Jan 9, 2010

    1. Aww she is so so pretty babytarrogan xxx

    2. Chizune is such a cutie!

    3. Oh wow what a beauty she is! I love those eyes!!!!

    4. You wanted proof, so here it is! Here's Chouko on the left in Goodreau shoes and Ryo on the right in Ruby Red Galleria.

I took a couple of head shots of these girls but gave up after that. It's too hot outside and I can't get any decent natural light through any of my windows :(

    5. renee I love this photo, its so cute ! I must admit I have a thing about tiny shoes. The goodreau shoes are adorable. Thanks for the spam xx

Where would be a good place to buy Goodreau shoes ?

    6. Finally, the amazing Ophelia (she is a Castleann SD head on a Fragille body), in a new spring outfit, from Ellowyne Wilde (the clothes fit the body quite nicely, shoes do not fit, but they do fit on the Pricco size)

    7. Aww pretty pretty pretty !

    8. Isn't she awesome? I love her delicate hands, and how graceful she is.

    9. I just discovered Shiny Dolls and received my brand new Meefa head in white resin yesterday. Today I discovered this thread and have enjoyed reading all the posts and meeting your beautiful dolls. I especially enjoyed learning the history of the Shiny Dolls.

Next week I hope to be able to spend my time giving sweet, lyrical Meefa a face up as well as several mohair and feather wigs. I can't wait to make her some outfits. Her gorgeous ears allow so much creativity in her styling and character. I know I'm going to love this sweet girl even more than I do now once she has a wardrobe all her own. The possibilities are endless with such a beautiful, unique sculpt.

Here she is on my Dollzone b45-12 body. Unfortunately I only have thus body in normal pink and normal yellow. But I love Meefa on it!

    10. Congratulations ! Firstly for your lovely Meefa ! The body is really cute and I'm excited to see what you do with her gorgeous face and wardrobe! And secondly for reviving this thread and bringing it back to life ;)

    11. Thank you! I hope everyone will post more photos of their girls. I've enjoyed them all so much. I'll try to add to this thread as my Meefa settles in. I even love her name!

    12. Hi Pony-san,
Thank you for introducing Meefa head to your doll family.
I am so glad that you love her ears.
I still remember that it was fun to creater her ears.

    13. Congrats on receiving Meefa! She's quite inspiring; those ears are just so pretty. Mohair & feather wigs will definitely look good on her :)

    14. Oh wow! What a beautiful hybrid, Ruthwen!

Doi Shin, your sculpt is stunning. I was amazed and very pleased by how fine and translucent Meefa's ears were when she arrived. I've been trying on all kinds of ideas for her face up in my mind this weekend but I have a feeling that once I start to paint her that she'll go where she wants to go. So even I will be excited to meet her!

I was able to make her a black feather wig this weekend. I'll post a picture when I get a chance.

    15. Ruthwen, that hybrid is amazing!

    16. I got a new wig for Chizune, I love the shape on her :)

    17. I absolutely adore your lovely Chizune, and the wig is perfect for her.
She has a beautiful face-up, who was the artist, please? :daisy

    18. She's got a face by Human Beans, her username on here is Smaug :)

    19. it's perfect, she really is a little sweetheart :)

    20. Chizune looks too cute for words in her new wig!

    21. I have heard such great things about the Fragille body! All the dolls here are so pretty!

What is the best way to order just the body? This is the only website I found listing it for sale, but I don't know if it is trustworthy:
      Fragille Body 42cm

My intention is (eventually) is make a Shiny Doll + Unoa hybrid. I love the sweet Unoa faces! I like the Unoa Fairyskin best, and I'm guessing Shiny Doll's "White" skin would work best with that color (please correct me if I'm wrong).

Edited to add: Do you think Minifee hands would work with the Fragille body? I like the different hand options.

      Thank you!

    22. You can usually order the body direct from Shin, however I'm not sure what his schedule is like nowadays, so it might be a longer wait than before (it used to be super quick). He's sometimes a little slow to reply to emails.

His email is [email protected] (yes, with all the hyphens!)

    23. Thank you, @babytarragon!

So it is better to buy from him directly than from Oobie Doll?

