Okay, I know that this isn't the most original idea, but what's a girl to do when she keeps getting J-rock style clothes for her dolls, but do a band photoshoot? Come see a photo essay of and interview with the newest stars on the J-rock scene, Kwaidan: Go here for the full story: http://hedonia.net/dollfieville/gallery/groups/kwaidan/kwaidan1.html Oh, I made a couple of the pics bigger than I usually do, but hopefully it isn't too slow loading. Enjoy! Kelly
So stylish. Love the boys' fur coats and Keizo's top hat! The red back ground with the shadow is fantastic
Awwww, Mitsu wa kawaiii~~~! (But a female vocalist! *gasp*) Very cute ^_~ Love the interviews and photos. And the lovies.
Very nice pictures . I like a lot your Hana!! She's so beautifull. The interview was funny, I enjoy it
I'm a total dunce with Japanese so I have no clue on the common-ness of that word...but there's an older Japanese film called Kwaidan that's REALLY good...I wonder if the band perhaps used that as inspiration?
Actually, the film is based on the book and it really was one of my favorites when I was a child and still is. Very scary and atmospheric -- a must-see! Thank you, everyone, for your nice comments! It seems like Hana is pretty popular and here I thought the boys would get all the attention. zoi-no-miko -- I'm curious why you *gasped* about a female vocalist. I know it's not common in a J-rock band and Hana might seem like a quiet spooky chick, but she can belt it out with the best of them. I'm not sure if anyone got it, but I listed Mitsu as playing the bass and the "ki". The "ki" are actually two sticks that are struck together at the beginning and end of scenes in kabuki plays. I just thought that it was funny that those are the traditional instruments he plays. Many hugs! Kelly
Oh man. -_-;; Girls can rock just as hard as guys, I tell you! D:< Like Youjeen, Shena Ringo, Cocco...they're just as j-rock as any of the boys.
Hehehehe, your interview was great! And I took a tour around the rest of your website, too -- totally awesome! Lovely dolls, fun stories, yay! ~Tara
Mmm, Boa.... I know she's really K-pop, but when I think of sexy female belters, I think of her. ^_~ I love the dramatic burgundy backdrop you used for the photoshoot! Looks verra atmospheric. Hana is so gorgeous, too, and I really like the contrast that pale Mitsu gives to the scene. *pokes Keizo* Be nicer to your brother. P.S. Loveloveloved the captionless shot of Mitsu and Keizo holding hands. So tender. Edit: P.P.S. This is random and silly, but being Chinese(-American), every time I read the band's name I can't help translating it in my head as "quick egg." LOL!
Tara -- I'm glad that you enjoyed the story and the rest of my site! Thanks!!! I love your siggy -- Heinlein is my favorite SF writer and I can totally identify with the sentiment! Thank you, Descending Twilight! I couldn't resist the coat for 800yen in the sale box at the Volks Akihabara store, but now that I've tried it, I would have gladly paid full price. Emera -- I had fun setting up the shoot, but it was tough to keep the contrast balanced with Mitsu. Had to delete a bunch of pics that were otherwise fine, but he was blown (too bright). That is too funny about "quick egg". I should run titles past Devon before I decide on them. I actually don't know what it means in Japanese, but I do know that technically it is spelled "kaidan" and "kwaidan" is the spelling used for the book/movie in English speaking countries. Thanks again everyone! Kelly
You know, I realized that there are probably a lot of people who have no idea what Shoxx is -- it's a Japanese Visual-Kei magazine with great photo essays and interviews (which I can't read very well, but they often sound a bit like the one in my story). Thanks! Kelly
WOW Kel, who ever called The Beatles "Fab Four"?? The one&only Fab Four are your boys and girls! They are not in need of 11 experienced groupies, or are they?? *winks and pokes*
Oh, god, Zoi! I could kiss you! I've seen pics of this band before and loved their look, but the name was in kanji and had no idea how it was spelled in romanji. I even asked Devon to read it for me, but the pronounciation is different in Chinese than Japanese. Now I just need to track down some of their CDs! Thank you, thank you!!! And thank you, Az!
