions, gear settings and so on) often looks different in many pictures. One group picture od those three DT/Dollshe colours next to both of SD colours shot in a daylight is what I'm after, 'cause I've found none such comparison so far, while it would be most helpful for many people, I suppose. Maybe during some local meetup there would be a chance to take such a picture (I'm aware that it's not common to find all of those listed above in one home)

 

I've just ordered Alec in Creamy Yellow Venetian Bone, so will be hoping someone will post some WS/YS photos soon for a body for him. I really hope I can find a smaller body for him. I'm looking at the Mirodoll bodies, but it's so hard to tell about colors. Apparently it's a good match color-wise to Soom White.

 

Hello i would also be interested to see harlequin head on female body, im interested in Feeple60/65, EID, SID, New Supia bodies the most but any female body will do, i do not care about color match just want to see the proportions :3 Thank you !

raeyvn: The Soom Mecha Angel neck is 11cm. Harlequin is tight on the Soom Mecha Angel neck. You would not be able to go larger than 11cm without modding.

The Pulse Harlequin is a Venetian Luna White Harlequin on a white Soom Mecha Angel body. Paint, hair, and eyes by Pulse.

Harlequin head on the WS Mirodoll 68 cm body. I'm not sure about proportion, I find the body a bit too small. What do you think?

I've found a wonderful body for my Harlequin: Akagidoll 72 cm. Some neck modding was required though …
Body and head are both WS. There is a minor color difference, but it doesn't show in the photos. Pictures are taken in daylight.

Hello! I managed to find a body that has the same neck circumference of the body you have. Is there any way I can get a pic of the neck mod/details of how you did it? Sorry to ask, but I've never done a neck mod before so I'm not sure how to go about it. Thank you!

 

malvagitabella, I could take a picture for you (but not now as I'm currently making him a wig and he needs his neck for a while). However, I don't think it will help you much, since I don't have a comparison pic with the unmodded neck, and I don't think the mod itself is visible. All I did was sand the neck all around until it fitted … be prepared for aching arms …

 

Does anyone know if the simply divine heads work well with either a Ringdoll grown 70 cm body or Loongsoul 73.5 body. It looks like the Rigndoll body may be the closest in size to the dollstown body with the Loongsoul being a tad larger. Also, does anyone know if there are any close resin matches between simply divine and Ringdoll or Loongsoul?

Has anyone tried a Granado 69cm body?

 

So disappointed about the Mirodoll body. I wanted a Richard head on my Mirodoll 60. Proportions just wrong if it won't work on the 68cm. Sigh.

 

Here is a Sugarable Genie body with a Harle head before body blushing to match the head. While the Akagi doll body and the Dollstown 18years body are my faves, this one works extremely well too if you like muscles... which I do. *waggles brows*

The neck needs no modding and has great range of motion and posing.

Wow! The Demiurge looks amazing with the Bigger heads (midnight sized?) while the Granados are perfectly proportioned for the smaller Nikaru sized.

That Supia Boy is interesting too... and of course, my beloved DT18 for the big heads... sheer awesomeness! (I am still loving on that Akagi Doll+Harle head!)

Miro will be producing bigger boys with wider shoulders, but on the downside, the necks will be much bigger too. Harle is what, 10cm or 11? The new Miro necks will be about 13cm so much sanding will need to be done. I'd still love to see a larger SiDi head on the new RS Yi body.

 

How about a 72cm Doll Chateau hybrid?





Since the shoulders are not 16mm, Harlequin looks a tad bobbleheaded. And you do not want to use him with the extra neckpiece. But I think he can get away with it. The smaller, more recent Simply Divine sculpts would probably be fine.



Doll Chateau has changed their resin formula. I had an original release Ada who was paper-white, so I ordered my Harlequin in Bone White. But 2015 Doll Chateau white is much closer to fresh skin, so be sure to order Luna White if this hybrid interests you.



They make an elegant combo, and the neck gap that so many Doll Chateau hybrids have is virtually non-existent; one of the best hybrids I've seen in that category.



Clothe him and the flaws are hardly noticeable.

JEIMSI, it'd work if you're willing to whittle down the neck to 10cm. A lot of whittling but I've seen it done. I bet it'd look really good!

 

Chalyss: Hmm, I really like the Ringdoll body but I'm not sure if I want to modify it quite that much. It's a pretty radical modification (at least from a complete modification newbie point of view) and I'm a bit nervous I'd do some irreversible damage.

I just ordered my Thomas today and I think I'll be hunting for a body for a while.

 

Hi everyone!

I had this wish for a Soom Idealian body with a Simply Divine Harlequin head on it. But the neck is way too thick and even with modding it won't be any good.
That got me really set back, since I have no clue what body to buy for him then.

I'm really picky with bodies, and I want it to look like the Soom one, meaning with the same lines. I don't like the chest line to be too low or visiable, and i don't like when they have what I call "diapers".
Does anyone have any sugestions as to what body might be good?

It's from the doll company Sugarable. It's their LE Genie body. They may have something similar though- I never shop their store. My very good friend gave me this body for my Harlequin head and it works just beautifully.

Hi there guys! So many nice options for bodies... But I still couldn't find a proper one for what I need T_T I'm still planning on buying a Simply Divine head, but I have no idea what body should I get... I want something more muscular, wider shoulders... I don't know... Just like @rikkedehli said, something like Idealian, but I'm pretty sure it won't work... As I could see before, EID body also doesn't work very much... Maybe 5th Motif body? Or the new 28M body from Dollshe? Do anyone have those to try taking some pictures? I'd appreciate it very much ^^

 

I got the 28m body and the Thomas head.

It won't work without modding or perhaps if your character is long haired and it'll cover up the neck a little

I'm getting a new body for my Harlequin next week, Dollstown's amazing 18yrs boy body which I'm going to mod to be female with sanding and epoxy. I have seen many very good reviews of that hybrid and perfect resin match, so I'll post mine once I'm done
