That's a beautiful shot pianissimo - what head sculpt is she?

 

THank you all for your kind words about my lovely little Shinygirl! She is a Meefa, all credit is due to Mr Shin's wonderful engineering and Ravendolls' fabulous face-up.

 

Right, I have finally ordered my meefa! Very exciting

Puffin463, your Meefa is gorgeous! I could see her among the icicles on a crisp winter morning, watching the world from a tree.

Doi Shin, I'm glad you're encouraged to continue. Your dolls are truly special and I absolutely love dressing and photographing my Hikali.

Speaking of special, the superior sculpting of these dolls makes joint-photoshopping SUPER EASY and mega realistic. Arden got a new pair of boots from Deb's Adorables on ebay, meant for Kish 14" dolls. They fit like they were made for her!

My Hikali, Arden, surprised me today... Long story short, she's been without a body for a few weeks. Today, while my Dollmore Judith girl's head was being painted, Arden pretty much commandeered the body. I added some Unoa boy hands I had laying around. She refuses to give it up.

She is currently on a LeekeWorld fantasy body, which is slightly to small for her large head. Perhaps someday when ShinyDoll comes out with a fantasy type body we will get another. morelle, she's gorgeous! Every Eefee I see convinces me more that I need one someday. ;_; So gorgeous.

Arden enjoyed being 'mature' while it lasted! She's now permanently settled on the elegant DZ B45-008 body. I did a massive group shoot yesterday, there are a few more shots of Arden on the body there.

Lovely girls, everyone! Just a heads up, goodreaudollstore.com is having a 'Mystery Bag' shoe sale for 55mm girl shoes. Sort of a fukubukuro event! 3 random pairs for $25. Their 55mm shoes are quite narrow and fit Fragille feet perfectly. The quality is OK. I think I'll get one; my girls need more shoes. Let's hope I do indeed get a 'fukubukuro' (lucky bag) of nice shoes and not an 'utsubukuro' (depressing bag) of ugly shoes!

(Wouldn't we all love a ShinyDoll fukubukuro event? An unassembled surprise doll in a pretty bag? I think that would be the best lucky bag ever!)

 

That is very useful, I might grab one of those and hope I get some cute ones!

My meefa has arrived with Smaug for her custom face up, I am ridiculously excited! She will be very unique, I need to think how I will dress and wig her..

renee-chan-Thanks for the heads up on that - I find it dificult to find shoes for Sato's narrow feet, she steals shoes from the minifee but they have a broader foot.

Babytarrogan - Oh you have so much to answer for young lady !!! My daughter is gunning for a Pricco after seeing yours - I certainly will have to block her from this thread - a new Meefa !! OH Lordy the expense if she gets it into her head she wants one of those too ! Seriously - I cant wait to see your Meefa, she sounds very exciting !!

dear ravendolls, I've been debating between Hikali and Meefa for a while now. After seeing your beautiful lil' angel I am hooked (even though Meefa's ears are so versatile, as renee_chan demonstrated with the leafing veins in her ears)
Now all I have to do is save $$
Doi Shin-san, I am blown away by the creativity, engineering, and care you put into the dolls you create, even after you give them to their new owners ^_^

On a diff. note...
From what little I've found, Shinydoll Fragille measurements are very similar to Unoa, but I have yet to find the actual measurements. Would someone please be willing to measure their Fragille body for me (and posterity :P)?

 

Hi everyone, this might be a silly question, but how much do these girls cost?

 

Shinydoll Fragille are on the high end of the slim MSD spectrum, at $460. One must keep in mind that their creator, mister Doi Shin, is an artist working alone. He sculpts them, refines them, casts them, finishes them, and sells them all on his own. The bodies are top-of-the-line engineering and as such pose better than just about any doll on the market while still retaining natural body lines and flow. Each doll shows the deep love of the artist for his art. In my opinion, they're worth every penny!

I agree! Worth every cent and they do spoil you for posing other dolls.

 

Unfortunately the Japanese yen has become so strong in recent years that shin's team can't make shinydoll any cheaper. It's a real pain because I want to see more shinydoll out there, but it's hard to compete with the much cheaper Korean and Chinese options. although in my personal opinion the dolls are well worth the extra cost, it's hard for people to know that until after they've bought the doll!

 

Hopefully they've done their research =] I did a boolean google search for poseable BJDs and found ShinyDoll even before I knew what a "DoA" was. Comparing prices and aesthetics to other companies quickly leads one to the assumption that the value of the goods is obviously worth the price tag (plus the face sculpts are just so darn cute~)

 

It's quite obvious the resin and even the elastic is better quality than most other companies out there, once you are able to hold a ShinyDoll. I've had my Akali for going on 5 years now and her resin is almost an exact match for my Hikali that I got this year. And she's still the perfect tension.

 

Ah yes I'm not sure if Shin ever mentioned but Shinydoll uses domestic (Japanese) resin which is why they perhaps have a different feel to Korean or Chinese resin. But if you compare them to other Japanese BJD (putting aside Volks) the feel would be similar

 

Yes, my Angel Egg dolls have a similar 'feel' to them. Just a hint of tooth and an overall heavy, creamy texture. A lot of other resins have a chalky or waxy feel and seem brittle. Not to mention the crazy color difference from batch to batch (looking at you Soom cream white). Of course I still love my European & Korean dolls, but they just don't have the same nice tactile qualities.

This thread really is way too quiet! We need more Shinydoll love. These dolls are just so special. Samson, as usual, sweet Sato is just absolutely precious. I love how you photograph her! Sato is just precious. If I had had the sweet little outfits for my little one, she would still be here. We just didn't bond. Sato makes me wish I did.

My Hikali is on her way to rykaan for a face up & blushing . I'm super excited! I still have not settled on a name for her. Hopefully she'll tell me when she gets back.

I love Sato! She looks so sweet in that picture. Well, she always looks sweet . I really, really need to take more pics of my girls. I'm such a bad photographer, but I'll never get better if I don't practice! If anyone has photo shoot tips or inspiration do tell! Maybe having a theme for my shoot will help. A lot of times I just don't know how I want to set things up.

 

Oh thats such a shame !! Sato is a magpie and 'collects' outfits from others that have lived here or are still living here lol But she is just so sweet nobody minds !