      Edited to add:

Okay, I want to email him, but I'm so torn about the skin tone! After looking through this thread I really love the Hikali head, so I'll probably just go ahead and get a full doll and put the Unoa plates on when I feel like it. But I can't decide between the white and normal skin! The normal skin looks pretty pale already, and is a bit more human than the white skin, but, on the other hand, I like the Unoa Fairyline skin a bit better than their Fresh skin, and I don't know if it would go with the Shiny Doll Normal!

Any suggestions? Thank you in advance!

    24. The Shinydolls are cast in Japan resin, which yellows quickly and easily compared to Korea or China resin. So they do end up quite eggy over time!

    25. Thank you, @babytarragon

That's a consideration. I wonder if Normal or White skin ages better? I don't mind a doll ending up looking somewhat like ivory, but I would prefer no bananas!

Also, another question: has anyone tried Minifee hands on a Shiny Doll body (I realize the new hands would need a wrist magnet piece).

    26. Hello!! I was hoping someone could tell me neck size of the Fragille body. I could not find measurements for it anywhere. Thank you in advance!

    27. I would love to have this information as well. If you find it from another source, please share it here if it isn't too much trouble!

    28. JPopDolls used to sell Shinydolls. They haven't had any listed for sale for quite some time but the category is still there: Ball Jointed Dolls. It might be worth asking if they can still get them. Someone in my local doll group has a hybrid doll with Shinydoll body. After a number of years it has definitely yellowed, but so has the CP Luts head attached to it.

    29. It would be nice to see all of these girls again. I keep looking at Meefa on Oobie doll and trying not to cave in (not too hard as I have way more expenses than I was expecting).

    30. Sorry for the late reply! I contacted Angie from oobiedoll and she told me she was not sure of the neck size, but she would contact the artist and then get back to me. If she ever does, I will definitely let you know what she tells me :)

    31. Thank you, @Citizen#Jaime! I hope she gets back to you soon so you can proceed with your planning!

    32. I emailed Shin directly and he said the Fragille body is still available for order. Can anyone comment on the posing of this body vs. Minifees or Bimong Naraes (or other MSDs that are good posers)? I have a floating Minifee head in search of a body. I could order a Minifee body and get it over with, it'd be easier to find clothing and shoes, but I really enjoy nothing more than a well posing body so I'm intrigued by Shinydoll's reputation.

      Thank you!

    33. Fragille has very 'soft' posing. She's very flexible, and I find her to have quite an organic feel if that makes sense? The downside is that although she stands well, she's not as sturdy as a doll whose joints click in place. So really depends what is more important, a doll which can achieve nearly every pose a human can, or a doll who stands like a rock!

    34. Thank you for this useful information. I rarely need my doll to stand on its own. This sounds very interesting!

    35. Catch me reviving an old thread, whoops.

I was lucky enough to win a drawing for a ShinyDoll Suzune at Resin Rose this year, and she is gorgeous! Unfortunately she didn't come with a CoA, the front of the box seems to serve as her authenticity, but it doesn't have a date or serial number on it, and I'm trying to determine around when she might have come from. She appears to still have her company faceup, but she has metal pegs in her wrists and ankles for the hooks to hold to, and the resin is a different texture than I've experienced, a little grainier, more textured, for lack of a better word, and a fair bit yellowed. I only joined the BJD hobby in 2014, so it's possible she might be from before then, especially since it seems like she was released initially in 2010 or 2011. I can provide photos if you like, I just haven't taken any really good ones of her just yet.

She's absolutely beautiful, and I'm very excited to make her my own. I plan to give her a new faceup, gently sand down some of her seams, and style her up really sweetly. Any info about the Fragille line and Suzune specifically would be very welcome, thank you!

    36. @Xweetara, unfortunately I don't have any experience with the Fragille line, but I wanted to congratulate you on your RR face-up contest win. Shinydolls are very special, and I look forward to photos of her. I hope that my reply gives this thread an extra bump so it's seen by someone who can give you some advice :3nodding:

    37. @Xweetara my Feefee was bought secondhand, so I don't have any dates, but she did come with a business card in a plastic sleeve, no serial #. My Alkali, also secondhand, has nothing.

    38. Wonderful, thank you so much! :) I'm very excited to take a look through the project journal. Mine also came with a business card in a plastic sleeve, so it's good to know that that's relatively standard.

    39. I have several Shinydolls. Some I bought new from Shin Doi, and some I bought on secondary markets. None of them came with CoAs. CoAs weren't really a thing yete when he began making dolls, and I suppose he never got around to printing any.
