Shell Game

When I started, there weren’t a whole lot of dolls you could get in grey skin with elf ears. I was never quite happy with her, she didn’t look quite like her character.

But then Withdoll came to the table and I fond the perfect doll for her.

 

My girl went through multiple names and multiple shells despite being the same character

shell 0 (before BJDs) was this Polly pocket (I don’t have any of my own pics)

shell 1 as a bjd didn’t work out the minute she arrived!

When she arrived, so did another withdoll, who got a new body from resinsoul


And a faceup


And then another new head


and finally a whole new self (twigling Ingenue)


Bonus: the RS hybrid is a different character now!

 

Of all of my bjds, Tahmos is the one who's had the most evolution.

Spoiler: What Tahmos is based off of for reference.

So, he started out as a Resinsoul Long:

I started to be drawn towards a more realistic look for his character, so he stopped working as RS Long and became Immortality of Soul G:

At some point, the head proportions for this version vs. most of the rest of the males in my crew started to bug me, so he needed another change.
Next on the list was Simply Divine Thomas (He was shelled so briefly in this sculpt, I really didn't get any good photos of him, so pardon it just being a faceup photo):

He was going to become Granado Gabriel as his next evolution, but that ended up not being meant to be, as he had the same issues as IOS G did. In the end, his final evolution (and the one I think is finally going to stick) is Granado Galileo:

I didn't know enough about BJDs to pick a girl for her, and there weren't enough sculpts available to really do her justice. She was too small as a Mini but as Kimi should be short (really short) I tried again with a MNF Ryeon(sp?) on an AOD body to make her taller

Closer to my "vision" of what the character should look like (way closer), but her being a Mini among my SD boys really bothered me. 1/4 dolls just are not in scale with 1/3.

So I tried again with a Zaoll Ramie

Gorgeous doll, but she just didn't match the character enough (Kimi is and always will be a more stylized character in my mind), but the body was perfect, so I sold the head and replaced it with a Dollmore Miso

I liked Miso a lot, and probably would have been eternally happy with her, but I bought a Ringdoll Mona head to be her extra head...

And I liked that head better after a while. So I bought a Ringdoll Aya to be her head (same Zaoll body!).

I also bought Alice 99 (same head, winking eye) so now she's got three heads. I love her like this, she's been like this for a while now and I have no desire to change her again.
