Shipping SF Express pay duty/tax (Dollheart-Order)

    1. Hello,

      has someone already experiences with SF Express?
      I ordered some clothes from Dollheart, it was said to be shipped with "EMS / Courier" and a few days later I received a E-Mail from SF Express with the text:
      "Your parcel xxx is awaiting customs clearance. Please click payment method below to pay your outstanding transactions. Please pay the tax&duty in time in case of the corresponding storage and detention fees."

      I have not clicked on any links in the mail, cause I never before had to pay the taxes after being e-mailed, so I´m not sure if its scam or not? The Tracking Number is correct and my name also.

      Google wasn´t of any help either, SF Express website contains mostly informations of shipping stuff to China, I can track my Number and it says "Customs clearance has been completed, waiting for customers to pay taxes, please wait patiently." On the Website I couldn´t find any informations about paying taxes or how to look that up and the reviews of the shipping service were catastrophic...

      I´ve ordered from Dollheart before last year, and didn´t get such mails, the shipping was done then by FedEx.

      Have you ever dealt with something similar? Should I maybe ask Dollheart about this?

    2. I found this Wikipedia article on them. So it seems like they are legit? The taxes & such may have to do with the country you're located in?

    3. SF Express is a legit courier service. It's very popular and well-known in places like China, Taiwan and Hong Kong. I'm in Hong Kong and have received numerous packages through them, and they have always been very quick and efficient. Not sure how good their service is in other places though... I've heard that they hand off their packages to third-party partners in places like the US?

      And as mentioned above, customs fees would depend on where you are located. I've never been charged customs fees before but from things I've heard, it sounds like whether or not you have to pay custom fees is kind of random?

    4. SF Express is a legit courier and you are lucky, you have received the link for the payment. The doll makers/dealers usually downvalue the price on the package, so you should pay less than you actually have to. In my country EMS is the worst, because they always want proof of order and payments, ignore the price on the package and demand about 30EUR for the service only, so I often pay more than 140EUR for SD doll taxes. Until last year there were tax allowances in the EU and if a package was marked with less than 22EUR, you didn't have to pay anything. Some couriers now use repackage services in their EU warehouses and some shipments still arrive without taxes but this only works with small dolls.
