Sharp finish on wigs. Razor cut?

Jul 18, 2005

    1. well I dono about doll wigs since theyre so small... but on my real hair and my wigs, Ive used razors. When I get my hair cut they use this thing... is like a comb, but theres a razor inside of it, and they just brush it through at certain areas and off goes the hair. On my own wigs, I just use a regular razor blade - but Im very careful.

    2. The other option would be to just buy a wig like that, if you're not certain about trimming one yourself. The red wig in the third, fourth, and fifth pics looks like a Leekeworld wig to me...

    3. Ya know those tiny little ravors people use for bikini lines and such? Well most of them have this little comb add-on and then I think you could hook on the little comb to it, and being very careful cut on the razor and go through the hair gently, cutting the ends ^^. :D

    4. Well... you have a bit of an issue here with synthetic wigs. My sister's a hairdresser, and explains that the razor cut looks like that as the razor shaves the hair a bit, and it can't do that with synthetic hair because it's plastic.

What we ended up doing for the human wig we were cutting, is to take a very fine pair of sharpsharp scissors - I used $5 embroidery scissors from the local department store- turn them vertically into the hair (as opposed to the regular horizontal) and start snipping at the ends. It will take a while, and you'll think that it's not going anywhere, but it really does. ^^

    5. Zoi's right. When I get my hair cut, yeah they do use the razor comb for texture and such, but they also do the vertical cuts. I've done a some synthetic hair cutting myself, and the vertical cutting method is the best I've found so far. It really does look like you're going nowhere, but in the end it really looks good.

Oh, and a little note, the vertical cutting will take a bit of length away. So make sure you give yourself a bit of room to work, you can always take more off. lol

    6. The other problem with taking a razor to synthetic hair is that the stress will tend to stretch the hair. When synth hair is stretched... it curls. ._.;; I've had some uh, less than good experiences with that! I second the vertical cutting. It works out really well. :3
