Shipping SF Express transferred order to another courier

Feb 7, 2024

    1. Has anyone encountered this peculiar behavior from SF Express?
      • Tianba shipped my parcel from CN on January 10, 2024.
      • Tracking seems to imply that it reached my country January 22. To my shock, tracking then said that the package was sent to the Netherlands. Note that I live in Southeast Asia.
      • I contacted SF Express demanding an explanation. They then gave me a NEW tracking number from the Netherlands to my country, and the parcel will be handled by our local post instead of SF Express. As of January 27 the tracking has not moved (saying dispatched from the Netherlands).
SF Express' behavior has had me really suspicious. Why forward the parcel to Europe and have a different courier dispatch it to the actual destination? If my Tianba heads arrive with damage (knock on wood) it will be nigh-impossible to trace where in this crazy shipping chain this happened. :/

    2. Have not encountered this with SF Express specifically, but I have, in my many years of living in The Netherlands, gotten packages sent from the US which somehow went through South East Asia to get here. So it does happen!

    3. SF Express tend to go to the Netherlands and switch couriers (which means new tracking, yes). Which makes sense to me, as I live in Europe.
But it seems a bit unnecessary to take such a detour in your case though...

    4. I know very little about shipping, but ive had this happen to packages in the states (not same location mind) but ive had a package from them make it to my town, only to end up back in the nearest distribution center, so i wonder if maybe that was how yours ended up with a little more travel time?

(Biggest guess is just human error when loading/unloading)

    5. I've been asking around in the local community, and apparently I'm not the only one encountering this not-so-express situation with SF Express inexplicably diverting packages to Europe despite already having landed in our country.

I guess what miffs me the most was I paid the cost for what may be comparable to EMS, only for them to hand it over to a courier that will most likely not even deliver to my own doorstep. Add in the cost of having to go to and from the Post Office + additional handling cost, I would end up paying more than if I just paid for EMS from the get-go. Hard lesson learned. Until I am sure SF Express' local courier partner is the sort that will deliver door-to-door, I'm better off paying for good 'ol Airmail instead.

    6. Pretty much anything from outside USA comes postal except when they say DHL, UPS or FedEx. I use 17 Track site to follow my packages. Regardless of who is shipping service, 17 track follows them all.
