So I painted Jolene, my Mystic Miss Miri, last in 2015, and I had dreaded repainting it for years after. I was really really proud of the galaxy Faceup I’d done back then, but the color of her eyelashes and brow being brown bothered me endlessly once she got a blue wig that suited her theme much better. This was her old Faceup, photographed shortly before I wiped it this year 2024: It was holding up well, but I just couldn’t tolerate the brown anymore. So off it came! I got her clean enough for repainting in the same theme but updated! first thing first, I blocked in the galaxy spots with painted on dark blue pastel, and did a very light base blushing in her. On the next layer I smoothed out the blue and added some pink to it to simulate a nebula, as well as blocked in her eyebrow. Looking back on this step I put it a little high but it’s fine. I also punched up the blushing in her skin! The rest of it went fast! I painted in the eyebrow and lashes detailing, defined the lips, and added stars to the blue in various sizes! After this layer all that was left was applied eyelashes and gloss. And all done with gloss, applied eyelashes and her eyes! I like how vibrant her new Faceup is and that her coloring is more lively. I also am glad I no longer have to look at her brown eye detailing! One more before and after to compare. Thanks for looking!
Thank you so much! It's sometimes really nice to see one's growth like this Thankee! I generally like to try and match the eyebrows and lashes to the wig color, especially when I have similar eyelashes to apply Thank you! Thanks! My eyebrows have gotten fuller and thicker since I started painting with acrylics, as I used to use watercolors (Jolene's old faceup was done with watercolor pencils and brushed on). I think it's an interesting change, but not unpleasant! Thankee!
