I have managed to learn quite a bit while making these dolls, Several of them I want to remake if only for a better anatomical design. Some just need work for the joints and movement needs. I create my dolls via 3D printing, I use shapeways to print my models. How this works is I create a digital 3D model, including making sure there is an inside connecting wall no holes etc then get it printed in a variety of materials available. My main material I use is a nylon plastic which is porous and has a slight grain or tooth texture on the surface. This makes a great sue-ding for the joints and helps to grab and hold pigments. It is also cheapish...haha. I do have plans to try resin casting both professionally and on my own. Dolls: Octoling, Dragonling, Uniling, Gargoyling, Pheonixling, Brownieling, Impling, Iceling (snow drop boy).
Oh! I've seen you on Etsy, I think. Your dolls are wonderful - so unique and different and with so much character. They look so mischievous! I think the girl with the little satyr-type horns and wings is my favourite. Well done - it's great to see someone doing such fanciful stuff, especially with 3D printing.
You've made some very interesting dolls. You are very creative. I'm not sure I would have thought of any of that.
Some more dolls I have done, hopefully one more alpha print coming in friday and working on a few other doll commissions including a cyclops and a fox. View attachment 516 View attachment 517
Your mushroom baby is my fave!!! I am so glad you are still going! Your ideas are great, and you are a real inspiration for the possibilities of home printing!
