Shoulder Joint vs normal joint

Jun 18, 2014

    1. I´m a new artist and i'm developing a line of silver bjds, I have made this two bodies, but i´m not really sure of what i like best.

The jointed shoulder increase the amount of posse ability in the doll but it looks really unnatural,

and the other have a small range of posses but I think it looks really pretty....

      Which one do you like?

I´m not so sure if I posted the photographs in the proper way, so if it does not work or anything else let me know.

    2. Wow! I think the jointed shoulder sounds amazing. After recently getting a BJD that had a lot more pose-ability, I am definitely a bigger fan of good joints than good looks(though he also looked really good too). Maybe you could reshape the joint to look more appealing? On the other hand, if your bjd is wearing a shirt then it wont even be visible. That's why I don't mind amazing-but-odd-looking joints because they are usually covered up anyway.

Congrats on making such a tiny metal doll though! Is it metal? Or is it just looked like metal? She is very beautiful!

    3. Oh my gosh these are amazing! So petite and beautifully made, I love the second one! If you ever sold them and I could afford one I totally would! X3

    4. She is made out of sterling silver, the process that was used to make her is lost wax casting (the one of jewelry) , I think I could reshape the shoulder joints and give them another chance. I am also reshaping the lower torso and making her double joint elbows, I really hate those single jointed arms.

    5. That is amazing. Seriously, amazing.

Could you size down the shoulder ball somewhat? I've made similar joints and they don't have to be that big to allow such a large range of motion - you can go just a bit bigger than the shoulder joint itself and still get decent mobility. After looking at your Flickr, I'd say if you have to pick one, go with the one with the shoulder ball - because the metal makes her look like an awesome little robot girl and I'd love to see how she looks with the silver aged. <3

    6. I think it is a good idea, I´m going to size down the shoulder ball and post photographs soon of how it turned out, Thank you!!!, I have made a test with the oxide, fully oxidized she looks really pretty (like a black versión of the doll), but when the time of remove the oxide is near (partially remove the oxide to give the aged appearance) she looks just dirty.

    7. Well, if you've got pictures of how she looks oxidized, I'd love to see it. I really like that look of aged, tarnished-then-polished silver personally. I hope the smaller shoulder ball works out for you... and your dollies in general. So freakin' cool, not something I'd even thought possible in a BJD but WOW so beautiful.

    8. Woah! They're incredible! I thought at first glance that perhaps you'd made them from precious metal clay, but now I'm wondering if you could wear one as a necklace! haha! I just love them ^___^ I do like the larger shoulder joint from behind, but think the smaller one looks better overall. Can't wait to see what happens with these!

    9. What an incredible little doll. She is lovely. I also like the large ball joint from behind. But the front is just too big. Of course, if she's going to be dressed, it wouldn't matter. Thank you for sharing. Good job.

    10. HystericalParoxysm, I'M IN LOVE WITH YOU! HAHAHAHAHA, I tried out in the wax prototype the new smaller joint, and it Works and looks wonderfully, I hope between the next two weeks I have that body casted in silver,I will definitely show you a photo of the doll with the silver aged, but i don´t have photos right now, so maybe a photo of the new body with the silver aged. ;)

    11. These are amazing dolls. I never even thought of bjd's being made from silver. So creative and beautifully made!!

    12. omg just ... love

    13. thay are SO BEAUTIFUL. what gorgeous little people you have made. I agree that perhaps reshaping the shoulder joint so it is a little bit smaller but still offers a wide range of movement might work well and give you the look you want. Thank you for sharing!

    14. Woah! Interesting idea for the shoulder-joint! He looks AMAZING in silver!! ^^

    15. Oh how wonderful. I love your shoulder joint. Also love your silver casting. Quite lovely. You must let us know when you have some to share with us. :o

    16. I think she doesn't look too much feminine hahahaha, maybe bigger breasts in the future
