ShinyDOLL [Fragille] Information and Discussion

'Sato and I would like to know where people get shoes to fit Fragille feet ? I have many that fit minifee - some are good but her feet are slimmer !

If I remember right, narae has a similarly narrow foot and I frequently see her in fabulous fashion doll shoes, I really need to try them for fragille!

I think we are at a disadvantage living in the UK where 18 inch fashion dolls are not very popular, shipping and customs from USA is expensive!

The best fitting shoes my girls have are the 4 ever best friends dolls from years ago. Out of stock everywhere now

renee_chan, I like to get as close to the doll as I can. This cuts down on background interference that will show the true scale of your dolls. For framing shots, divide your picture into 9 squares (like placing the pound symbol or "hashtag" over top) and set the thing you want to focus where any of the lines intersect. Also, think about when taking pictures of humans, the photographer is about the same height as the subject, so place your lens slightly below the doll's eye level, creating the illusion of height. The camera used doesn't matter as much as framing. If your camera can change the focal point, try playing with that to focus /not/ on the closest object or at the center, but a finger, lips, or nose.
As far as subject matter, the more natural positions you can get the better (and Shinydolls are great for that ^^). Be aware of head and eye positions especially b/c humans have evolved to pick up on the subtlest of cues via facial expressions.

Thanks for all the tips! I'll definitely use them. I've poked around in the photography section here and have picked up a lot from it. I think now I just need practice, practice, practice!

For shoes, I've found that many Goodreau doll shoes fit well, some with and some without socks. Also Ruby Red Galleria shoes fit ok with socks. Rosette School of Dolls shoes fit perfectly I've heard, but I don't have a pair myself.

 

Little bump to show you Ryo! She's a real tomboy and wants to be a mechanic. I have to find the right look for her; I think TTYA has overalls. This is just a quick snapshot I took right after opening her when she came back from the spa:

We have discovered Sato is short sighted and needed glasses - Shes a little self-conscious about them but I said she looks good !

I just discovered the Thaasa range of bjd yesturday from someone else on DoA and wanted to say how this is now my favourite mobility type body sculpt. Shin your work is amazing and the girls are just beautiful. I'm in the process of buying a head from doa and just wanted to say how much I like your work (even if I only found out about Thaasa yesturday). Just a question for Shin sama , How did you initialy get into creating bjd? (bow) . Thank you very much for you time ^^.

Shin-san, thank you for sharing your story! I read an article in Haute Doll magazine years ago. It was all about ShinyDoll and had a nice interview. I wish I could find a copy of that magazine. If anyone has it and could scan the article for me I'd appreciate it!

I'm going through my doll collection now and I'm thinking of adding another Meefa to my family, but maybe on the new Pricco body. She'd be Chouko's (my Fragille Meefa) little sister. What could I do to make the sculpt look younger? I was thinking modding the eyes open a little bit would give her a youthful look.

I've been wanting to get my girls out for a little photo shoot but the weather's been so hot and humid. I need to rig up some lighting inside I guess.

 

Does anyone have the measurement for the neck size on the Fragille III body? I'm getting a Unoa Lusis head and she'll need a body eventually. thanks.

The resin match is exact, I suspect the Japanese resin both companies use is the same ^^

Sorry about the poor quality photo. Little Meefa is named Cara, and she will be a redhead. Soft and elegant. I'm in love with her! And I just love the little tooth in the resin, the feel and weight of little Cara makes me so happy.

Sato is lovely as always! I'm going on a little vacation & will be taking Ryo with me. I'm borrowing my parents' camera as mine is rather bulky and not good for quick vacation pics. I think Ryo is looking forward to getting out and about

Midori sitting prettily on my work desk, I can't resist but take a photo! Her story is finally coming together (I hadn't realized she was not the docile, gentle soul I envisioned and has a queen personality! Here is a rare moment of peace I captured! Most of the time she is bossing me to finish my work quicker!) I made a forest green set that MAY be too page-like and she refuse to wear anything but my collection of sheer scarves. d'oh!

 

Midori has such a calm serene look about her - she certainly hides her bossiness well lol Its so good to see this thread alive again. I really love all our ShinyDolls and miss seeing them !

Thank you for your kind words! I'm loving the pictures in the this thread and just keep going back to them. LOL! Indeed, Stella Maris! hahaha shinydoll bodies are wonderous. I do wonder if I will ever see a male line come out to accompany our lovely dollies, sometimes! Actually I wonder about that a lot, so I can give her a brother I think the reason Midori became bossy and demanding is by watching Lord of the Rings trilogy movies with me. Galadriel is apparently her role-model. (I tell her I can't sew, especially high level crafts like chiffon silk and she scoffed and said: "hand sew this dress for me " ...yes, my queen... /sarcasm)

Good luck ( But I have had the dress a year or two : ( ) But there are always new designs appearing in her shop. On another note, where do you guys buy your Shinydoll shoes. Sato shares with my Minifee and though they do have pretty small slender feet, hers are slightly narrower still. As you can see in this photo.

Goodreau Doll shoes fit Fragille feet perfectly, and I've found that most Ruby Red Galleria shoes fit nicely with socks. Sato is such a lovely girl

It's worth it, these dolls are amazing. I have to take more pictures of Ophelia, she's very neglected.

I mostly lurk on this thread, but I decided to post today It's been good to see activity on here again.

Wish I had one of these girls. They are on my list. Must win lotto first LOL! I did recently get the Thasa body at long last. After getting her she made me want a fragille body oh so much more. They are just so well weighted and had a great feel to them. Posability is amazing!

 

Welcome to the thread, its good to see new interest in these lovely dolls. I'm always surprised that they are not more popular, their poseability is on par with more popular companys such as Fairyland (and I have plenty of those to compare lol)

 

I tried to get pics of Ryo in her RRG shoes plus my other girls wearing Goodreau shoes but my camera battery is dead. It's on the charger now

I too am at a loss as to why these dolls are not more popular. Maybe because there's only a few head sculpts for Fragille line? And speaking of sculpts, have you all seen the new elf sculpt for the Thassa body? She's divine and at the top of my wish list!

 

All these cute Sato pics have motivated me to finally restring my Fragille body.

I hot glued her waist and it really helps, the Fragille waist is sometimes a bit too flexible :p

Renee, I suppose since they are Japanese, so feel expensive compared to Korean or Chinese dolls?
